While the role isn't pleasent at all, I'm actually glad it's dark. Nick does so well as an evil/jerk/dark character = see The Pack, The Wish and Entropy. Seems that so many fans forget that about him and only see him as lovable and funny. I hope he gets more dark and serious roles in the future.

I actually mentioned that on my B/A comm on lj (we're doing a rewatch) that I would have loved to have seen Xander given a full on "evil" arc. He was just so damn good at it. we talked about a scenario where Xander could have be turned and the consequences it would have had on the Scoobies-Buffy wanting to curse him but Angel refusing to allow it because he wouldn't wish his existence on anyone, not even Xander. Then there's Willow? How would she have reacted? It would have been a compelling arc.

It actually would have made for a fantastic S4 (if Angel hadn't left) and Xander would have been intimately aware of Angel and what he went through. So many new character developments!

Sooooo many possibilities! Somebody write it! lol

On the topic of Private Practice though, it sounds like they are really going to tackle this issue correctly. I've never seen the issue of rape done "right" on television. I really hope Shonda Rhimes gives it the time, sensitivity and respect it deserves.
 
I'm also hoping for that as well Kean, but Shonda Rimes writing for both GA/PrP has been really gotten worse over the yrs.

With that said, I'm glad that Brendon is working again and hope he stays sober.

I have no way of backing this up but I genuinely think she will do a good job. I don't know why. I have not been quiet about my dislike for some of Rhimes writing (Airam will back me up here lol) but from what I've read about how she intends to approach the topic, I'm hopeful.
 
I have very little interest in GA/PP, but I will probably try to catch this this week- what day is it on. I'll record it so that I can skip through everything but NB's scenes. 😉
 
Oh man this is going to be sad for Charlotte. I hope certain things don't happen that collide with the storylines. I am happy to see Nick but I don't know on these terms. I guess I will see on Thursday.
 
I don't watch Private Practice, just Grey's, but I will definitely be tuning in to watch Nick's performance this week. And I know what you mean about Shonda Rhimes' writing, but I would like to say that I really think that this the writing for this season of GA has greatly improved. Now, I don't know how much Rhimes has to do with the improvement... but at least, well, IMO anyway, it's better now than it has been over the past few seasons.

I hate talking about the possibilities with Xander's character, because I usually turn into a bitter bitch just thinking about them. Sometimes I just wish the writers finished the storylines they write for Xander. They start something with him and never follow through, like losing Jesse, and lying to Buffy, and then Faith attempting to rape him. So many interesting storylines. What a waste.

Saw the episode last night, the attack occured at the end.

Brendon's face wasn't shown, which made it all the more chilling IMHO.

Just watched the sneak peek for next week, it going to be a tough one to sit thru.

The aftermath will be heartbreaking.

I suppose that's where fandom steps in but I know what you mean. There is a lot about Angel (especially his human past) that I wish they had explained or at least tried to make sense of.

I still think you should write it though! *nudgewinknudge* 😉 😛
 
So they didn't show his face, but I would have recognized that voice from anywhere! I can't remember if I read this somewhere, but Nicholas is going to be in more episodes, correct?
 
I didn't see the first episode, but I will be sure to watch the others. I love Nick as an actor. He can do the cute goofy characters so well, but people forget how great he is as a villain, too.

Kean, I've read billions of Xander fics that deal with Jesse's death. Billions of Xander fics that deal with The Lie, but only one ficlet satisfied me, because usually they're either too pro-Buffy or too pro-Xander, nothing in between (except for that one ficlet.) Only a few that deal with Faith's attempted rape and all of them are great, especially those who have Xander and Angel talking about it. Recently read a ficlet that deals with Xander summoning Sweet, the aftermath and Xander's guilt. Sigh. Fanfic writers are the best.

Yup, they really are. I've read thousands of fics but there are only a handful that I would regard as "Head Canon". Mostly they have to do with what Angel did after he found out about Buffy dying. I think I have two for how he deals with the grief, one for how the meeting went and then one that leaves Buffy dead but brings her back much much later. All, are so much more than what we got in canon (imo). Yeah, fandom really is the best.

I agree, but he was featured in the title credits so probably it does.

However, this story arc is supposed to run the entire season and that's 22-24 episodes.


So there's always the chance that Brendon could return later this season or possibly S5.

Or pop up on a future episode of Grey's Anotomy as another character, Shonda loves to recycle actors.

Btw, is he still recurring on Criminal Minds?
 
Um, I caught some of tonight's, and he was on a lot of it. I recorded it to finish watching later. Tonight dealt with the aftermath of the attack, and a psychiatrist (I think? I don't really keep up with PP, although I do like it better than Gray's) was trying to get him to open up about what happened. I thought he was very good as that character!
