I just saw it again, It is such a good movie.

As much as I'd like him to do the next one, I'd love to see a Black Widow run Joss Movie, I love what he did with her character in this, he really does have a gift with strong female characters, I loved her interrogation style she used, that was brilliant!

I'm holding out hope for a Black Widow/Hawkeye/S.H.I.E.L.D. extravaganza. BW and Hawkeye were the two characters I knew nothing about going into this and yet they were the two most interesting (along with Coulson) to me.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn between wanting them to have their own movies, or if they should be in the same one (Shield, BW, Hawkeye)

Cuz I'd love to know more about them each, I knew very little about them going in to, but they kinda set them up for some cool back stories!

Finally saw it and it exceeded my expectations. I'm going to see it again. So proud of Joss. I would say best superhero movie ever tied with dark knight. I do love me some Joss but I also love me some batman.

Who IS the guy in the end-of-credits scene? Someone told me he's the god of death or something.

Absolutelty loved this film, although it is bugging me who the guy at the end is, any ideas?

It IS Thanos. He is an Eternal from Saturn's moon "Titan" who is basically in love with death and the physical being. The whole "To challenge them is to court Death" speech and the smile after in the mid-credits scene is a dead give away that it is in fact him.

OMG!!!! I am on Avengers mode since I came back from the theater! Best superhero movie EVER!!!!! I LOVE JOSS WHEDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were so many great parts in the movie that I can't think of all the moments I liked! I even liked Loki! He's a great villain (I liked him in Thor too, but I liked him a lot more in The Avengers).

I really hope Joss can take on and make a BW/Hawkeye/S.H.I.E.L.D. movie. I'd love to know more about Black Widow and Hawkeye and of course I just love the way Joss is handling Natasha's character. Kick ass supergirl, as always 😀

Seeing Joss' name everywhere at the end made me want to squee. I refrained myself for the other viewers' sake XD

I am definitely going to see this movie again next week, with or without my best friend!

I saw it for the third time.

The more I see it the more I want to see a Black Widow movie, all the subtle bits were she really came across as scared were really interesting, like just after she had the encounter with the Hulk, she stayed curled up in a ball for ages till she knew Hawkeye needed help, that seemed really interesting considering she seemed so fearless.

It was good. It had great special effects. Hulk punching Thor was funny. It made zillions of dollars. But.....

I miss TV Joss so much. And now I fear that he is gone forever.

To be fair you don't know that. Joss is finally getting mainstream success and networks are more likely to give him the funding for shows, if he wants to do them (like JJ Abrams). It's completely up to Joss, he has done a great job in film and television. I think he's had a very successful run in television and i'm happy with material he's given us, but if he can keep putting out films as good as Avengers i'd be very happy if he chose to focus more on movies

So I finally saw it last night, and I really, really enjoyed it, coming from someone who knows jack squat about Marvel or comic books. But I don't know, it's weird, but I honestly felt like something was missing. I can't pinpoint the reason why, but it seemed off somehow. I honestly expected Iron Man to sacrifice himself at the end. I guess it just didn't feel like a Joss Whedon production without somebody dying. 😛

I finally saw it today and thought it was quite good. I'd put it in my top 10 of superhero movies. I didn't like it as much as Cabin in the Woods, though.

BTW, the evil guy in the robes talking to Thanos in the final credits scene was none other than... Alexis Denisof! Believe it or not. (He was the guy talking to Loki in the opening scene, too.)

I saw this on Saturday and thought it was a fantastic film. And this is coming from someone who didn't particularly like Iron Man, hated Hulk, and thought Captain America was dumb. I did unexpectedly really enjoy Thor though. Considering all this and that Joss made me like every single one of these characters, it's just an amazing piece of work.

Joss: "But I have to kill someone or there will be no emotional resonance. Can I kill Captain America's girlfriend?"

Exec: "He doesn't have one. He's been frozen for 70 years. Damn, Joss, didn't you get it out of your system with Cabin in the Woods?"

Joss: "Well, let me temporarily kill Phil Coulson. He's not a superhero, so people might believe he's really dead."

Exec: "Fine. Or you could kill Cobie Smulders' character."

Joss: "Nah, then Alyson Hannigan would really get paranoid. She doesn't trust me around Alexis as it is. Oh, that reminds me: The Other dies in the sequel."

I went and watched it last night and I loved it. It was amazing. I liked how it started off with action straight from the start. The character's were awesome. My favorite was Stark, he's just hilarious and the way he connected with Banner was sweet. Some of my favorite funny moments came from him, like when Captain America tells Thor to put down his hammer, Stark's comment is so funny, also his line after the Hulk wakes him up about anyone kissing him. There's probably loads more that I just cant think of 🙂

I also loved Banner. This was my most favorite Hulk so far. The bit with Loki had everyone laughing in the pictures, plus the bit were he randomly thumps Thor! Captain America was great as well, his comment about getting the monkey reference was so sweet! He's also a natural leader. Once everyone decides to work together they just look to him to give out the orders.

Thor is my second favorite. He's very kick ass. I loved his ''adopted'' comment. I was also amazed at Black Widow, her manipulation skill were awesome, the way she played Loki was so genuine. I wasnt a huge fan of Hawkeye, although I did like the relationship that was shown between Black Widow and him. I also like that he ran out of arrows because normally in films that's never a problem 🙂

I was sad when Phil died. I didnt like how Fury manipulated the group though with those playing cards. I know it needed to be done but it was still sly.

I had two little pet peeves about it though, and this is just being way too picky, but the fact that all it took was a bump on the head to free them from the mind control seemed a bit too easier and that while Erik Selvig was under that control he built a fail safe, again just a bit too easy.

Other than that it was a fantastic film, the humor's great and the action is awesome!

Just came back from my 2nd watch (this time in French). Just gotta say, UltraAVX makes the movie feel like it was made in IMAX! At times I even had to close my eyes because I really thought Hulk would jump out of the screen and punch us!!! 😀

Some Buffy/Angel parallels I saw this time around:
-The S.H.I.E.L.D. complex being destroyed at the beginning... Just like Sunnydale in Chosen
-I know Loki already had that costume in Thor, but the horns made me think of the ram in Wolfram & Hart...
-Nick Fury's eyepatch... Just like Xander. And he was watching more than anything else... Just like Xander.

I'm sure I could find tons of other parallels, but those are the ones that stuck in my head 🙂

Oh, and my best friend loved it as much as I did!

I just got back from finally seeing "The Avengers," and I can't help ut say that Joss writes/directs one helluva Armageddon, by any name. Just think of the final battle in either "Chosen" or "Not Fade Away" with that kind of budget and that kind of CGI available. And I couldn't help but transpose Illyria (at full power, not the weakened state that she became after her first couple of episodes) and Hamilton with the Hulk and Loki, even though it would have deprived Angel of his big heroic confrontation. Hamilton lying crumpled and groaning with Illyria walking away muttering, "Mess with a hell god again sometime, sucker."

(Okay, I've had my fantasy, now to be serious)

They've been building up for this ever since the first "Iron Man" (or was it "Incredible Hulk"? Whichever movie was made first) movie,and it certainly lived up to the hype. The end, with Stark and Banner leaving together, makes me think that an "Iron Man/Hulk" pair up movie would be a lot of fun, if done right. Since the military seems to have an interest in both getting control of the "Iron Man weapon" and stopping or capturing the Hulk, it would seem to be a natural.

Whatever the next one happens to be, there probably won't be a "John Carter 2" boycott (or most likely, even a "John Carter 2" movie, dammit!) so I'll get to see it earlier in its run. Not the first day, but later in the first week.

Does anyone know if Joss is actually committed to doing the sequel at this point, or is it too soon to tell? I know that he said that he wanted to do it, but he wanted it to be less action and more about the team actually learning to interact and trust each other, and Disney might not care for that idea.

I don't think that it was as much a question of being under thrall to the Tesseract as it was that it became so powerful that he just plain lost control of it. I got the impression that it got more and more powerful, the more that it was used, sort of like the Hulk getting more and more powerful, the madder he gets (which sort of makes it more appropriate and even ironic that the one creature who was both powerful and savage enough to defeat Loki that way was the Hulk, since iIt was all that smashing beforehand that made him that strong)
