Spuffy #2 - General Discussion

Gabrielleabelle just posted a poll on future!domestic!Spuffy. And just taking the poll and reading the comments makes me realise all over again how much I love the idea of it. *happy sigh* I like the fluffy parts of the relationship and I'm not gonna apologise for that. 😀

Anyway, take the poll:

Domestic Spuffy Poll

I go back and forth on how I feel regarding fluffy!Spuffy.

I mean, when I try to picture them together in the future with kids and married and all that....I just can't see it. I can't see Buffy like that with Angel, either. I see her as a warrior, fighting alone till the end of days. It's like there's a block. I just can't see it. For me, Spuffy is fiery all-consuming passion, which is almost always temporary. They had what it took to maintain a long-term love - trust, mutual respect, affection, desire - but unfortunately, that's not in the cards for them. Lasting romantic happiness, I mean. Heroes are defined by the sacrifices they make for others. Buffy sacrificed Spike for her mission. She allowed him to die because she had too, just like when she killed Angel to stop Acathla.

I've read the fan fic, and some of it's good...but a part of me loves them best as fighting allies and best friends. Of course I believed they were in love, but I think the reason Buffy didn't argue with Spike that night in the Hellmouth was because she knew that what was going down was more important than their love, and that in the end, she'd end up alone. Heroes live and die alone. It's how it's always been. Buffy is a true hero. This thing with Evil!Angel? It won't last. I can't believe it. It's all "too good to be true."

I won't stop shipping Spuffy if they don't end up together in the end. I'll always love what they had, and I'll always believe in their love. They don't have to be together to realize the impact they've made on each other. They changed each other. He was her gift. Her love for him saved the world! They're beautiful and amazing and incredible just as they were.

I like Dan's idea, though, of a scene between Twangel, Buffy, and Spike. That could be mighty interesting. Yet, I don't know if I like the idea of Spike swooping in to "save the girl." In my mind, Buffy doesn't need to be saved. She needs to get her head out of her - ahem, groin area - and get herself out of this mess with Twangel before she burns all her bridges... as we all know; every time Angel and Buff get "groiny" (as Cordy once said) bad, bad things happen.

Thanks for writring my thoughts down but i think Buffy needs someone in her life. I feel really sad for her in season 8.
I'm not that keen on domestic Spuffy - but then, I'm not reading much fic at the moment because I can't seem to find the sort I'm looking for - Maybe its the comics - I like my fiction to sort of 'fit in' with canon (i know that completely contradicts the purpose of fanfic) and because we don't know the staus of Buffy and Spike (does she know that he's alive or not?) I can't seem to find any enjoyment in reading fanfiction. Maybe we'll have some answers soon....

I'll read any and all kinds of fic, as long as it's well-written. Canon, fill-in-the-blanks, AU, all-human... whatever.

I successfully managed to avoid any and all talk of the newest comics isssue. Go me!

It wasn't as disasterous as I expected. It was just Sex. And now if the Bangles ever say "ewww graphic Spuffy sex in season six grossed me out" as they often do, we can remind them of season 8. Season six never got that graphic.

Reasoning with many of the Bangels is a Sisyphus task, though. I'm not saying all, or even most, Bangels are closed-minded, but closed-mindedness does seem to concentrate more in the Bangel camp than on the Back Steps. They'll just pull out the battered old "soul" card - a talisman that has seen better days, Xander would start shaking it to check if it's broken... if Xander were a Bangel, that is (sw) - and start mumbling "I do believe in fairies".

Anyone got any ideas on how we can keep the thread ticking along?

a set of five weekly questions?
A weekly challenge that we can write a longer response to?
Spuffy season by season?

all suggestions welcome 🙂

I like all these ideas :)
I really, really tried to make this exactly 100 words. But it ended up at 102 words. I just couldn't sacrifice any two of those to make it a 'proper' drabble, lol.

This is set in some post-NFA future where the events of the comics never happened, S&B reunited and live Spuffily ever after. 'Cos that's how I like it. 🙂

Drabble #1
Prompt Word: Twilight

“…and he was calling himself Twilight.”

Spike snorted in derision.

“I know, completely lame, right? But I can’t help what my subconscious makes up.” Buffy shrugged, and burrowed deeper beneath the sheets.

“Dents a man’s ego a bit, pet,” Spike said. “Here in my arms after another night of devastatingly good sex and you wake up dreaming of the big poof?” He clasped a hand to his chest dramatically. “That hurts.”

“Oh, however can I make it up to you?”

“I can think of a few ways.”

He started kissing up her neck and she sighed in happiness. “Oh, Twili—”

“Slayer!”

Next Prompt Word: FIRE

Can I do one for twilight too?? It's a little longer than 100 words...

Drabble #1
Prompt word - Twilight

Buffy burst through the apartment door fully expecting to get a mouthful about being polite and a lecture on the importance of knocking. . . yeah from a vampire "“ go figure. What she didn't expect was to see was a hazy glimpse of Spike pushing something down the back of his shabby couch and a guilty expression cross his face. She couldn't help but wonder what he was up to"¦

"Trouble?" Spike asked innocently as he got up from his seat
"You could say that. Guthenji demons, five of them raising heck down at the cemetery. So much more convenient when you chose to live in one."
"Nasty buggers. You got weapons?"
"Just my trusty ol' stake."
"You're gonna need more "“ they've got chests like reinforced steel, not to mention two hearts."
"Oh"¦"
"Never mind, I've got a few things that should prove useful."

No sooner had he left the room than Buffy was at the sofa, pushing her hand in behind the cushions to find what it was that he'd hidden. She found it and pulled it out. It was a book, a novel called Twilight. Buffy read the blurb and laughed to herself. No wonder he'd been so keen to hide his choice of reading matter"¦

Prompt on deck - Fire

LOL! Is Spike jealous of their sparkly skin?
Hee, excellent! I'd love to see Spike MST-ing Twilight, lol.

Okay, no one else has done anything for Fire, so I wrote something. Kinda longer than a regular drabble... more like a little ficlet. Oh well.

Set in season 6, sometime after Wrecked. Spike takes Buffy to another demon bar.

Drabble #2
Prompt Word: Fire

""¦'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire."

Buffy could feel his gaze on her, burning in its intensity as she took a seat. She nodded to the scaly-demon behind the bar and he handed her a drink. The liquid burned as she swallowed and she finally allowed herself to look up at the makeshift stage, not surprised in the least at the way his eyes were fixed on hers.

""¦you had a hold on me right from the start, a grip so tight I couldn't tear it apart."

She shivered, the lyrics of the song hitting a little too close to home. She hated it. Hated him for doing this, for thinking he loved her.

The demons in the bar seemed to be enjoying the performance, waving their arms in the air and cheering, but Buffy paid them no mind, her attention focused solely on Spike and the far-too-sensual way he was caressing the microphone stand.

She felt it then, that little frisson of heat in her lower belly that Spike had no right igniting. It twisted and burned as she watched him, the look and sound and sight of him sending tingles down her spine.

He met her eyes once more and a slow smirk spread across his face. "You say you don't love me, but I know you're a liar. 'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire."

The spark lit, the flames ignited and later, when he had her pressed against the wall of his crypt, his mouth hot and hard against hers, she could do nothing but let it burn.

***

The song in this is 'Fire'... and I have no idea who sang it first. But James Marsters has a cover, which you can hear in the YT vid. I altered the lyrics a little to fit more with S6 Spike and Buffy. 😉

Oooh, I'm listening to that over and over. Bruce Springsteen originally wasn't it?
Hey guys! I need your help.

My posting day at seasonal_spuffy is the 22nd May and I've got hardly anything done. I want to make some icons, but I need help deciding just which moments to icon.

Ideally, they wouldn't be the moments that everyone does - that'd be the Touched, Smashed, Dead Things etc., all the 'big' Spuffy moments. So... any ideas for scenes I can make icons from that you don't see in artwork very often?

Thanks in advance!

Afterlife has some good ones. The look on his face when he sees Buffy is really there, and when he's looking at her hands. I love the part of Chosen when she puts her hand on his face too, just before it shows them lying in bed.

AMY! I was just thinking yesterday how much I wanted some icons done from the scene in Hells Bells with them in the hallway talking. I love, love that scene...they both look gorgeous.

Hells Bells, yes... that would be a good one. Not done any from that before and it's a nice, bright scene so the icon colouring could be really vibrant.

I actually did a series of 'hands' icons for my seasonal_spuffy stuff last round (below). Hands really are focussed on a lot in the Spuffy relationship...

Okay - Just to keep conversation pumping...

Topic of the Week: Let's talk Season 2 Spike and Buffy (pre-Spuffy Spuffy if you will)

Did you like Spike right from the start?
What were the landmark episodes and why?
What were your favourite Buffy-Spike moments from season two?
Any things that foreshadow what was to come?
Anything else S&B season two-related that you want to mention...

[Also - we still have drabble prompts on deck - 'Twilight', 'Fire' and 'Motorbike']

Thanks for keeping this thread alive, Tranquility! 🙂
Did you like Spike right from the start?
No. Well, not really. I was a hardcore Buffy fangirl from the start, and I thought Spike was deliciously evil, but initially I resented him for trying to kill Buffy. I hated anyone who tried to hurt Buffy. I thought his hair was sorta weird looking, and Dru irritated me. I thought he was a great villain, but that was about it. I assumed she'd kill him.

When he came back, he grew on me, and was definitely my favorite character, and I started to think that he was a excellent addition to the cast. but I didn't become a Spuffy until I stumbled upon the online fandom, and it was the passion of the Spuffy fans that got me invested in the relationship.

What were the landmark episodes and why?
For me it was 'Intervention.' Spike showed for the first time that his love for Buffy was selfless, and that he had the capacity to be good and do good deeds without a soul. That made him an anomaly, and different then other vampires, and infinitely more interesting to me.

What were your favourite Buffy-Spike moments from season two?
The scene in 'Becoming Part 2.' but of course:
Joyce: "Buffy, terrible things have happened. What were you doing?"
Spike: "What, your mum doesn't know?"
(Buffy glares at Spike.)
Joyce: (to Spike) "Know what?"
Buffy: (faces her mom) "That I'm, uh... in a band. A rock band with
Spike here.
Spike: "Right. She plays the, the triangle."
Buffy: "Drums."
Spike: "Drums, yeah. She's, uh, hell on the old skins, you know."
Joyce: (unconvinced) "Hmm. And, uh, what do you do?"
Spike: "Well, I sing."
Buffy: "You know what? Why don't we go inside, and we can talk
about this." (nods)
I loved them as uneasy allies. 🙂

Any things that foreshadow what was to come?
When Spike tells her in FFL: "Every Slayer has a death wish", foreshadowing her jump into the portal in "The Gift."

Also - we still have drabble prompts on deck - 'Twilight', 'Fire' and 'Motorbike']

I will take my shot at a drabble soon, I think...I've never written one, so I'm attempting to formulate one in my head.
