1. Do you think Spike realized it was love when he woke up from that dream in "Out of My Mind", or did he realize it later down the road? And if the latter, approximately when do you think he realized it?

I think Spike realized he was in love with Buffy in the alley scene in FFL, when she throws the money in his face. It's then that he realizes that for the first time he was helping her not for the money but out of a real desire to help her. You can see his honest hurt on his face when she says "you're beneath me." He quickly covers it up, but for a moment it's like he's in physical pain. Only a person you love can hurt you that much with her words.

2. Which of the triangles involving Spike/Buffy -- brief or long-lasting -- interested you the most? The least? (e.g. Riley/Buffy/Spike, Spike/Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike/Faith etc.)

The most: Spike/Buffy/Angel. Hot stuff.
The least: Riley/Buffy/Spike. Just...ew.

3. Would Dawn approve of Spike/Buffy, or would she hold a grudge about the bathroom scene?
Dawn's grown a lot, and I think she'd understand and support them. I like to think she forgave him long ago.

4. Are there any Spike/Buffy-related lines/scenes in shooting scripts that you wish had made it onscreen? (find the shooting scripts at Buffyworld)
I don't know. I'll have to look them over.

5. Have you or are you planning on writing any Buffy/Spike meta? Self-pimp away

I actually have not written a specific S/B meta, although I'd like to write my own manifesto.

I acctually think he did realise that he was in love with Buffy in that moment when he woke up from the dream in OOMM. In the dream he says "Buffy, I love you" and he wakes up going "Oh no, please no." because he knows that being in love with the Slaer is not going to be a picnic. He knows what he's like when he's in love (he's love's bitch after all) and he is terrified of what it means and of what he might do in the name of love.

2. Which of the triangles involving Spike/Buffy -- brief or long-lasting -- interested you the most? The least? (e.g. Riley/Buffy/Spike, Spike/Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike/Faith etc.)

Probably Riley/Buffy/Spike because that was sort of played out while we were getting Riley out of town. Angel/Buffy/Spike is both interesting and infuriating because so much of it depends on your interpretation of the show/comics.

3. Would Dawn approve of Spike/Buffy, or would she hold a grudge about the bathroom scene?

I reckon she'd still have issues. I still think this is one of the great untold stories of the Buffyverse - Spike and Dawn sorting things out. They used to be such great friends and I believe he loves her second only to Buffy. I'm a sucker for fics that have Spike and Dawn stories.

4. Are there any Spike/Buffy-related lines/scenes in shooting scripts that you wish had made it onscreen? (find the shooting scripts at Buffyworld)

There are. The one I'm thinking of off hand is really just a Spike scene, but it relates to Buffy:

INT. SPIKE'S CRYPT - DOWNSTAIRS - NIGHT

Spike moves about the room. Organized. Preparing.

From a chest of drawers, he pulls out a stun gun, fires it a couple times to make sure it works. Sets in on a table.

From a trunk at the foot of the bed, he brings out a coil of rope, pulling it tight. Puts it on the table, too.

He rustles some more in the trunk, reveals a set of chains. And a handful of padlocks. And a pair of handcuffs. On the table.

He rummages through a stack of records, finds just what he's looking for: an LP of Roxy Music's Avalon. He pops it on a dusty old turntable.

He lights some candles, sets a bouquet of flowers in a vase, sprinkles rose petals on the bed. He looks around, taking in his handiwork, then lets out a long, contented sigh.

There. All ready.

5. Have you or are you planning on writing any Buffy/Spike meta? Self-pimp away

Yes, I've written a ton of meta on Angel season five, from a spikecentric perspective which i'm currently in the process re-posting on my LJ, I've written a on-going review/meta on the comics initially based around this crazy theory that Satsu was Spike under a spell (Yeah, completely crazy - I said it once as a joke and the idea really took hold) but they morphed into a Spikecentric reading of season 8 (tough, I know when he's hardly there...) and I've written a big long allegorical essay about Buffy's love life which I am considering editing and re-posting on my LJ.

So, my fellow Spuffies, can we talk about the first scene in issue #37 again? I know this is old news, but I'm reading this issue again and the more I think about it, the more I think Joss is setting us up for a Spuffy revival. Why else make it so obvious that Buffy still fantasizes about Spike? And for that matter, right after she slept with Angel! I just don't see how Buffy can be as in love with Angel as she says if she's still thinking about Spike. Also worth noting is that she's fantasizing about sleeping with him in her own bed (like she did in Dead Things).

Also worth noting is in her dream kiss with him is bathed in shining light. What might this represent? Spuffy = light. Bangel = dark. This is what I've already said...nice to now the writers are getting the picture 🙂

I think he realized he had feelings for her and they were... "like" in Out of My Mind... but I think he realized he was IN LOVE with her in Fool For Love

Spike/Buffy/Angel. Buffy/Spike/Faith was uninteresting because we barely saw it. Plus I hate Faith. Riley/Buffy/Spike was just irritating because Riley was so obviously wrong for Buffy.

I think given time, and going through stuff together Dawn would get over the bathroom scene but at first she would hold a grudge.

I really like the ones StarSlayer noted. I really haven't read all of the shooting scripts though... I guess that's something to do over Christmas vacation!

I was thinking about writing something on season 7 Spuffy back when in the Bangel vs Spuffy thread there were a bunch of people saying they didn't see the love on Buffy's side... But I kept procrastinating and then I was like "eh." I think I'm going to put my essay I wrote for English about Spike and Angel on my livejournal though.. that touches on Bangel and Spuffy.


And I totally agree Joan. The more I think about it, the more I feel Spuffy is going to happen again and it's being set up right now. To me, too much has done to set Spuffy up for it to not happen.

I completely agree that Spuffy has been given a fighting chance. I think the fandom (apart from a increasingly small and stubborn sector) would go into melt-down if it was business as usual for Buffy and Angel after the events of the comic. I've seen previously non-spuffy people become much more accepting of the pair. I think that Spike has been shown to be the better souled vampire and that the time has come for Buffy to realise this. That's why I'm gonna be reading season nine.

The only thing is, IDK how much Joss is going to commit to a specific ship ending. Just look at Chosen and the forced, extremely OOC Angel appearance. He just HAD to bring that "open ending" there, even though like half the episode is about Spuffy and the ending is allll about Spike and Buffy and their love and JUST. JOSS CAN YOU GIVE US A STRAIGHT ENDING ON THIS SHIP.

I'm bitter. I accept it. :3

BTW, in #39 apparently there's a definite spike and buffy scene. Set up for teams in Season 9? Here's hoping Spike's working with Buffy 😀

This is an interesting question actually because I haven't given thought to it before. That's what I love about these questions, it gets me thinking. Though unfortunately I have to fight to not let my opinion be tainted by reading others cause I don't really want to repeat the same thing all the time. I don't want to be a sheep. Anyhow.

I do believe that he realized he had feelings for her in 'Out Of My Mind'. I don't think he really wanted to admitt himself that it was quite as far as love. I also think the realization of it actually being 'love' was gradual. As in, I can't pinpoint an exact moment but over time he found himself becoming different and doing things he wouldn't normally do and pretty soon he just had to admitt it to himself. Possibly, like Zoe said, in Fool For Love.

I find Buffy/Spike/Faith interesting yet it sets me at the edge of my seat. Because I know Faith and Spike are very similar people with a lot of sexual attraction. I don't want it to be that way. During the scene in Dirty Girls with the two of them I was in Buffy mode and found myself feeling extremely jealous of Faith. I just wanted her to leave Spikey alone and I'm glad she backed off. I also find Spike/Buffy/Angel interesting because those two were her great loves of the series and they were actually competition for each other--unlike Riley who was fighting a loosing battle.

3. Would Dawn approve of Spike/Buffy, or would she hold a grudge about the bathroom scene?
Dawn took what happened very, very seriously. Seeing Spike and Anya having sex destroyed her entire friendship with Spike and I don't think he is ever going to get that back the way it was. So, I do think she would hold a grudge for awhile, possibly even a very long time. But Dawn can be forgiving, and she would accept it. She would just have to wait for Spike to really prove himself first before she could trust him again and even then, nothing would go back to the way it was.

I love shooting scripts but I actually haven't read enough of the Spuffy-ish ones to know. I do agree that the ones StarSlayer posted were amazing. But other than that, I'll have to read over them.

I'm sure I have said this in another thread but I want to write one. I have a lot of ideas but I don't think they would make very good stories. They are just for me and my sister to talk about and laugh about and make little jokes to fit in with them. (Speaking of my sister, she is a huge Spuffy too and will be joining the forum come tomorrow. Look for GingerbreadWitch 🙂 ). They just don't make enough sense and aren't advanced enough to be fanfictions. But I have said that maybe I should write a Time Travel fic. Kind of clitche but I think I could make it work. Have Buffy travelling back to William's time or something. 🙂

That's a really good point too 🙂 And Spike also knows that being in love with Buffy, the slayer no less, is wrong.
