Spuffy Fic Recs

I haven't yet read Origins because it's so long, and I don't know if it's been recommended here, but it is on my list of fics to read. 😀
 
It's one of my faves. Niamh writes how I wish I could write.

You're a good writer! I read your fic 'Until Then' last night and absolutely loved it! :D
I have read a different fic by Niamh, though, called "Baby Love". One of the first Spuffy fics I read. Very good.
 
That's one of the very few all human ones that I've enjoyed. I got into fanfic for the Slayer and her (my) favorite vamp boytoy. LOL. So I'm not really into the all human stories.
 
Okay, so apparently posting on fanfiction.net isn't the best way for people to see your stuff. Any recommendations on the best place to publish stories?

Spuffy Realm is the best and most popular. It's easy yo use, too.
Elysian Fields, The Spuffy Realm, Sinister Attraction, bloodshedverse...There's more, but at the moment I can't think of them. Ask Amy (xaphania). She knows everything there is to know about Spuffy fanfic. 😀
 
Sinister Attraction doesn't take stories anymore or update WIPs. If you want to post at Bloodshedverse make sure your characters are in character and you have a very, very, very good beta.

Spuffy Realm and Elysian Fields are the most active of the Spuffy sites.
 
I recommend The Spuffy Realm and Elysian Fields, too.

As Mary said, Bloodshedverse are a bit picky when it comes to what they allow through the validation queue.

There's Sweet Temptation too, but that's just for all-human fics.

And there's always livejournal, of course. Plenty of communities to post fics to on there.
 
Yeah, LJ has lots of opportunties. If you want to know some of them, just let us know. I'm fairly certain xaph and I know plenty. Personally, I have to be careful of ficathon communities. I'm a sucker for them. LOL
 
So, um, not so much a rec as a self-pimp. Is that okay? 😀

Anyway... I finally started posting the fic I've been working on for the last couple of months. It might not appeal to everyone because it's all-human, but I hope that if you do like that genre of Spuffy fic, you'll give it a go. There are supernatural and mystical elements and plenty of familiar Buffyverse faces. 🙂

It's complete and I'll be updating twice weekly at my livejournal, The Spuffy Realm and Elysian Fields.

Rating: PG-13
Summary: On a visit to the most haunted island in Britain, Buffy Summers is surprised but happy to find herself falling in love with the enigmatic Spike Giles, who eagerly returns her feelings. When a ghost-walk goes awry, they find their lives entwined with those of William and Elizabeth, two lovers who lived more than a century ago. All-human AU with supernatural elements.

Just finished Legions of True Hearts by Eurydice. Loved it! Started the sequel. So far so good. 😀

Your fic sounds intriguing and exciting, Amy. I'll be sure to read it soon. I'd start now but I'm "supposed" to be studying for my maths exam tomorrow. 😉

Oh, Eurydice is amazing. Love Legions of True Hearts... haven't read it in a while. I think it might be time for a re-read, actually. 😀

I'm currently reading two fics; Closer to Midnight by amyxaphania and Dedicated Amataurs by Minx DeLovely.

The first I'm really enjoying so far more than I thought I would, actually. It's a all-human fic, which usually aren't my style, but never the less, I'm loving it. Definitely reccomended. It's rated PG-13, so I can link to it here. http://amyxaphania.livejournal.com/234718.html

As for the later, it's rated R, so I can't link to it, but you can find it on the Spuffy Realm in the Recent section or you can search by story name. MinxDeLovely is new to the fandom, but she's an excellent writer. I've really enjoyed her stories.

I'm glad you're enjoying my fic even though all-human is not necessarily your thing.

I had a quick look at the summary for Minx DeLovely's fics and they sound good - her page has been added to my reading list (I just started using readitlaterlist.com which is very useful when you come across a fic or post you, well, want to read later.)

I've just finished a re-read of Mixing Business With Fanfic by my good friend Sotia. It's all-human, but combines the Buffyverse in a really unique way. Higher rated fic, but can be found at all the usual Spuffy sites. Actually I'd rec all of Sotia's fic. She's an excellent writer. 😀

All right, so I just finished reading Dampersandspoons' The Butcher. Fan freaking tastic. I can't link here cause it's higher rated, but oh my god. It's the kind of fic you stay up beyond all reasonable hours trying to finish, just cause you can't. stop. reading. Ugh, it's amazing.

It's AU, all human. Really angsty, but in a good way. 😀 But even if that's not your thing, it's really, really good. I'm not much of an all human/AU girl myself, but THIS WAS SO GOOD, you guys. So worth it if you're looking to explore outside your usual preferences.

It's on Elysian Fields, but I read most of it on Nocturnal Light.

It doesn't look like Nocturnal Light is being updated anymore, but I looove the format (so easy to read!) and it's great for reading already completed fics. Bring some tissues with you when you read this fic! 😛

Just read The Butcher. So emotionally gripping and so amazing. One of my favourite Spuffy fics. 🙂

Okay, I know I sound like a broken record here, but for anyone who didn't see my last post in this thread, you have to read "Dedicated Amateurs" by Minx DeLovely. I'm loving it more and more. It's so devastatingly sad but also really hopeful at the same time. It is quite smutty, so if that's not your thing then I'd say skip it.

I've worked my way through all of Minx DeLovely's fics since you recommended them. 😀 They're a good read.

Dampers posts at Elysian Fields and her livejournal. I can't link because pretty much all her fics are of the more mature variety. 😀
