Spuffy Fic Recs

I'm in love with Season 8 fics right now. I've always loved post-series fics, but now Issue #40 has really made me fall in love with the Spuffy dynamic all over again in Season 8! There's a really great Season 8 (Or is it Season 9 now? Set after the events of issue #40) fic that I love: Embers by Coalitiongirl

It's still a work in progress, but the first few chapters are really good! Coalitiongirl is a wonderful writer too, so I'd bet all the money in my wallet the rest of the story is worth the read. 🙂

ETA: oh, I just realized Moscow Watcher rec'd Embers already, lol! It's been updated with two more chapters since she posted though, so go read those if you haven't yet! Go! 😀 😀
 
Gah!!!! I just read one of the BEST Buffy/William stories I have ever read and I didn't realized that it was unfinished. Last update was in 2006, so I think it's safe to say it'll never be finshed. Super sad face. 🙁

I HATE that. It's so horrible and I always cry.
I just finished Beg the Liquid Red by Eurydice and it was fantastic. It's a post-Chosen/AtS Season 5 fic with a really great twist. Highly recommended. That was the first of Eurydice's stories I've read, and she's a really fantastic writer!
 
Guys, I need a really, really, really, really good, engaging, well-written Spuffy fic, because I've started drifting away from Spuffy fanfic and I need to be drawn back in. Pretty please. 😀

What kind of fic are you looking for? Canon, missing moment, AU, post-series, pre-series, all-human...?

What have you already read?
 
Have you read any of Anaross' fics? She's got some great, long angsty ones. She's on livejournal and at the Just Rewards archive.

Hmm... dampersandspoons is an excellent author - I'd recommend anything of hers. Do you like all-human fics? She has a lovely angsty one called The Butcher.

Okay, I'm just gonna list off authors I like and would rec any of what they've written. They'll probably all be at either Spuffy Realm, Elysian Fields or Bloodshedverse, but if you have any problem locating them send me a PM.

Ha. Are you doing the Bangel for a Month thing? white avenger, Wishing Oceans, and I all did that. It was brutal, lol. Fascinating, though, to see that ship through the eyes of its fans.

Can't wait to have you back safe in the good ship Spuffy, though.

As for fic recs, I've been reading Thought You Should Know by Angearia. Definitely reccomended if you have not read it already.

Here's a summary;

Before the final battle in Not Fade Away, Spike sent Buffy a letter saying goodbye, never expecting to survive the fight or ever see her again. But survive he does only to discover there isn’t much room in Buffy's new world for long-lost romance. The reunited pair must face deception, betrayal, and oh yeah, a whole lot of people who want the Slayer and her allies dead. Permanently.

Spike/Buffy, ensemble cast of Buffy and Angel. Set in the canon of the Season 8 and After the Fall comics. R. +100,000 words. Work In Progress. *Last Updated with Chapter 36* (March 2009 - Present)

Does anyone know the name of that Spuffy fic where Buffy wakes up post-the Gift hundreds of years in the future? I'm currently reading a future Bangel fic *hangs head in shame* and it reminded of that.

Which one was it? There's a few with that premise. I remember one by Isobel and EnigmaticBlue (though that was only a couple of decades later).

If you like that kind of fic... I highly recommend Brave New World by JamesMFan. It's still a WIP unfortunately, but has been updated fairly recently and there's a lot already up to read. Really great fic - it's at the Bloodshedverse.

ETA: Also! You should feel ashamed of the Bangel reading! 😛 (jk)

Well, I found Spiegel I'm Spiegel, but now that Moscow Watcher mentioned Future Imperfect, I think that's the one I was actually looking for, because Spiegel I'm Spiegel's summary is a little different than what I was going for originally.

I know, I know! I shouldn't read Bangel, but I have to! I'm a Bangel this month. I was rec'd this fic called Phoenix Burning which is set in the year 2353 but the being in the future part is much more interesting than the Bangelness. I just can't take Bangel seriously. It feels so awkward. I don't feel the love. 😀

Fic rec! I'm really enjoying hello_spikey's Seasonal Spuffy fic "Perils of the Self-Domesticating Vampire". Funny, fluffy season 6 Spuffy (if you can believe that).

I just finished Imitation of a Man. It was such an amazing fic! But so sad and angsty!

I know I'm spoiling myself here, but...does it have a happy ending? I've read lots of sad fics lately and I'm looking for a happy angsty one :D
