Spuffy S7: Friends or Lovers?

Oh, damn. We're just never going to convince those pesky Bangels, are we? Even with a detailed post like that. Great job, though! I admire the effort you put into it, and of course I agree. I don't see how you can read that quote in Touched and not know she loved him. Not as a friend, but really, truly loved him. Of course she did. She was too caring of him at that point to give him that kind of encouragement otherwise.

No, they weren't technically lovers, but they were so definitely in love. I just... don't know how you could see it any differently.

People see what they want to see. That's the way it will always be. Fans will always interpret a scene to their liking, to suit their preferred Ship. This is something I'm just starting to realize. It might seem obvious to us that Spike and Buffy were in love, but the Bangels will always insist they were "just friends", just as the Spuffies will always contest that Angel was wrong for her and that she belongs with Spike.

But I agree, of course. That look on her face in "Showtime" when she rescues Spike is pure love. Hard to argue.

You have to really love someone and feel completely comfortable with them to spend an entire night just laying with them and staring into their eyes.

---------- Post added at 09:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 AM ----------

I've been a Spuffy shipper since the first episode ("Once More With Feeling") of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" that I ever saw. Except for a single month, from that moment to the present, I remain a Spuffy shipper, and will continue to be so after the end of Season 8, past the end of Season 9, and, if there is a Season 10, 15, or 10098, I do not see any change in that feeling. To me, Buffy and Spike balance each other, compliment each other, and simply belong together, forever and always. Period.

I have, however, come to this conclusion. Though Buffy is definitely, unquestionably, in love with Spike, even though it took her a long time, possibly too long, to realize it, she is also definitely and unquestionably in love with Angel. I believe that she could spend the rest of her life, either as a normal human woman with a normal human man, having fat happy normal human babies and living happily forever after, or as a super human demon fighter with an equally powerful lover, fighting the forces of evil, side by side or back to back, with either man, and be totally fulfilled. Buffy loves both men. Differently, but equally. She could spend the rest of her life, happily, with either man. And that is not to say that, if and when she does finally decide between the two, she will stop loving the other one. Both Angel and Spike hold places in Buffy's heart, and they always will.

Shockingly enough, I think I might disagree with you here.

I don't know if I believe that it's possible to be in love with two people at once. I believe Buffy's feelings for Angel and Spike have changed over the years. In my opinion, she is no longer is "in love" with Angel. Yes, he will always have a place in her heart but...does that make sense? I think in order for her to be truly "in love" with Spike (which I felt she was in S7) she needed to have let go of Angel. Spike replaced Angel in her heart.

At least that's how I choose to interpret it. Angel and Buffy's "reunion" in 'Chosen' felt more like a meeting between old friends to me then it did a romantic reunion. Despite the kiss, it didn't feel tomantic to me at all. His jealousy was obviously a turn-off to Buffy, not endearing, and you all know I feel her 'cookie dough' speech was pure fan-service.

I feel like the kiss was very fan-service as well. It didn't really fit--it was just kinda thrown in. In my opinion, anyway!

YOU DISAGREE WITH ME?? I am cut to the quick. Have you ever seen a cut quick? Believe me, it's a horrid sight.

Trust me, I can assure you from personal experience, it's not only possible, it's sometimes downright unavoidable. I'm not going to go into any of my personal details here, but I would suggest that you watch "The Prince Of Tides" if you never have, or even better, read the book.

Great book. The audio book was read by Frank Muller; he's a great narrator.
As I always say, you cannot seperate the love from the lover. Based upon our experiences we'll always state what is 'unequivocally true' about love. Did Buffy love both Spike and Angel? Possibly.

I also do believe strongly in the cookie dough speech and can relate to it. Shippers often take the crumbs, whether it's giving Angel the brush off (for captain peroxide) or that she doesn't see realistic romantic future with Spike. These are partially true because she wasn't trying to look that far ahead. The speech is about not trying define yourself through others which is ironically what most shippers do. They believe she needs someone with darkness just because her power is rooted in it or that she needs someone supernatural because she is. Her identity is not as easily defined.

I personally do see love when she was with (with in a manner of speaking) Spike. Not because I ship them and not because I want to see them togther. It's because while friendship is a powerful thing, I see something beyond that. I see it in the text, in the body language and as I said before, even the other characters see something there. Even Giles mentioned that although it isn't physical there is a connection and with her conversation with Angel, it only makes sense when talking about Spike in a romantic context otherwise it doesn't make sense. Why would they make the comparison between her connection with Spike and Angel if there were no romantic undertones? Do Bangelists really need the lines to be that defined? Do I need to mention Buffy fantasizing about them wrestling in oil? Again Bangelists, I don't know if you think about your totally platonic friends in that way but...

OMG..... Angel and Spike wrestling in oil!

Lol. Xander probably thought about Buffy and Willow wrestling.
I love the oil comment. Pretty solid evidence, IMO, that there's more feeling than friendship when it comes to both boys 😉

First off, amazing post Wishing Oceans. You made a lot of interesting points.

I'm not a Spuffy fan, but I will admit that I see a strong bond between the two of them. I'm not totally oblivious. xD The friendship that developed between the two of them in season 7 was beautiful. But as a Bangel fan, I do believe that Angel is her beloved. He was her first love, and once upon a time, her world. The chemistry and love between them was pretty undeniable.

With Buffy and Spike, it is also undeniable that there is definitely something there. Whether that'd be love or a strong friendship. I mean Spike, without question, loved Buffy but it was always tough for me to really pinpoint Buffy's feelings towards him. I mean at times it seems like a strong friendship and understanding between them. Then there are other times (particularly that infamous scene in "Touched") that make it seem as if she actually felt a love for him.

I'm more accepting of the theory that she loved both of them equally rather than just one actually. Yes, even if that one turned out to be Angel. Because then I just see myself feeling sorry for Spike. xD No, but seriously that is a good thoery especially considering her fantasy in the season 8 arc involving the 3 of them. I know I don't think of totally platonic friends that way. So, while I prefer Buffy with Angel I do see that something between her and Spike.

I think they shared a deep connection, something bigger than friendship but it doesn't have to be anything 'romantic'. That's actually the reason I see their friendship in S7 as so beautiful. It wasn't about sex anymore and it had nothing to do with Spike's lust/love for her or Buffy trying to 'feel something', they were just there for each other when they needed to be.

Couldn't of said that any better myself. 🙂 Perhaps this is what I've been looking for to define those two. xD

First off, amazing post Wishing Oceans. You made a lot of interesting points.

Welcome to the Boards! You seem like a nice girl, I'm sure you'll love it here. 😀

But as a Bangel fan, I do believe that Angel is her beloved. He was her first love, and once upon a time, her world. The chemistry and love between them was pretty undeniable.

It's nice to find a Bangel fan who can appreciate Spuffy. 🙂 But, as we know, first loves rarely work out. You need to love and lose a couple times before you can really find what you want in a relationship. 😀 And as you said, "once upon a time." IMO, their love is now over. Whether Angel says "ours is a forever love" or not, it was pretty much outright stated in Chosen that their time together was done, they'd both moved on. Angel loved Cordy, and Buffy loved Spike. Although I'm not a Cangel fan, the Cangel relationship was a much deeper and more meaningful 'ship than Bangel, IMO. And I never really thought that they had chemistry. Their personalities are CRAZY different, they never actually understood each other, and Angel always seemed to physically overpower her. Like in Lovers Walk for example, when he was standing behind her. He was literally two times her size in every way, and he looked HUGE in comparison. IMO it looked very weird. 😀 Spike definitely is a better physical match for her. Both are small and thin. 🙂

Well she definitely loved him. 😀 The controversy is in what way, although us Spuffies have always found it to be blaringly obvious that it was in a romantic way.

Here are some fantastic quotes on Spuffy, said by our very favorite Jane Espenson:

If someone is there for you, is asking nothing of you and has loved you faithfully and unconditionally for all those years, and if that person is the one that you turn to for comfort and support when you are at your most vulnerable, and if they give you that comfort and support unconditionally asking nothing in return, then whether you acknowledge it or not, that is love, so yes, Buffy loved Spike.

Some would say Angel and Buffy really had more of an idealized first love while Spike and Buffy have the more adult, messy, kind of love which is more realistic. That's right. It's not idealized and it's just so often ugly and yet when James Marsters does stuff where you look in his face and you go, 'Oh, my God, he loves her so much!' Ahh! It's just so wonderful.

How do you follow-up her romance with Angel? I like the romance with Spike better. I'm more interested in the heat between those two characters because I felt Buffy and Angel had romantic love. Spike and Buffy have something so much more complicated that it's got that romance and all this other stuff on top of it which makes it so interesting for me.

I've been interested in Principal Wood this year. But my number one has got to be the Buffy and Spike love story. I think that is just a gorgeous story.[/right]

Yes she sat there in silence with him there. I think she didn't know why she was there. She wanted to be with someone... who wasn't demanding anything of her... and wasn't expecting anything. And someone who could understand, because he has the line I really like where he looks at her hands and he knows right away she crawled out of the grave. And it's hard to hear, the line that gets a little lost but he says "I've done it myself" or been there. There is the implication that he is identifying with her because he also crawled out of his own grave. Then when he says the I've saved you lots of times, I think all we can do is know what we would be thinking and the kind of person Buffy is... she needs to be thinking, wow what a guy.

Anyway, I'm sure by now you're thinking how horrid and mean we all are, but don't worry. We're all just highly passionate and opinionated. 😀

I think that the majority of both the Spuffy and the Bangel shippers look at the opposing relationship with a kind of skeptical attitude, fully convinced that THEIR ship is the one and only path to true happiness for Buffy. Maybe what we need to do is find a group of people who have never seen a single episode of Buffy or Angel, let them watch all of the key Bangel and Spuffy episodes, and then vote on whether they believe that Buffy really loved one, the other, or both vampires. That might be interesting as well as informative.

Awh thank you! I really do like it here. Everyone's so nice. 🙂

Although I'm not a Cangel fan, the Cangel relationship was a much deeper and more meaningful 'ship than Bangel, IMO.

Yes thats true, first loves rarely do work out. Most of the time it's an age related issue. And even though Buffy was very young when she began her relationship with Angel, it was different then the typical high school romance, not just because he's a vampire but because they connected on such a deep level. And the reason I said "once upon a time" is because Buffy did move on from Angel and formed other relationships (Riley I still never understood...) but regardless she didn't spend the rest of the series pining over Angel. But my best friend said something really interesting about a love people have for one another, she said "if you honestly love that person, you're never going to fall out of love with them. If you fall out of love, you were never in love to begin with." I find myself agreeing with that statement. So, applying that to Bangel, just because they moved on with other people doesn't mean the love between them ever burned out. They will always have that connection.

Sidebar. I never ever ever got why Cordy and Angel ever had to happen. I'm sorry, but Cangel just didn't make sense to me. It has nothing to do with me preferring Bangel or anything, Cangel was just...weird.

You never saw the chemistry between them? I thought both pairings had a significant amount of chemisty, but I guess it's all your perspective. They do have different personalities, but like they always say, opposites attract. 🙂

Haha David/Angel is a big guy, I'll give you that. I always found it kind of cute that she was so tiny compared to him. Regarding physical attraction, I bet it was hard for Buffy to resist Spike without a shirt on. He definitely bested Angel in that. xD

Well she definitely loved him. 😀 The controversy is in what way, although us Spuffies have always found it to be blaringly obvious that it was in a romantic way.

Haha yeahh, it's the type of love she has for him that I'm having a hard time identifying, now that I think about it. xD

Thank you for the quotes from Jane Espenson though. I've never read them before and they really put things in persective for me. I suppose it's possible, and believeable, that she loved both men equally.

But even so, a part of me will always prefer her with Angel. 🙂

Oh no, I wasn't thinking that at all. I always like talking to other fans about their point of view. It's interesting to hear other fans perspectives on things. 🙂

This has come up on several occasions, and I just thought that I would point out that, according to his bio, or more accurately, his several bios, listed on different sites, James Marsters is between 5'10" and 5'11". That puts him just slightly ABOVE the average height for a man according to the latest studies (5'9").
I can't find a listing for his weight anywhere, but I wouldn't describe him as "thin," except maybe if he were standing next to Xander any time during the last three seasons of the show.

David Boreanaz, at 6'1" looked so much larger than Sarah partly because in Seasons 1 through 3, she often wore lower heeled shoes or athletic shoes. From Season 4 on, even when patroling, she wore boots with 2" heels almost constantly, most likely to partially compensate for Marc Blucas being about 6'4"

(Not a really big thing, but I've heard quite a few times, here and other places, how small Spike was, and he really isn't.)

I always thoight Marsters was about 5'9". When we saw him in Hallowhedon he didn't seem to have any inches on my friend who is that height. So yeah James is about average I'd say.

As for matching? I don't think it really matters. I'd say that she seems to like guys who are at least average height (sorry Jonathan) but she did once swoon over Riley's manly form lol.

For some reason, I would have thought that he would have been a bit shorter, too, but I looked at several bios, and they all seem to agree on 5'10" as his correct height. I guess he just looked smaller because all of the other male actors were so much taller. Then again. maybe on the day that he was measured, he borrowed Angel's lifts.

Something else that has always seemed a bit inconsistant about just about ANY TV show or movie that depicts someone several hundred yeasr old is that they very rarely are smaller than what we consider average today, when all of my Biology classes seemed to agree that mankind on the whole has steadily increased in size throughout the ages, and that the really tall men, like George Washington (6'2) and Abraham Lincoln (6'4") were blaringly inconsistent for their time.

According to imdb he's 5'9 and a half. 1.77m seems about right.

Yeah, I've heard that before (about his height). But everyone always seemed to be the same height as him, especially the girls. But you're right, it's probably just the shoes.

As for David, he just looked really... wide. 😀 Like, SMG looked like this tiny little nonexistant thing next to him. 😀

As for Spike being thin, he was pretty slender in S6. Not so much S4 or something, but when he was actually with Buffy he looked pretty thin.

Actually, I once read this article that said that women are more attracted to average sized guys when looking for a long term relationship, and tall guys when looking for a short term relationship.

As for matching, it doesn't REALLY matter, but some people just look better together. 🙂

Awh thank you! I really do like it here. Everyone's so nice.

That's good. 🙂 We have a history of scaring the newcomers. : scared : You seem to fit in though. It's like you're already family. 😀

And maybe that's true. I'm sure I'll always love MY first love (yes, tweens DO have first loves 😀 ), but that doesn't mean I'll want to be with him forever and ever. When people grow up they change. Buffy was only a teen when she was with Angel; She's definitely changed A LOT. And I'm sure Angel has, too. So although I'm sure they'll always feel something for each other, that statement could also fit with Spike, seeing as they pretty much grew up together.

Sidebar. I never ever ever got why Cordy and Angel ever had to happen. I'm sorry, but Cangel just didn't make sense to me. It has nothing to do with me preferring Bangel or anything, Cangel was just...weird.

Yeah, I can see how some people think that. Although I don't enjoy Cangel myself, I can also see why people love it. I myelf used to totally love Cangel. And then I learned about Spangel and Dangel. Like, I love Spuffy, but I also love 50 other ships involving Spike and Buffy. So I get that. 🙂

But as for Cangel, most people love it because it had a lot of build-up and it was a very mature relationship that turned both people into BETTER people.

In the beginning, Cordy was a shallow cheerleader who thought Angel was just some hot guy. Angel thought Cordy was just some ditzy little girl. Cordy kept trying to woo said "hot guy" while Angel kept ignoring her in Buffy's favor. Pretty soon they both started bickering with each other, always thinking they were right.

After Angel left, Cordy came over to Angel's show. They then became good friends, and soon best friends. Angel has said before that Cordy was his best friend, and she knew him more than anyone.

Up until S3 they kept up the arguing, though. Cordy was all playful and jumpy and happy, while Angel was always broody and mysterious.

In S3, Angl really fell in love with her. Cordy had always kind of loved him, but once they became friends she decided to forget it about it. But you could see in the way he told her he loved her and threw DARLA, who was pregnant with his child, that he really did love her.

When they were friends/ almost lovers they really improved each other. Angel became happier and sweeter, and Cordy became more wise and mature.

Plus, the relationship was pretty funny and sweet.
Many people think it to be the equivalent of Spuffy, although I greatly disagree. 😀 They're two people who you'd never suspect to get together, but you can't imagine them NOT getting together. 😀 And they have much more of the opposites attract thing than Bangel, IMO. Cordy and Angel were the REAL opposites attract. See, I love those "opposites attract" 'ships. (Icarly: Freddie and Sam. Harry Potter: Ron/ Hermione, Lily/ James. Mortal Instruments: Clary/ Jace. Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth/ Mr. Darcy) But the thing about opposites attracting is that they're never REALLY opposite, because people who are extremely different like that simply have a hard time loving each other. Real, strong love has friendship first. Like Spuffy and Cangel. 😀 And all of the above mentioned ships (ron/ hermione etc) WERE friends, and though they were different they also had a lot in common, like their values. 🙂

... This is very odd, considering it's been years since I've liked Cangel. 😀

You never saw the chemistry between them? I thought both pairings had a significant amount of chemisty, but I guess it's all your perspective. They do have different personalities, but like they always say, opposites attract.

As for opposites attract, see my above statement. 😀 Buffy and Angel seemed TOO different. As I've forementioned 'ships that are considered "opposites attract" are one, almost ALWAYS love/ hate, and they DO have things in common, it's just that those things aren't all that obvious at first glance. And pretty much all are good friends before they get together. Angel and Buffy, as said in Lovers Walk, weren't friends. And they will never be friends. IMO love like that doesn't last. People in strong, loving relationships always say that their partner is their best friend. IMO, romantic love is just an extension of friendship love. It's a love where you want to be both emotionally AND physically close to your partner. And it's a strong affection where you know that other person extremely well.

Haha David/Angel is a big guy, I'll give you that. I always found it kind of cute that she was so tiny compared to him. Regarding physical attraction, I bet it was hard for Buffy to resist Spike without a shirt on. He definitely bested Angel in that.

Haha. 😀 Yeah, Spike's pretty hot. Angel's a cute guy, I'll give him that, but Spike definitely has the muscles.

Thank you for the quotes from Jane Espenson though. I've never read them before and they really put things in persective for me. I suppose it's possible, and believeable, that she loved both men equally.

You really shouldn't have said that. It will now become my life mission to convert you to Spuffy. 😀 Although you are awfully fun to debate with. 🙂

I dunno. I believe that to really love and understand a relationship you need to watch the entire story of both characters. Without that, it's pretty much just which 'ship is more glam. 😀 But, if you're a fan like us who love and know everything about Buffy, then we can know which relationship was better for her on the long run.

Perhaps not the most comprehensive of tests, but I visit a general entertainment forum, and there's currently a rewatch/first watch thread going on for BtVS. I've been participating in the thread, and made the offhand comment:

Really not a fan of the Buffy/Angel angst-fest.

To which a few people agreed with me and said they preferred Spike/Buffy.

As I said... not the most comprehensive, but I'd say that the people who replied are your more 'casual viewers' as opposed to hardcore fans 😀

Someone's going to shoot me for sharing this probably but my 5 year old was watching the episode in season 3 when Angel's back and doing this shirtless tai chi. She said, "Ew! He has boobies!" She's a Spuffster apparently (though due to her age, has hardly seen any Buffy/Spike episodes since they're..um..not appropriate). Actually, to be fair, she seems extremely partial to Riley.

My 3 year old says she hates boys, and she likes Willow and Tara better than anyone else.

So although I'm sure they'll always feel something for each other, that statement could also fit with Spike, seeing as they pretty much grew up together.

Oh I believe young love exists. I was 17 when I fell in love for the first time, but I get what you mean. I know that I'm probably not going to end up with the man I first fell in love with, but I know that I'll always have feelings for him even after I've moved on with someone else. I guess thats what I'm saying with Bangel, that it is possible that she fell in love with Spike along the way but she's also never going to let her love for Angel fade. There is nothing in the world that says you can't love two people at once. I'm loving that Bangel/Spuffy thoery more and more. And yes, that statement could tie in with Spike as well.

I guess my whole problem with Cangel was that I liked that Angel was always unattainable to Cordy. Like throughout Buffy you'd see her try for Angel and he'd brush her off for Buffy, like you mentioned. I guess it was my protective nature for Bangel that made me dislike the whole relationship. xD But I suppose those two getting together at some point was pretty inevitable.

I wouldn't think of them as a mirror image of Spuffy either. It was too different. And you're definitely right on with it being a real opposites attract relationship. You pretty much couldn't get two more opposite people than Cordy and Angel.

ps: Thank you for summarizing their relationship for me. I've seen all of seasons 1-2 of Angel, but kind of skipped around on 3-5. So while I knew they developed these feelings for each other, I didn't really get a backstory. xD

Ahh I get what you're saying here. Very interesting point. Especially considering I watched "Lovers Walk" the other night so it's funny you mentioned that episode. 😀 It's true, lasting relationships do need that friendship to build off of, they can't be 100% based off romance. I feel like thats when you pretty much new when Bangel was doomed. When Buffy said "We aren't friends. We never were" I just remember thinking "Oh no! My ship is sinking." 🙁

But I was still holding onto the hope that it would work out with those two kids. 😀 But even though they realized they could never be in a real working relationship, I still believe they stayed in love with each other despite leading different lives in different places.

You really shouldn't have said that. It will now become my life mission to convert you to Spuffy. 😀 Although you are awfully fun to debate with. 🙂

Haha! Well you're pretty fun to debate with as well. 🙂

I dunno. I believe that to really love and understand a relationship you need to watch the entire story of both characters. Without that, it's pretty much just which 'ship is more glam. 😀 But, if you're a fan like us who love and know everything about Buffy, then we can know which relationship was better for her on the long run.

Very very true. I didn't really think of that. I suppose it would take more then just a few episodes between each ship to establish which one was better for Buffy.

I see what you mean. And who knows, maybe, in the end, Bangel will be the winner. But it would be a much different relationship, probably with lots of joking, fun, and fighting. And if both characters are happy in the relationship, then I'll accept it. I still won't like it though. 😀

I'm quite torn however. I don't really want Spike and Buffy to get together now. I kinda feel like their time now is over. They've both changed, and I can't really see it anymore. Nowadays I'm more interested in Spike being with Angel. Buffy can end up alone. 😀

Well, Angel was relatively unattainable to everyone. 😀 As for the brushing off, that was part of what made it so interesting: the development. And yeah, they had to get together sometime. Quite honestly it seems like everyone has been with everyone on the show. 😀

I wouldn't think of them as a mirror image of Spuffy either. It was too different. And you're definitely right on with it being a real opposites attract relationship. You pretty much couldn't get two more opposite people than Cordy and Angel.

Haha, yeah, they were pretty different. But they both were loyal, believed in doing what's right, and many other things that I can't remember but I'm sure exist...

ps: Thank you for summarizing their relationship for me. I've seen all of seasons 1-2 of Angel, but kind of skipped around on 3-5. So while I knew they developed these feelings for each other, I didn't really get a backstory. xD

Really? Oh, I'd definitely recommend watching them. I never really feel as though I understand a ship or a character until I've watched their whole story.

Angel seasons 3-4 are generally considered the worst seasons EVER, but they are still extremely telling and hold a lot of information and crazy events. Like
Angel's son and CORDY together, and Cordy having a baby from Angel's son.

Angel season 5, however, is the best season I've ever seen in my entire LIFE. 😀 Of anything, really. It's so amazing. It's lighthearted, it's sentimental, it gets dark, it's the funniest thing I've ever watched, it's interesting... It's completely perfect. So so so fabulous. Even FANTABULOUS, as annoying a word as that is. 😀 It really is the best season anyone has ever seen. I though that pretty much every Angel season other than S5 was kinda all over the place with no real plot and way too dark. But S5 had a clear plot with a good amount of plot twists, and a lovely combination of light and dark and sentimental and funny. Angel was the funniest he's ever been, Fred/ [Illyria] was beautiful and too lovable for words, Gunn was the cutest and sweetest thing ever, and Wes was so amazing. They had the greatest ships I'd ever seen, and so many ships that everyone's always wanted became canon in this season. So I'd DEFINITELY recommend it. 😀

Lol that's kind of funny... 😀 And yes, that's the truth. And if what Buffy said was true ("we'll never be friends") then they'll probably never be together. Hahahahahaha.

But seriously. 😀 It's so odd how a lot of Bangels (not you) love that quote and find it terribly romantic. As you said, I view it more as the downfall of that ship.

But I was still holding onto the hope that it would work out with those two kids. 😀 But even though they realized they could never be in a real working relationship, I still believe they stayed in love with each other despite leading different lives in different places.

Perhaps. I doubt that she was thinking of Angel all the time though. Like, throughout S6- S7, I'd bet her thoughts were elsewhere. She may always love him, and she may always have feelings for him, but I'd say it's also true for Spike. But then again, maybe she'll and up with Faith. Or Xander. Or Riley. Or Batsu, seeing as she was her first
lesbian love
. I'm still rooting for her to end up alone, however. 😀

Hahaha, this is all reminding me off in Angel S5 when Angel is like
"Ours is a forever love"
, totally acting like a jealous little kid. 😀

Haha! Well you're pretty fun to debate with as well. 🙂

Thank you, thank you. 😀 I almost don't want to win you over to the spuffy side. (Doesn't "spuffy" remind you of the pillow fight scene with the potentials in Buffy S7? 😀 It sounds like bits of fluff flying around)

Very very true. I didn't really think of that. I suppose it would take more then just a few episodes between each ship to establish which one was better for Buffy.

Yep. Which is why I'm planning on having my big Bangel rewatch this summer. I generally avoid the "bangel seasons", so I don't think I really understand Bangel as much as I'd like to. But, during my Bangel rewatch, I'll hopefully be able to come up with even MORE awesome bangel arguments. 😀
