Now that might have looked good on film, but didn't the writers have any forethought on the continuity problems it would promote?.

I've always wondered about the killing of slayers. Spike drank from the first slayer he killed in China, but only for about .02 seconds, so there's no way he drained her. I suppose he and Dru had a bit of sex play with her (her blood, anyhow) in the interim between Dru finding him and them rejoining with Angel and Darla. But he never drank from Nicki Wood, just snapped her neck. Um, hello, tasty powerful slayer blood there?? Why just leave it?

Come to think of it, the Master didn't drink much from Buffy, either. Plot, right, I get it, but still-- you'd think he'd have drained every drop. And of course the whole Dru/Kendra death. Why would a vamp just waste blood like that?

This is really a production quandry, but why oh WHY must every metal weapon they ever touch make that twanging sheathy noise? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Particularly when Willow picks up the scythe in (I forget which ep), she picks it up off the bed and it makes a noise like it was dramatically unsheathed?? It was on a comforter, for pete's sake??!!!

That's another thing I've always wondered.


Here's a question. I'm pretty sure The Master was the oldest vampire...right? But what about Kakistos in S3, who was "so ancient his hands and feet are cloven"? Surely that means he's OLDER than the Master, right? Cloven feet > really wrinkly. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I don't think we were ever meant to think that the Master was the oldest vampire ever. I think Kakistos was in fact older than the Master.

See, that's where I'm having trouble, because I can't really remember if they ever said the Master was the oldest. I THINK they did, but meh. I guess it's also because the Master didn't fully turn to dust, his bones were still intact, so that further led me to believe he was older than any others we've seen. Kakistos got completely dusted.

Never really bothered me, though... after all, not all blind men wear beards either?! I guess he prefers a dry/electric shaver and keeps running his fingertips over his face a lot. And with all that super vamp coordination - and quick healing after cuts - he could probably risk the razor, too. 😉

The master left behind bones when he was killed, "Taquitos" dusted. So surely the master is older. Its worth baring in mind that both were staked with equally massive wooden planks

Well, logically, you should be right... but with all of Angel's hair style changes over the decades (the only point in common is, they sucked... he had a Bad Hair Century XD ) there's just no way we can assume Jossverse vamps' hair (and thus, beards) don't keep growing...

Okay this is an episode specific question but in OMWF after Giles explains to Xander and Anya that people are burning up and dying because of the singing dancing thing Why in the world didn't Xander fess up. I mean isn't he all about protecting the innocent and yet he wasn't going to tell anyone that he did some magic and made it all happen. It just bugs me. And also Cangel this was a great thread idea.

Well, I always saw Xander as covering for Dawn in this situation. So, if this is the case, at that point Xander really didn't know who summoned Sweet. So, later, when Sweet says that Dawn summoned him, and she denies it, Xander speaks up to cover for her. He was willing to go with Sweet in place of her, to protect her. I mean, it makes no sense for Xander to have summoned Sweet, he had no modivation. His excuse, "I wanted a happy ending" is just weak. I think he was making it up. I think Dawn summoned Sweet by accident, by wearing the tailsman. Plus, Xander knows better then to make random wishes. Dawn doesn't really know better.

I think Xander summoned Sweet in an ambiguous way.
He's not big with the magic, so I doubt the spell was complicated, or very detailed. In all likelihood, the spell's description was something like, "Singing, dancing, and a happy ending." Perhaps something even more vague. Xander says, "I just thought there'd be singing and dancing" which supports that the spell was pretty vague. We can see how confused and disturbed by the musical Xander is, and I always took that to mean he didn't know what the spell entailed. Maybe he was busily researching so that he wouldn't have to fess up...it's pretty embarrassing for a guy to admit he summoned a demon that made you sing and dance.

I never thought he was covering for Dawn, especially since in "Selfless" he mutters about wanting a happy ending, which coincides with him summoning the demon. We get no other information that counters Xander summoning the demon. Furthermore, we see Dawn stealing the amulet on-screen...well, why wouldn't she have stolen it after summoning the demon? Why wait until she was in a room full of people to steal it?

No matter who summoned it, Dawn or Xander, someone had to keep quiet about it. And I think Xander did because he was embarrassed.

Confusion!

There's a bit of interview (or was it commentary? I can't remember) with Joss where he explained that all vampires "age" differently. When they get old enough, their physical forms evolve differently, and more into their demon side than their human side. That's why the super-old vamps (Kakistos and the Master) are seen only in their vamp form, and not human form. The oldest vamp we ever see in human form is Darla, and she's only 400 years old or so. But they all evolve differently, so the Master looks like a bat with fruit punch mouth and Kakistos has cloven hands. The way some people go bald in old and and some people's hair turn gray.

Not sure if this it stupid but it's always grated with me! In the episode innocence why does Angel just woken up and in great pain (it looks like) have time to put on all his clothes?!? before he goes outside?! and not wake up Buffy!

The way i always took this was that because Angel knew that they dont need oxygen to live, he incorrectly assumed that he couldnt resuscitate buffy. We see on countless occasions vamps being out of breath. We see them blow air in the cold. So clearly they do breathe, but they dont require it. Cigarettes would be pretty useless if they had no breath at all. So my conclusion is they have breath and breathe but dont require it for life.

The cog in the works is Spike goes unconscious from the ubervamp drowning him, true he doesnt drown but he still goes unconscious.

How did Cordy manage to afford her apartment for most of Angel, I mean its gorgeous but to me it came across that Angel didn't have much money. Hence Angel Investigations so he only had enough to pay Cordy very minimal wage.

So how did she manage to keep living in that apartment with Phantom Denise?

Thats so true, it seems like at the beginning for Angel went on a money mission in season 3 to provide for baby Connor that money was very tight. I could see him having some money but not enough to give Wesley, Cordy and eventually Gunn and Fred decent wages for them to have nice apartments especially Cordy's.

@Joamna - You have a good point there, it just looks so nice to have low rent from the hauntings.

Heres another question though, how did Cordy afford to have that wall re-built after she knocked it down and let Phantom Dennis out?

They did have the occasional paying client, at least two of whom were multi-millionaires, who were both probably quite happy to pay quite large fees for Angel's unique services, and one of whom helped them lease the hotel for basically nothing. Wesley came from what was obviously a quite wealthy family, and probably had some sort of trust fund that he would have been happy to share, pretty much the same way that Giles did with Buffy in Season 6.
