Subject of the Shanshu Prophecy

So who do you think the Prophecy is referring to? Angel or (Shudders) Spike?

I strongly believe it's Angel. Angel deserves it more than Spike by far. And when I saw "To Shanshu In LA" I thought the Shanshu was made for B/A fans, that one day Angel would become human and him and Buffy could have a normal life again

Any other opinions?

I believe Angel just for the fact that it was in the 1st season of Angel and 4th of Buffy...I don't think the writers knew they were gonna give Spike a soul yet lol but they tried to make it interesting season 5 but the show is called Angel so i'm sure it was for him since the black thorns made him sign the contract too

I think it's meant for Angel, but I love the fact that it's slightly ambiguous, that it could be Spike. Provides lots of delicious possibilities for fic writers. 🙂

Well he rejected it because he wouldn't be able to help the fight hence unhappy but if he helps win the good fight and is then rewarded with humanity thats his happiness

Angel without a doubt, if it were to go to Spike I would be majorly pissed off, and would probably give up on the series, as he is no where even close to deserving of it.

If anyone gets it, it will be Angel. To have anyone else get it is a gross injustice. I know Angel has been destiny's bitch his entire life but robbing him of Shanshu would just be too much for me.

Last time I checked, sacrificing yourself to stop the apocalypse was definitely deserving it or at least IMO. Anyway, it isn't written anywhere that it's Angel. I believe either of them could be the one and BOTH are deserving to be Shanshued.

I think having to spend 100 years in a hell dimension after being sent there by the love of your life, giving up your humanity for the same love, and all the good Angel has done qualifies him for the Shanshu.

Last time I checked, sacrificing yourself to stop the apocalypse was definitely deserving it or at least IMO. Anyway, it isn't written anywhere that it's Angel. I believe either of them could be the one and BOTH are deserving to be Shanshued.

I don't think Spike dying that once puts him in the same league of good deeds that Angel has done, Spike just isn't anywhere near worthy of the Shanshu from what we've seen.

Plus he already got a reward, he got to come back to life and annoy another group after his big sacrifice.

Maybe, maybe not but at least Spike wanted his redemption and sought it out. Angel has to be cursed in order to want to atone for his crimes and be a better person. I'm not saying Angel doesn't deserve it or that Spike does. I just don't see the reason it can't be Spike. That's just my opinion on it.

I agree. I mean seriously, are we keeping tabs on how many times they each have saved the world? No wait! Lets vote on which save looked cooler! Dusting thousands of ubervamps in like two seconds, that was pretty cool IMO. Lol. 😛

But yeah, I agree pretty much with NY. The prophecy was written before souled Spike was probably thought of, but it's not because of who is more "deserving".

Spike may have sought his soul, but it was only after he had a chip implanted in his head and couldn't hurt anything, and we see him to be some kinda Vampire anomaly where his Vampire Side and his Souled side aren't that different (crappy Vampire or crappy human, take your pick?)

Their circumstances are totally different and the Shanshu shouldn't be given out for that, it should be on the good they have done, and Angels shown allot more of that then Spike did.

For some reason I have a really 1 sided opinion on this, I would be majorly pissed off if Spike was give the Shanshu over Angel.

Seeing as how Spike's Vampire side and Human side aren't all that different he should have suffered allot more then he did, and I really don't think he should be close - to being on the short list - to being considered - for the Shanshu

I have to say I don't really agree but I'm not trying to champion Spike cause I really think Angel deserves it too. Either way it goes, I'll be a happy camper.... just as long as one of them Shanshues.

I don't see any reason why Spike couldn't Shanshu. Okay, maybe at this stage he hasn't done as much 'good' as Angel has in some people opinions, but he is a good man, with the strength to do anything he sets his mind to.

Angel signed away his shanshu didn't he? I'm pretty sure that means it's not going to happen now.

I agree 100% to say Angel is more deserving is not fair granted it is will probably go to him because he is Angel. I think I like the fact that maybe it is Spike's I mean he did go out and get a soul then soon after saved the world and sacrificed himself so in my eyes he deserves to be looked at too.
I would say Angel is less deserving in some aspects because he did not want the soul for a while he didn't want to accept it. While on the other hand Spike went for it he knew it would make him better so if you look at it that way Angel would be less deserving. It is just matter on opinion which makes an interesting debate 😉

According to the "After The Fall" story line, the Shanshu will be awarded to Angel. Unfortunately, it will be awarded to him by the Senior Partners for assisting THEM in the forthcoming apocalypse. That means that Angel and Buffy will be fighting on opposite sides in the final battle and, if the Senior Partners are still around to award it afterwards, it also means that Buffy and her team will have lost and will almost certainly be dead.

On the other hand, Wolfram and Hart well deserves their pseudonym of "Evil, Incorporated," and the entire Shanshu prophecy and all of its implications might very well be just something to confuse the issues. The Shanshu may be nothing more than the so-called prophetic visions that Lindsey, pretending to be Doyle, gave to Spike. gave Spike
