Suggestion - Halloween Event

Can we make suggestions?

I would like to suggest a Halloween event. Maybe the episode Halloween.

Is that possible? I'm an IRC noob. How would you do it? Do Australians, and Europeans do Halloween? Is it a different day for them? Would they join us North Americans just to be friendly? Would we dress up? 🙂
 
Well, SHPS was planning a pre-hallowe'en showing. On the night of the 30th into the 31st we were going to watch all the Hallowe'en episodes of Buffy together, before finishing up with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I don't know if the BBtv thing wants to go along with that or not, but I know that Fake Shemp and I won't be giving it up! We thought that finishing up on Hallowe'en was a better way to do it than on Hallowe'en night, what with people having lives and all.

Fivebyfive, I'm confused. Like I said I don't know my IRC. That's why I don't help organize these things for BB. I still get ideas though.

There are different channels, right? I know BB uses one. Are you saying there's a group of you who uses a different channel, and are planning a Halloween event? Here's an idea. You should join your event with ours, and we could all do the Halloween thing together on our channel. That way BB could promote it, and it could be this big thing. That's providing the BBTV guys go for it, of course. Maybe BBTV could even give your Rocky Horror Picture show thing some promotion. Or, I don't know, do we do non-Buffy stuff on the BB IRC channel? Maybe BBTV could let you do them both on our channel if schedules don't conflict, and get all the members in on it. Wouldn't it be even more fun for you, if your crowd is bigger?

Speaking of musicals though. Here's another idea for our Halloween thing, if we can get the organizers to go for it. What about Doctor Horrible? ::bbat::

Well, Sunnydale High Picture Show was on-site at one point, and it was basically BBtv before they got the shiny new forums. So, yeah, we have a channel on the IRC where BB members come together and chat whilst watching Buffy and films. Sounds familliar? 🙂

Basically, we were planning on having a bit of a marathon like what I said in my above post, where everyone gets their DVDs and chats about the hallowe'en eps and RHPS. That was all planned before BBtv, so I'm not sure what they want to do. SHPS will still be doing the RHPS side of it, even if BBtv don't want to though.

Sure, I remember all that FBF. Isn't that why BB decided to organize this? Because the people doing it wanted to do it from BB? In fact one of the reasons BB went out and went through the trouble of finding a way to connect with the IRC guys was in reply to the pestering...er...pardon me, suggestions on the board. J/K 😉 You were one the suggesters, right? This forum was always planned as a home base for where all the people who wanted to do this could plan their activities. In fact the forum was suggested first, then IRC was decided on as one of several possibilities to make it work. IRC coming first was just the way things worked out best. This much I know.

It sounds to me like it all got complicated though. Keanoite, and Faith are the organizers here. You should contact them and offer to help organizing the BB events from the BB IRC channel. That way everybody could come home to BB. I don't understand why you would want a second channel to do the same thing you and the others were suggesting we do here.

And Drusilla Rox, I hear you. That sort of thing might be a problem with Doctor Horrible. How many people have acces to it? Isn't it still possible to stream it from Hulu?

Sorry, that's not what I was meaning. I was saying that in the interim between talking to the mods about it and them creating BBtv, we've been doing SHPS. We got up to season 2 on Buffy episodes via IRC. We're not going to keep going with that now that BBtv is here, but we probably will go ahead with the pre-Hallowe'en party. It's up to Kean and Faith if they want to set it up as a BBtv event or not. I was simply posting about it here as a suggestion. What I was saying though, is that RHPS (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) was a big part of the night we were planning, and so if Kean and Faith don't want us to do that through BBtv, we'll just do it on #SHPS, the Sunnydale High Picture Show channel.

Aha, I see. And yeah, even if they don't want to do RHPS on the BB IRC channel, there could maybe be cross promotion from there. Sure that could work out, I bet.
 
Hulu is American, so all of us Europe people are out.

The problem with a Halloween event is all the different time zones. I expect that at least in the evening hours, many of us have plan. So, it would be wise to set something up vefore that. The only problem is, we'd have to set something up like 2 days earlier just so it's not Halloween evening in any time zone. It could get messy.

Yeah, that was our thinking on the pre-hallowe'en thing. We went with European timing, cause that's where most members are.

Good good. It's just so you don't plan to watch the Buffy episodes on Hallowe'en to find out that a lot of people watched the night before. Cause that would suck. Thanks!
No offense to Five by Five or anyone else involved in your little circle of friends, but I really like the idea of BBtv because it isn't clique-y like your group is, I don't have to be on Buffy Boards all the time and I don't have to be friends with anyone to still enjoy it.

SHPS was never cliquey. Anyone could join at any time. It's just that we didn't advertise on the boards because we were waiting to see what the mods wanted to do with the idea. Sorry if you felt that way. :(

SHPS was never a clique. It was and if it still exists at the time of writing this open to all. The fact that the same people turned up each week to watch is coincidental.
OK wait, I think I've got a possible solution for the multiple time zones, and the Doctor Horrible thing.

Actually the suggestion has already been made by Drusilla Rox. If you do a five or six episode event, you can intersect with all time Zones for at least one of them by staggering an hour intemission between. That would mean each time zone could get at least one prime time hour, and could hang around for others if they wanted.

If you do it that way, then you could schedule the Doctor Horrible event for the hour that's most compatible with North America. That way they could use Hulu if they don't already have the episode stored. Maybe you could do Once More With Feeling for the Europeans. That way both sides of the world get a musical. Edit Oh rats...then there's Australia... Do you guys sing down there? 🙂😉 (J/K think of a solution, you down under folk)

I have no problem with this being screened through BBTv...I think it would be fun actually🙂 I've never seen it so it would an excuse to watch it.

So FbF, run it by me one more time what you had planned for Halloween and we will try and make it owrk for everyone🙂

I think this Halloween event would be very nice coordinated on BB's own IRC channel so that all members can be included. I feel that a lot of members would be interested in it. I know I would! 🙂
