I live in an old Victorian House, well actually its a Mansion converted into separate flats, and I have to tell you it is haunted.

I mean seriously haunted BUT by ghosts that are quite pleasant, though a touch mischievious.

I was wondering what you guys believed in.

Do you think Ghosts exist?
What about Faeries, ghouls and gobblins?

Any other beings that you believe either exist or at least did.

Was/is there really a Loch Ness Monster?
Is that hairy man that works at my petrol station actually a Yeti?

What do you think?

I don't DISbelieve in these things, but I've never experienced any of them. The one time I thought I sensed a presence or whatever, it turned out to be night terrors. But I have spoken to reliable, down-to-earth people who claim to have had experiences with the supernatural, so I don't discount the possibility that they exist offhand.

I have an unfair advantage when it comes to believing in something after the end as we know it by science.

I grew up with a ghost nanny. The house I lived in as a child was an old country place a couple of hundred years old. During the remodel my Dad found a crucifix in the north wall of the living room, my Mom still has it hanging from the rear view mirror of their car.

The whole time my parents lived at the house they could hang nothing on that wall that would stay for very long except a few things whose collected theme makes the story even stranger. Glass things always were short lived. I remember one time seeing a rod iron candelabras moving out parrellell to the wall, then falling. I remember it very vividly to this day, not so much a fall as a move and a drop....but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Before I could remember anything at all and was just a baby; ever time my father worked an overnight at the steel mill my Mom would here footsteps going back and forth between my nursery and my sisters room. Occasionally through out the old section of the house..never the new rooms. They sounded to hear my grandfather, sister, aunt and cousin, repeat it... like healed shoes on a wooden floor.

This never happened when my Dad was home and would go away shortly after my grandpa arrived (though he did hear it also). Up until relatives besides my sister and mom commented on it, My dad thought Mom and Sis were nuts. (My Dad is not a big believer in what he can't see other than God, but eventually even he believed)

My Grandpa put my Mom in touch with a priest who odd as it sounds and contrary to the faith...put my Mom in contact with a fortune teller.

This teller is a story onto herself, but I'll keep sticking to the footsteps for now. She told my mom the footsteps meant her no harm. it was a spirit of a past women of the house helping my mom watch over the kids when the man of the house was gone. If we did not want it around all we had to do was say 'We believe in God the father and rely on him for protection, your doing more harm then good here and we wish you to stop.'

Upon doing that, the footsteps did stop, but 'she' never left I think, just got real quiet and ninja like. Other than not liking anything non-religious hanging on the wall of the north living room and always feeling like you were being watched and on occasion hearing a womens voice waking me when i was alone- which could have been like a mental alarm clock, not a spook- we never heard anything else. ( except for the eventual predictable crashes when we would hang things on the wall that were not religios themed. My parents had a two picture of two old people praying over bread, she left that alone.)

Along time ago, back in the days funeral visitations were held at homes where you could view the body, an old lady named Gladis who my parents bought the old farm from, said the living room was used for a wake for her relative (forget the exact relation) and the body was kept there for a few days, while family gathered. I'm not sure how that would work with the smell and all, maybe good old Gladis was senile? Still, Kind of strange.

Oh about the fortune teller....My mom and dad call me their miracle baby, they were told that the likely would have trouble having children if they could have them at all. They adopted my sister after being her foster parents and shortly after that I happened.

When my mom and aunt went to the fortune teller she told my mom among other things, that she saw her surrounded by children, to which my Mom replied not likely. The fortune teller continued though. She said no, your surrounded by children, many of them. then she looks at my aunt and says...thats when you will meet your husband.

That spring my parents hosted an Easter Egg hunt for their snowmobile club at the farm, a lot of kids. It's also where my aunt met my uncle.

She called some other stuff too, though vague. She told my mom that on the northeast corner of your home there is a body of water which turned out to be true, there is a pond there.) and somewhere near or in the water is something of great worth. (never found that other than the sand being a weird white color under the mud, oh and I use to love to play with the clay I found near it as a kid.) 🙂

I'm sceptical - but after some experiences this summer, I'm a little more open to the supernatural.

I went to the Isle of Wight in August this year, and had a couple of ghostly experiences.

The first was at Carisbrooke Castle - the castle where King Charles I was held prisoner in 1648. We were looking around the museum part, and were in King Charles bedroom. A friend told us to put our hands into the top of the fireplace, and wait. It was so weird, my arm went all tingly, numb and cold and there was a weird presence. I was with a group of people and we all felt the same thing, very weird.

The second ghostly experience was in the village of Shanklin on the IoW - we went on a 'ghost walk' through the village, and the leader guy told us a story about the HMS Eurydice, which sunk just off the coast in 1878 - and at times people still claim to see the ship sailing across Whitecliff Bay and then disappearing just before it reaches Culver Cliff. Weird thing is, the day before, my sister and I had been down on Whitecliff Bay, and seen a tall ship sailing across the bay, and then a couple of moments later it was gone. Kinda freaked us out 😀

I've never had any other ghostly encounters, but the IoW is said to be one of the most haunted places in the UK, so... who knows!

I think people leave imprints on the world not really ghosts but energy of their life. Like in my house my mother and granparents lived there before they died I can still feel them around and sometimes I find things thats remind me of them like a photograph or an old letter and it makes me think maybe I was meant to find it.

I still go down stairs and think my mother is sitting on the couch and my grandmother is on the chair and my great uncle is in the small room.

I have been in the Edinburgh Ghost tours and I was a member of the Ghost Club for a while, somethings are in the mind but others cannot be explained. I do however believe people leave print/trail of there life.

Have you read the rest of this thread!!!!
I have had a great deal of supernatural (and supranatural) events my whole life, but I wont go into them publicly. But I wanted to chime in with something, so, I can say that I have seen a UFO before! Honestly. No guff. Thats still supernatural.

Supranatural...hehe, I love The Pick of Destiny!
Because I know something is out there by proof of experience rather than faith alone or just a feeling?

Or did I mis speak? (certainly meant no offense.)

I just don't see it as an unfair advantage, maybe an advantage or at best a personal experience that gives you inside knowledge.

Something I have wanted to ask and please don't be offended but is English your first language?

Its just you write as though you learned English after you have spoken another fluently.

Do UFO's count as Supernatural?

I don't know personally.

I am not trying to dimiss them as Alien beings because I have seen one myself, on Dartmoor in England and it scared the bejesus out of me. I firmly believe that in an infinite universethe probablities of life only existing on one planet is remote - no matter how extraordinary and implausible life on this planet truly is...I recommend you watch a UK TV show called Catastrophe showing how many crazy and impossible things have had to happen to help life evolve here on earth.

No offence friend, I American...just a product of dyslexia, an underfunded country school and more so than not, my own lazyness.
I see, inside knowledge is not necessarily unfair. Or is it? Can you have an advantage and still have equity? I just feel a skeptic deserves my experience too.

Just seemed the wrong turn of phrase

Couple of things.

1) I have a friend who used to do those Ghost Tours, she moved to London last year. She did it for 4 weeks but left because she was frightened because of an experience in a room with the sound of running water when she shouldn't have heard it.
Hard to explain really.

2) Well we're all chock full of energy and one thing we ALL know is that energy doesn't disappear it transfers, who is to say what happens to the energy, what is stored in the energy and where it goes.

That energy is part of my Soul belief actually.

Do UFO's count as Supernatural?
Yes, because it is unidentified. Fact of the matter is (and here goes another debate for you and I) is there is no such thing as "supernatural" because everything here is bound by our nature: gravity, physics, et al.

There are things that happen which maybe cannot be explained (though I have only come across one or two such things) but that doesn't make them supernatural- only the natural that we have not yet figured out.

^^^^Mine as well. I buy into God making us in the image of himself refering to our souls, that which endures...not our boddies.

I feel like God is sentient energy.

See, I don't know if I agree with you saying yes.

Supernatural to me is something that we, at present, cannot explain through science.
Ghosts would fall into that.
UFO's by Alien beings, though truly wonderful could still be explained pretty easily.

I agree that everything has a rational explanation and given time we will be able to take the supernatural away from everything though we just need to get to a stage in our development, our evolution, where we understand what these things are.

how exactly wouldyou easily explain them? The monkey brain argument, that we are so advanced to monkeys? Aren't we somewhat monkeys o the devine? proof is proof and to the scientific minded, aliens and angels alike needto be disproved by evidence.

That all it is.. there is nothing ooogly boogly about it. Expect for ONE thing. There was one and only one oogly boogly time, and that is one of the ones I cant explain. Thats the one moment that keeps hope alive for me.. but I have spent decades looking for oogly boogly that I cant explain and they are few and far between.

EDIT: and I have been to a good ole fashion Pentecostal exorcism too lol

So then, does that mean UFO's are Supernatural or not?

While the technology might be advanced IF ET: The Eternal Twat landed on your doorstep tomorrow and said 'Look, Sco, after I've upped the phone bill making a call home, fancy a shufty in my ship'? it would still be pretty easily explainable, even by our limited standards BUT if Caspar stopped by for a chin wag (don't forget he's friendly) with our current scientifical state we would be hard pressed to truly say 'Oh, wow, he's nothing more than a photographic displacement beam currently trapped in this time space thanks to the magnetic disturbance last nights thunderstorm caused'.

have you not watched Indy 4? Who's to say casper isn't driving the ship?
In the sense that it is unexplained, yeah. A UFO is supernatural. I have no idea WHAT it was I saw.. could have been a helicopter or could have been a flying saucer, could have been some interdimensional being.. But once you actually identify a UFO it then becomes only an FO. It is the U that makes it supernatural.

I still don't think I would say Supernatural...but I've given my argument you've given yours its an agree to disagree

Ed is crazy, for every person who can explain a UFO someone can explain the spirit world, who's to say if either are correct. Whats that mean when it can't be explained and defies natural law...oh yeah "supernatural" DUH.
Relic agrees: how exactly wouldyou easily explain them? The monkey brain argument, that we are so advanced to monkeys? Aren't we somewhat monkeys o the devine? proof is proof and to the scientific minded, aliens and angels alike needto be disproved by evidence.

What couldn't be proven.

I'm not saying that right now we could say 'yes they exist' I am saying if we had conclusive proof they existed we could explain them.

Evolution Theory would very strongly explain them - unless they came and told us that its wrong and Creationism is the correct one!!!
And technologically we could explain it too. While we don't have the ability to travel to other worlds doesn't mean we can't understand the science behind or that its impossible.

However, is a Ghost presented itself tomorrow, how would we measure it, how would we define it?

There's no question in my mind that ghosts are real. I've had some extremely creepy experiences.

This a 'funny' attempt - not working

In my mind too.

I have seen 3, my parents also believe they have seen 2 including one that saved the life of my entire immediate family - whether intentional or not - and my house has at least one Ghost now.
