Hubs watched most of this without me, but I saw the end result.

This sets up Mitch to be in the final 3 if he plays his cards right. If Kyle and Kamilla can keep together, either of them can win. I kind of like the idea of a secret alliance getting to the end and then it's open court for the jury to decide who deserves it more.

I had to be at work for an awards night, so I missed the first hour. So I'm not sure how Mitch was voted out. But I guess the guy is too likable?

I did see the end of the episode. Firemaking and final tribal.

Yet again we see Joe swoop in to rescue Eva, calming her in a bear hug and coaching her on making fire before the final 4 tribal. I want to point out (again) I hate this schtick at final 4, and I would just prefer a vote out. It's almost never compelling. Ultimately one person is always able to make fire way before the other person. There are so many factors that could also play out (such as wind) that make it difficult to make the fire. I think there have been exactly one season that it's been head-to-head.

I pray we aren't hoodwinked in survivor 50 into believing that the public actually likes fire and wants it for the final 4 (cause that was a public vote).
Ultimately, I do think the winner played the best game. The winner was super strategic, and made their way to the end by their own accord. They also outplayed numerous jury members.

Speaking of the jury... I hate David. He is the epitome of "pick me". They should have voted him out pre-jury.

I've managed to avoid spoilers all day, so I hope its worth it!

I really hope Joe doesnt win this. I like him less and less the more I see of him. Of course Eva gets the advantage, again. I guess this shows us what a game without advantages would be since shes used none of them. I like our AU advantages that get used.

Yeah I'm bored of the keylock and puzzles at the end, especially muddy. I didnt know who won until after it happened. But happy Kamilla is easy safe and hope Mitch votes with her... Noooo dont take Eva again! Has she been on every single reward now? Has that ever happened before?? I guess she doesnt have a whole lot of good company choices, I would choose the only other chick too.

Yes. vote out Joe. Dont vote out Mitch, use mitch to vote out joe dumbasses. What was the point of the Shahim vote if not to use Mitch in the next vote? I just do not get it!! Felt like kicking a dead horse by doing that vote.

Kamilla has been the most entertaining for the season, but I think Kyle has probably played a better game, so Im glad he won immunity. And of course I would prefer him to win over all too.

This ep seems really really long. Kamilla is a champ.

Hmm watching this jury package before final tribal makes me think Kyle has hidden his skills too much. Jury seems like they have decided. Kyle might be too late to sway them.

Good tribal, Kyle spoke the best. Eva was cocky as expected. Joe was just there. "26 days"spunds even lamer at the end Jeff.

WOOOOT! Yay! Im happy Kyle won. Very split Jury, but glad he got there in the end. Phew!

I think you are right. Mitch must have a great social game, and does seem super likeable. Thats the only reason to not have him at finale 3. Perhaps the vibe on the beach did make Eva and Joe seem like a safer bet than it did on screen.

Jeff pulled them out of the urn very Hunger Games style.
Happy to see Jonathon and Emily again!
Not so happy with Charlie and Q...
I thought Kyle and Kamilla played a great game but thats an instant target on them.
Cherie is getting her money as a reality star cos shes been on everything lately!

Im assuming it is Old era vs new? Love the old era but too many from the new if its not this format.

I finally watched the final tribals, though I haven't yet watched the reunion. I'll just post my notes I was writing as I watched along, and hope that won't bore anyone who's still reading!

Advantage to Eva again. She doesn't seem to realize that it's not a good sign to have never used your advantages. It means no one considers you a threat. I'm getting tired of Eva's arrogance about winning advantages and expectations that other players will comfort and look after her. At some point, it seems manipulative.

Kamilla killed that challenge, coming from behind to win! I roll my eyes a bit at the "positive-thinking" philosophy, but if it works for her, great. I can't believe she took Eva along, but I guess she was the best option between Joe and her. Kamilla wouldn't take Kyle, and probably didn't want to be alone with Mitch trying to strategize.

I can't believe they passed up voting out Joe again! And, would old Civa still be voting as a group at this point, as Kamilla thinks?

I just noticed Kyle's scar on his forehead. Did that happen on Survivor? A souvenir, I guess!

I definitely thought Kyle should take Eva and make Joe and Kamilla make fire. I thought Eva was the least likely to get votes, but I found I was wrong. I am glad that the jury only gave Joe one vote. He's extremely likeable, but had zero strategy. In this buddy season, I wasn't sure if that would matter, and I'm relieved that it did.

Eva has a tantrum, and of course, Joe runs to her rescue. And the thing is, Eva was never going to win, whether she made fire or not! I felt very sure of this for several episodes.

Wow, David actually owns a shirt with sleeves! That was the biggest jury shocker. And here's Eva, gloating again about how great she is at fire, and interrupting Kyle's talking time to point out that she has a fabulous career. 🙄 Mitch clearly wanted Kamilla to win. Me too! I've been rooting for her for a while. But if she couldn't win, I'm happy Kyle did.

I'm amazed Eva got more votes than Joe. She had her own challenges, I know, but previously there hasn't been much sympathy in Survivor juries for issues players bring with them, like an artificial leg or a need for the million dollars. I've been hard on Eva in these notes, but I do think she did pretty well, considering her autism. However, I also think she was the all-time champion of playing the sympathy card. She even got Jeff to cry!

And that's another season in the bag. I forgot there still has to be a 49 before there can be 50! I agree with @Cohen that I would not like to have a fire-making challenge at the end.

Mitch was heartbreaking at the end. He was such a nice guy, it's just that no one chose him for a buddy in a buddy game (after his one ally left early). Everyone was saying that a lot of people at the end were nice, and yet they didn't include Mitch in their alliance, so that's a count against them.

Yes! Totally agree, it all seemed manipulative to me. She doesnt seem to realise how good she has it that people were willing to come to her aid and help her regulate. Thats not how it is in the real world. I am glad that the game wasnt handed to her in the end as well. Previous season villians would have triggered her to get her out of the game. New Era coddled her the whole way to the end. Neither is good.

I wondered how Joe was feeling, when he thought he was supporting a college kid, and finds out at the end oh actually shes been downplaying her abilities the whole game. I would feel used. Im happy we will see him play again, and he will be going in as barely a threat having had a lousy final tribal.

Wow, David actually owns a shirt with sleeves!
Hahahah that made me laugh out loud!

That's a great point about Joe. He was all about honor, and at the end, found out his closest ally lied to him.
There are some bad rumors circling round the internet about AU. Bad rumours... go away bad rumors. Do not be true!

Nooooooo!!!!!

I will riot from the States! The reason why Australian Survivor works is because JLP is such an enigmatic host. He truly understands his place in the game. He doesn’t try to self-produce stories. He is involved and engaged, and knows how to navigate compelling tribals.

Bringing in a former contestant/winner as host, no matter who it may be, would undermine the role of the host. They would try to relate new tribes to their own experiences as a contestant, making tribals about them instead of the contestants. It wouldn’t work.

If producers want more viewership and engagement, they should bargain for international distribution. Australian Survivor has become the superior international version, and a large part of that is because of JLP. US viewers would flock to Australian Survivor and purchase Paramount+ exclusively to watch the backlog of seasons.

What an abysmal way to end June!

Agreed! At this point, aiming internationally is really the way to go.

Channel 10 does not look good. Many shows have been cancelled, and this reeks of cost cutting. I won't be surprised now if the channel ceases to exist soon. If it does go under, hopefully one of the other channels will see the mass appeal of Australian Survivor and pick it up.

The only good that can come of this is that JLP now is free to take over Survivor US. He can even do an American accent 😆 I know, not gona happen. A girl can dream.

While Genat is reportedly charismatic and popular with casual viewers, some critics feel he lacks the gravitas and gravely voiceover vibes that made JLP a staple of Aussie reality TV.
Spot on.

I am a big David fan, and happy to see him on my tv in any capacity, but he is not JLP and it would be hard for him to live up to the level JLP was on.

I am very sad the rumors are true 🙁 But I love the show and will keep watching until the bitter end regardless. Just like Masterchef haha (this season of Masterchef is one of the worst I have seen, I think they have cut their editing budget or something, its different and not in a good way).

Ten are being dumb with these big shake ups. The ship is sinking. Stop rocking it, it'll sink faster!

VH1 had Tyra replaced with Rita Ora for a season, realized that was an abysmal mistake, and had Tyra back on Americas Next Top Model the next year, but it was too late to save the show, and it never returned after cycle 24. Not even for a “final” cycle 25 which would have been an easily promoted season.

Ten should save themselves a step, brand with international Paramount+ to save costs, and keep JLP.

The 13th season of the Australian Survivorfranchise includes players from Down Under — including David Genat, who won Australia's all-star season as well as recently took home $5 million on Deal or No Deal Island — as well as versions of Survivor from around the globe.

Seems like Ten must already be laying the groundwork for a David takeover, as he was highlighted in this people article as participating as a contestant in Australia v World, despite many other prominent Australian players being featured on this season.

The Instagram accounts for Ten and Australian Survivor also released a statement.
"JLP has brought a unique blend of authority, intelligence and empathy to his role as host of Australian Survivor over the last 10 years," the joint post read. "Acting as referee and managing the intense pressure of the game while also acknowledging the human drama unfolding, JLP has been a compelling and memorable figure in the world of Survivor."
It reads kind of shallow for someone who has been the face of the franchise in Australia for a decade. I wonder if JLP asked for a raise, knowing his worth, and Ten said “no advantage for you, we can pay former contestants less”. This is so disappointing.
For Ten, it may actually work for promotion knowing this is the last season we will see JLP in. So it gets more fans who love him to watch. But also… you already had gold with the iconic Australian players vs the iconic international players… so why do you need more promotion?

Do you all get US Big Brother? This season is only 2 episodes in and is already epic! The live feeds are popping off and I'm obsessively scrolling BB twitter!

I'm watching the episodes now but not the live feed. This is really different to AU, has it always been like this? Much more fun! Feels like a real game show haha. The first group that went in seemed really wholesome. AU is far more skanky lol I dont trust the dude with the mustache.

The FIRST season of US BB was more like international editions. But it tanked, so they redid it to be more like survivor. I find it more exciting!

Rachel was on USBB 12 and won 13! This is her first season in 14 years! She’s an icon! She was panned by fans when she was on but I always LOVED her.

I saw some of the showmance bits, which absolutely would have had me hooked it I was watching back then.
I guess its lucky zay left because otherwise Rachel would be in trouble! The contestants are in full play straight away and fighting for their alliances, full on.
I really enjoyed the puzzle role play type challenges in this one, seems more gameshow and its fun to watch. Im probably gona have nightmares about the creepy dude in the mask sneaking all over the house lol. Hopefully I can keep up!

We are less than a month away from AU v The World!!! I cannot wait!!!!!
Me either! The JLP news put a bit of a damper on it, but we'll just have to love his swansong all the more.

Was this filmed before or after Deal or No Deal Island? I cant see David going too far in this, especially if it was after. Hes such a huge threat in his prime, on par with Parvarti. Cant wait to see them all play again! A bit sad it will be short, but maybe I can make it special with Chinese food feasts for the premier and finale.
