Bidet of Evil
The beach (or maybe just the local pool, if you're landlocked) = summer fun.
Beachwear, however, is not so fun. It sends shivers of fear and shame down even the most well-sculpted backs. Thin ladies worry about a lack of curves. Curvy ladies worry about an excess of curves. Men worry about beer bellies or, alternatively, scrawniness. Pale folks worry about blinding their fellow beach goers, not to mention turning as red as Sebastian the crab. Tan people worry about tan lines. The point here is that very few people think they look good in a suit.
So I decided to open a thread asking what your suit looks like, why you chose it, and whether or not it will stop you from going out onto the beach this year.
I'll start: My suit is a bright blue bikini. I have two sets of bottoms, both of them bikini briefs. One fits sorta like underwear, while the other ties at the hip. I usually switch these out depending on how confident I feel about my hips that day. The top has an underwire and fits like a push-up bra top. Sometimes, I wear a little white skirt over the bottom of my suit (if I'm not full-on swimming, for instance). Basically, my suit is like a bright blue pair of underwear. lol. I love it, though, because it feels as comfortable as underwear, too, and makes me feel more confident and free than wearing something that's cut high on the thighs or stretches across my midsection or something. I usually feel really nervous about putting it on and going out in public but, whenever I do, I look in the mirror and I look at the other women around me and I think, "Hey... I look kinda pretty in this!"
That said, I'm crazy pale and burn like a freak, so suit or no suit, I tend to slather on the sunscreen and cover up as much as possible whenever I'm on the beach. I prefer swimming at night. Then, my milky skin is all sexy and glowy and alluring, and hey -- bonus -- no sunburn blisters!
