Teen Aged Giles

I think Giles will stay a child at least till the end of this season. Next season he'll be promoted to the shippy age. So far, I like his scenes, but I think it's because I like the very idea of him being back. Hopefully he'll get an interesting arc.

i'm really happy to have giles back, and i'm digging season 10 much more than season 9. my only real question is, at what point will giles begin to show his rebellious punk nature, as seen in bandcancdy, when teenage giles was mackin on joyce? we've seen plenty of straight-laced british stereotype giles--that's grown-up giles. i want more of the younger, dangerous ripper.

either way, good to have him back, siked to see where this goes.

Something to consider among all of the other problems that Giles, in his new body, faces is simply what is his legal status? When Buffy died, obviously, her death was never made public. The Buffybot was used as a substitute so that, as far as the rest of the world was concerned, she had never died. Was Giles' death covered up in such a way? Obviously not, since there was the will reading where Faith inherited his home in England and Buffy received the now infamous book. That has to mean that, legally, Rupert Giles is dead. Where does that put the resurrected teenager? He has to have a legal identity, including birth certificate and passport in order to come to the United States from England. While here, he has to have a legal guardian, and is required to attend a certified school, though that could be gotten around with "home schooling," if such is legal in California. As far as making any claims on any property that he, in his former life owned, he has no case, since it was all disposed of with the reading of his will. All of this leads us to one simple question.

Which one of the gang is going to be appointed Giles' legal guardian?

Guys, why do you expect Giles to suddenly go all Ripper? He's still a guy in his 50s with all of his memories, experiences and whatnot. Hormones cannot erase that.

@white avenger

Man, I think that you've put more thought into all of this than the writers 😀

I don't know, I mean, on one hand Giles clearly is alive and he can prove it through a DNA test or whatever and get his stuff back. On the other hand he clearly was dead. Jesus, being a lawyer in the Buffyverse is like the worst job ever!

Season 10 is actually dealing with this in a nice little sub plot - Giles is like a legal test case: now that magic is public knowledge, the legal system needs to catch up and Giles is trying to work through proving that he is still the same person.
