Teen Pregnancy and Abortion

Perhaps we should allow all teenage pregnancies, and instead have a rule for culling anyone, oh say, over 35, that way we would constantly have a steady stream of employment and workers, without having to worry about those pesky old people who just want to scrounge off the state (message tone: irony. OAp culling rule:simply as arbitrary as mandatory abortion in the under 22s. result: brave New World-esque stupidity 😀 )

Your idea sounds more like Logan's Run than Brave New World, but I get your point! Well said. That age demographic is going to be a major problem in the near future.

This issue is complex and tangled, and I'm not exactly sure where I stand, either (and I've had lots more years to ponder, too). A woman should have the choice. It shouldn't be used for birth control. Adoption should be promoted strongly, and made more attractive. That being said, you really can't regulate abortion to prevent it from being used for birth control without possibly restricting access to people who need it. It's very tangled, and I have no answers. And after reviewing WatcherWes's posts, I think he had his tongue firmly in his cheek...but I missed his first unedited post...oh well, damned work...keeps me away from my leisure activities!!😉

or maybe rather than increasing the population further, we allow higher immigration rates from places like India and China. Adds to the workforce without increasing the overall population.

Someone thought of that one a few hundred years ago. I believe it was called slavery 🙄

Killerdwarf: I studied both Brave new World and 1984 for my A level English Lit, and wrote an essay on the political ideologies of the two worlds, and how they were closer than you'd think. Only problem was, I only read the first half of each book, and never read any further....bad Willow! So you're probably right, and I'm probably wrong...as usual there then!!

i think this is a harsh topic
i think it's not good that teens are having sex get younger and younger....my cousin sabs is 15 and is like sleeping with every boy who digs her....i think that's horrible

to abortion...i think no-one can say abortion is a good or bad thing. You never know in which situation in life you'll be and why you'll do some things...but sometimes you are just forced to do things you thought you never gonna do

if i got pregnant i wouldn't keep the baby... at least at the moment. but I'm always use condoms and stuff like that
but one of my friends got pregnant when she was 15 although they used a condom!! they still don't know why this could happen.....maybe bad quality
so it's not always that you're irresponsible when you get pregnant without wanting to.
