I couldn't find a topic about this but...

How do you fill that void, after a relationship ends, and its all painful...and you can't sleep. But you're smart enough not to turn to drugs or alcohol...but you find yourself not being able to sleep, eat, do anything really, and you stay at home and avoid friends?

: erm :

You wanna know how you fill the void?
You go out.
You do things, you meet people.
IF you are intelligent enough to not turn to drugs and/or Alcohol then you must be intelligent enough to realise sitting in your home crying and moping is not the correct way to go.

I have no time for people who sit around feeing sorry for themselves when a relationship ends.

Yup, he's right on here. Take a night course in something you always wanted to do, say, learn to play the guitar or something like that. Go to the library. Volunteer to help out with some service club in your area. Most of all, don't let the ex-whatever see that you're struggling. Whether you were the dumper or the dumpee, you gotta get out there and have a life! TV and Doritos does NOT constitute a life as we know it. So go do something you always wanted, but never did. You'll have fun, and maybe you'll meet the next someone...good luck!

voids.. now thats a deep subject. how to fill them? i guess people have to fill them in their own ways. me? music. music gets me though.. especially some of my top bands/artists. yeah i know. and whoever needs drugs and alcholol.. needs help. im totally against drugs Xl.... i think drugs and alcholol just makes a bigger void. you keep at it and it gets to a stage where its too big to repair. and alister. its okay to cry...

I agree with BOD and KD. My friend got majorly dumped in July and I'm so proud of her, because instead of staying in a moping she moved out of their house, got her own house, got a job in a bar to help with her finances and made a whole new group of friends through working there. She is now VERY happy and it's because she had the guts to get out there and not let him knock her confidence.

You need to go out there and make sure that you continue with your life!

There goes my advice. See it? Just jumped right out the window.

What happens is this. You're miserable. You do nothing. ... ...

Eventually your misery gets replaced with boredom.

You start doing things again.

This is what a complete moron does. In the meantime they listen stupid advice like 'time is a healer' and all that other crap.

What you do is get a jump on all that crap. Doing nothing doesn't stop you being unhappy. It just stops you being.

Yes yes, I'm just repeating what the johlitos above me said, but it sounds so much cooler when I say it.

I think this'll be the 678475658th rep I giv you where I say I LOVE YOU. But it's true.
I agree Voids suck... and people are different some just cant be around people during them. Like me after i broke up with my ex fiance it took me about a month to be around female friends I tried and i tried so hard... but I just it made it all worse. Soon i could be around my girl friends jsut never around my guy friends, i could barely even stand to talk to guys on the phone... it took me probley a good 6 - 8 months before i didn't feel completely horrible talking to guys.... I mean dont get me wrong I did talk to them throughout the time here and there but maybe for 10 minutes once a week if that. Luckily they all understood it somewhat and were there for me.

Best way for me to fill the void... half the time is just to take some time to myself normally it only takes maybe 2 weeks that 6-8 months thing only happened once.. but normally i just kinda hide away for 2 weeks not really getting into conversations with people much then after that little vaca i'm pretty much good enough to start looking for a new catch lol

The above posts exhibit some sound advice.

We've all been where you are, little lady. You can't sleep, you feel like hammered caca, you go through an entire range of emotions within a 5-minute time span. You don't know how in the bloody hell you're supposed to survive the first few days, weeks, or whatever the case may be.

The number one rule here, mogwaid....nay....the number one breakup COMMANDMENT is this: Take care of yourself.

Get some sleep. Lack of Z's can quickly become a downward spiral you'll soon have trouble getting yourself out of. Don't do without your Z's!

Also, make sure you keep your appetite. Breakup stress depletes the body of strength and nutrients, believe me. So be sure to remember to eat....keep those vitamin intakes regular.

Am I sounding a bit like Mary Poppins? Yes....yes I am, but screw that, I'm giving ya pearls here. 😛

Also, be sure you get extra doses of TLC. Let your best and trusted peeps know that you're hurting. Everybody understands the breakup thing, and the love will be there for ya. Never, never slog through something like this on your own.
But you must reach out. Yes YOU have to. People can't help you if they don't know you need it.
You may feel embarrassed at going to your friends, perhaps even shedding a few tears...but it's ok, you'll feel so much better. As I said, the love will be there for ya. And again I stress, never go through it alone.

Do these things, keep yourself healthy and strong, and move on with your life as you always have. Breaking up hurts, but it isn't the end of all things.

*breaks into song*

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down......[[POW!!!!]]

*gets knocked unconscious by KD*

When me and my ex broke up I went out that night with one of my best friends. He took me out and bought me dinner and we had fun. Then a couple days later I met my fiance. So it all worked out. I didnt spend more than an hour sitting in by myself crying. Friends always help i in these situations.

Well when my girlfriend and I broke up...I just didn't let myself stay very upset. But I was still in love with her for a long time after that...as in a year. But over it now. Woot!

Know all about the void, but, so far, there's no other way for me to fill it than to let the time pass...
