That Strange Land Lodged Between Canada and Mexico

is celebrating it's birthday today. This is the one day of the year where Americans must pretend to be patriotic and all that stuff so they can enjoy some beer and fireworks. So, Americans, take a hint from our hillbilly friends and wave your flags.

I have friends and family and MANY of us do, fighting for our country. I respect this country and what it stands for. People who make fun of it are ridiculous.

Harm disagrees: I'm not on a high horse so don't go telling me to get off one. I don't care how many of your family members are vets. I found it offensive.

Let's take a step back here. You have friends and family fighting for our country? Really? Is there a border skirmish somewhere that I don't know about? (Keep in mind that I'm from Texas, the ONE state that shares more border with another country than ANY other, 2.5 times that of Montana's border with Canada, and double the distance of all other Mexican border states combined.)

You are entirely entitled to your opinion, Harm. So is Revolver....that was the point of my post. I am SO glad that you respect this country and what it stands for, lots of people don't, some of our military members included. Revolver's post in NO way denigrated either the country OR what it stands for. Far from it, he brought ANOTHER viewpoint to light, which you missed entirely, that there's a LOT of false patriotism out there. Good for you that you, your family and friends aren't counted among those people.
