The 11th hour (Doctor Who) premiered 7 years ago today

Must say I was surprised at just how good a companion Karen turned out to be.....but then again she is from Inverness 😉

Will give the new series a chance, but it's going to have to be a big improvement on the last one to keep me watching!

I loved hot kissagram Amy Pond. Lol. I'm not a fan of the 11th Doctor, I like Matt Smith, but his 3 series are just not my favorite. I think Amy is the best companion but I don't like Rory. It doesn't feel like it's already been 7 years though. I need to do a Doctor Who (new who) rewatch.

I don't even know amen the new series comes out. I thought it already started. Lol. I don't really life the darker direction the show has gone since Moffat took over. But I do like Capaldi's doctor.

I remember when I used to look forward to it...wouldn't miss it for the world. That changed afrer Matt left. 🙁

I loved them! They were just great 🙂 I love Capaldi and Clara as well. I think the last season was the best season of Doctor Who so far. To continue with my unpopular opinions....Tennant and Rose were so very overrated. They were good but nothing like Clara and Capaldi!

I liked that the 11TH Doctor travelled with a engaged/married couple (Rory and Amy)- that was new.

But thinking about it I think my favourite companion so far has been Donna.

Tennant and Rose were so very overrated.

Agreed. I disliked them together a lot actually. Rose was better with Eccleston

9 and Rose were great...not the romance though!

Same here. I was actually on the verge of giving up the whole show altogether because of how Clara was suddenly treated as the main character whilst the Doctor became a mere supporting role. It was literally only the news that Clara was leaving that made me keep watching because I wanted to see the character die. My reaction at her death was "serves you right" but then the show even back tracked on that because apparently Moffat has a hard-on for Clara and refuses to let her die. Clara should've died in the face hugger episode rather than the multiple fakeouts.

I am going to have to strongly disagree with this. Capaldi I will give the benefit of the doubt (though it took too long for him to settle into the Doctor role IMO) but Clara was absolutely the worst thing to happen to Doctor Who. There was nothing likeable about her to begin with and the more she took over the story, the less likeable she became. The audience is supposed to feel sympathetic and upset about her death but I was glad she died, that was the highlight of the episode for me. I was most annoyed when they went back and retconned it. Capaldi's run as Doctor has been ruined by Clara, and now that he's leaving, it's kind of a little to late even if he is brilliant with the new companion (which I hope he will be). Hopefully the new Doctor fares better.

I hate Clara more than I hate Kennedy, and that's saying something.

I hated Clara with Smith, but the improvement was there in season 8, but the writing was quite poor not Capaldi's acting. I thought the latest season was incredibly well done and Clara reminded me a lot of Jack Harkness, however, I do have to agree with you that they made her come back for a little bit was rather annoying.

I was incredibly sad when she died! But to each their own, right 😉

Dear God, I agree with every single word of this. Especially the Moffat hard-on bit. 😀

Its such a tragedy that Clara ruined Capaldi's run as the Doctor. Its also unfortunate that he took so long to find his footing in the role. Towards the end of the last series, I actually saw him as the Doctor...and when I ignored Clara the annoying midget, things were soooo much better. But as you know, SHE NEVER SHUT UP. That voice...like a shrill magpie...or a cat being eviscerated.

Hey! Has anyone else noticed that the new companion looks like a combination of Rose and Martha...?

The new companion looks like she could be fun so it'll be interesting to see how Capaldi gets on with her and what the dynamic is. Capaldi did take ages to find his footing (when that should've been done by the end of his first full episode) but I think the problem was that, because everything became so Clara focussed, Capaldi didn't get the chance to do so which has had a negative impact on his run.

Bill, the new companion, is gay. I think that's a nice twist on the "straight and in love with the Doctor" thing. And yes, she looks like she'll be
a lot of fun.

It's been this long ??? 😱 I feel a bit old all the sudden...

I loved Amy and Rory as 11's companions, especially Rory.

I stopped watching because having Capaldi around didn't feel right and the show became too Clara centric for my liking (Jenna Coleman is cute though, can't say the same for Clara)

Sounds interesting, when is the new series starting so I can give it a try ???
