The 20 Best Songs of the Last 10 Years (According to Pitchfork)

I would have once tried to argue the past ten years of music were bad, but that's only if you go by what music stations alone tell you to listen to. In some ways, with the internet becoming a prominent source for music and giving smaller bands a chance to find a wider audience, I would argue that this may have been the best decade for music ever.
 
Maybe that's my problem, I don't go looking for smaller bands, or music, I mean I avoid the charts, and top 40s and all the poopular music shows like the plague. Generally when I find a new song I like, I've heard it on a tv show.
 
The one sad shame of the internet age is the decline of music on television. Chicken and egg thing though. Did the internet kill music tv, or did the increasing lameness of music television spawn the internet music press?

I'd love to see bands like Bat for Lashes and Grizzly Bear on Top of the Pops. 🙁
 
Music has been excellent this past decade. This list does not reflect that at all, and that's embarrassing from a publication like Pitchfork that is meant to be dedicated to covering challenging underground music.
