The ANTI 'anti Xander Group'

how can you not love him, he is charming, cute and makes the best comments =D show some xander love
 
I adore Xander! He's so layered and so simple at the same time. He's a very nice and flawed person as well. It also makes him more interesting that while he's a flawed person, he's not evil. He's a good guy, one of the very good guys who never went bad, except when possessed, and yet he can be selfish and jealous. I love characters like that, who are a mixture of good/bad qualities. It makes their struggle against their bad qualities to do the right thing more rewarding and endearing.
 
He's really one of my favorite characters. I actually had a crush on him when i first started watching the show (i was like, 11 lol). For me, especially seasons 1-4, he was the funniest character (spike comnig in a close second). But he was also very genuine. I wrote a paper about him for my cult t.v. class and actually was considering sharing it with all of you (i got an A) so let me know if you guys want to see it.
 
First thing that comes to mind is Halloween (S2).

I'm not normally attracted to Xander but as soon as he was a soldier, barricading Buffy's house against demons....mmmm.
 
he's a normal guy, faults and all and thats why i'll always love him.... you watch a show this long, and you know the characters as if they were real, and spend so much time with them that you gotta either love or hate them. why bother watching a show if you dont feel emotions for the characters imo

Yeah, I know someone who only watches the show for Buffy and Spike. I don't get how they enjoy the show by liking only two characters and passionately hating the others. I like all the characters and it makes me enjoy the show more.

Sadly, I don't think so. It sucks that all the brave and loyal things Xander had done for his friends will always be pushed aside because he didn't like Buffy's vampire boyfriends.

One thing that has always impressed me about Xander has been his incredible bravery, from the first eps to the last. In "The Harvest" when, after they finally got inside the Bronze, he was the first one in, leading the way to rescue the people (he had no idea what awaited them in there!). Then, in Chosen, Buffy puts Dawn with Xander, because she knows he would've given his life to protect her . . . and he backs up the ubervamps enough so Dawn can kill them with the sunlight. Then, too, I felt so bad for him when, in "Innocence", Willow saw him and Cordelia and Willow said "You'd rather be with someone you hate than me." That has to be one of the most heart-wrenching lines in the series.
 
Xander is the character I relate to the most, and is therefore my favorite Buffy character. I don't really get why some people hate him so much, frankly. The guy had some hilarious lines and while I'll acknowledge his character did a few bad things over the years, but which character didn't? Willow tried to destroy the world and no one holds it against her but every mistake Xander makes seems to get all the attention.

But Willow didn't hate Spike and Angel, you know. 😉

I love all the characters, and all of them did awful mistakes, which makes them all very interesting and relatable. If they were perfect, I wouldn't have been interested.

the only thing i didnt like about xander is when he walked away from marrying anya, i thought that was a pretty horrible thing to do.

But he did it to save her from what he thought was going to be a life of unhappiness... He wasn't REALLY the bad guy there; that demon who "showed" him his future was.

Yeh but the whole point in him doing that and I love Anya by the way with all my heart, is that he would be going against everything he is . Anya killed lots of people , Xander didn't really think it through. It was horrible and I think he served his time for that one, but Anya and Xander are just as tragic as Fred and Wes realising they want to be together and then one of them dies x
