I'm actually a bit disapointed. I was against it when I first heard it, since it didn't have Joss' approval, and I still feel a bit weird about it, but I still wonder what it would have been like.

I can't recall why, but something about her made me like her. I hope she comes up with a more original idea. Maybe gets Joss blessing to take the slayer mythos and write about past slayers. I think that would go over way better with the fans, even if he had nothing to do with the writing.

Actually, what I would love would be a "Tales of the slayers" mini series, each episode dealing with a different slayer. Maybe even with the slayers that Spike killed. JM could make small guest apperances in the episodes with the slayers he killed. Maybe he tries to kill the slayer who was chosen right before Buffy, but she dies for some other reason before he can do it(then he and Drusilla runs into the mob), and we're left knowing that soon, Buffy will be approached in her school by a guy saying she's the chosen one.

Not gonna happen, but I could dream.

I actually really like that idea. That's pretty cool! And I'm kinda relieved the reboot is dead for now. Every time I think about it I get the heebie jeebies.

But see Joss himself refused to even take part in the movie to begin with. They offered him a chance, but he turned it down. He was so wrapped up with The Avengers and plus, given that the first time that he colloborated with Fran Rubel Kazui and Kaz Kazui for the original film, they twisted his vision. So I doubt that he will do anything else with the Buffyverse. IMO, the story has been told.

You can't possibly know that it would've been bad. It infuriates me so much when people are as close minded as you. It might have been better than Joss' for all you know.

I couldn't care less how good it might be. I think reboots should only happen when a show or movie was made poorly the first time round. BtvS and ANGEL were fantastic shows, so I don't see a need for it to be rebooted. It's a waste of time and they only want to make it to cash in on the Vampire fad that's happening right now.

If the new gen of kids want to get into it they can buy the DVD's or watch the show in full for free on the net. Plus it still airs on one or two TV channels.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The old show may have been broken to some people. How do you decide if a movie/tv show is poorly made the first time, Buffy wasn't exactly a power house in the ratings, so there could be areas to improve to bring in new people.

Look at Star Trek, people obviously love the original, but the remake was awesome.

I'd love the idea of Buffy going on as a franchise, being remade or retold, I liked the idea of the show, so if the idea was applied to another format of telling the story, I could enjoy is equally, or even more.

I love the idea of a reboot of the franchise with all new characters and stories, Buffy is a story that can be adapted for any generation. But I believe it must have Joss Whedon, and some cameo's from the Buffyverse 😛

I think that a new Buffy movie could be made without Joss or any of the TV cast being involved in any way, and still be a good movie, maybe even better than the TV series. At the risk of uttering blasphemy, there are other writers, directors, and actors available who are just as creative and just as talented as anyone involved with the series, and there is no reason whatsoever to just automatically assume that they couldn't turn out just as good or even a better story than anything that Joss would be capable of writing/directing or Sarah acting. I say, if the movie ever is made, which becomes more and more doubtful every day, judge it on its own merits. There's at least an even chance that we will all be pleasantly surprised, and if it's a total flop, there's always the pleasure of being able to say "I knew it all the time." That's what I call a win/win situation.

A new Buffy movie would have been different to the show. As the show were different to the first movie. Good or bad we'll never know until it's done. Some people just don't like change. Which I to a certain degree understands. Especially when it's about something you love and hold dear. It's when the "It's going to be crap because..." argument come into play I sigh deeply.

Just one of many examples. There's loads of remakes of both shows and movies that people love. I for one and many with me are very thankful for the remake of Battlestar Galactica.

How do people feel about american remakes of foreign movies? Good or bad?

No clue, but considering that many songs used today are from times when gay didn't mean homosexual, I bet a lot.

But while he said they he wasn't mad on the idea, he didn't say he hated it.

He actually pointed out that he is taking other people beloved characters and changing them for his story (his joke about his original idea with the Avengers)

I agree... I do think they should involve Joss, but I'm not as anti-reboot as I used to be. 🙂 As long as the cast and writing are great, I'd watch.

I'd like to find the few that disagrees. In all honesty though, which fans aren't kind of protective about "their" fandom? Depends on the context perhaps.
