I was just watching The Pack, and it dawned on me that Xander was the first person to be held prisoner in the cage in the library. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Then it once again occurred to me... why is there a cage in the library? Granted Giles could have made some customizations when he moved in... after all, he does store weapons and a plethora of "specialized" literature in there... but it seems unlikely he would have had the time or the proper explanation for installing a cage. Nor would it seem like something he'd see necessary at the time.
The letter slot thing in the cage door makes me think this may have a traditional purpose. Has anyone seen this in real life? Does anyone know what its purpose might be?
Then it also struck me that it might be fun to compose a list of all the characters that have at one point been locked in the cage. So I want to go ahead and start this list, then I want you all to help me finish it! Copy the list and add a character that has been locked in (In the correct order). If a character has been locked in more than once, his or her name should appear that many times and in the appropriate slots. I don't expect this to be that short of a list, and I'm anxious to see the final draft!
I'll start.
