Never too early for Christmas, it's just around the corner ya know?! So, lets have a Christmas thread! Talk about all things Christmas. What are you planning to do this year? What would you like for Christmas? What did you get last year? Do you have any Christmas traditions?

Post pictures of your tree/ decorations? (When they go up), Your favourite Christmas movie/music, and Recipes/pictures of your favourite Christmas goodies!

It's almost here and we can't wait, so ring the bells and celebrate. 'Cause when the full moon starts to climb we're all singing out "It's Christmas time!"

I'll be in Canada for Christmas & New Year so that's a first for me! Usually have Christmas at home but we don't really make a big deal out of it anymore (minus the food lol).

We usually go over to other family members houses etc on Boxing day and New years eve.

As for Christmas presents i'm not sure. I know i'm getting the BtVS and the AtS box sets so that's good!

Yay Canada! :D
OMG I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! This year, weather pending, we will have my brother and his wife down on the 23-25th Dec and then after they leave at noon on the 25th Abs Dad will arrive for Xmas dinner.

My tree is decorated in golds, bronzes and reds. They go up around the 1st ish of December. I've done pretty much most of my Xmas shopping already 🙂

As for Xmas songs there are many but here are a couple...

I haven't got very christmasy yet but since my computer crashed I've ripped some songs. That's about how much I've done so far.

When we still bought gifts to each other I'd hopefully been doing a lot of them by now. I hate the stress come december. Not that I have to worry about that anymore. About 5 years ago I suggested that the family would stop giving each other gifts except for the kids (that this year is only 1) and instead concentrate on being together and raising money for charity. Which we've now done. At my age and with no kids of my own the gifts didn't feel important at all. I do know that especially my mother and 2 sisters had a little rough time adjusting.

Posting a song in swedish just because I feel like it. 😉 Not your common christmas song and when I heard it for the first time I thought someone was kidding with me. It might sound as a silly/crazy/weird song made for kids but I disagree. Now I got the chorus in my head each december and loving it. Although, besides from my mum (of all people) I don't know many that like it. I say it's because it isn't well known.

I'm actually glad that my family is not the type that celebrates holidays. I'd hate going to special dinners, sing carols, have eggnog. (yuck!!) I'm not the type of holiday gatherings. I like though that everybody is in a holiday spirit. But I just don't celebrate holidays.

It's a bit early for me to be thinking about christmas to be honest, it's only just november and there's lots of work to be done before that. It's nice having it to look forward to though I guess.

Christmas is my holiday. I love Christmas. I have too many favorite Christmas songs to count... but the one I always share with people is Why Can't it be Christmastime all Year by Rosie Thomas

Yeah. I've been listening to the Michael Bublé Christmas album for the last week and a half

I love and adore Christmas. I pretty much spend my whole year waiting for it to come around again.

We have always made a big deal about it in my family and I love all our little traditions and how lovely our house always looks. And this year my nephew will be 18 months, so he gets it just that little bit more.

I can't wait. 😀

When it is closer to the time I'll post our recipe for a Guinness Christmas cake

Mods, would you prefer recipes were posted here or in the recipe thread?

post it in both :)
A question for the Christmas lovers out there: I never understood this whole "you can't listen to Christmas music! It's July!" thing. I feel like if a song is good and you like it, it's good all year long. I mean you don't listen to songs about summer ONLY in summer, do you? In the winter, they have a nostalgic kind of feel... the same nostalgic kind of feel you get when you listen to Christmas music in the summer... so do you all only listen to Christmas music at Christmas time? Why? Can someone please explain to me an explanation that's not "you listen to Christmas music only during Christmas time because you do"?

I think it's more then it's being played on the radio more than what you would listen to on your computer etc,or what you would choose to listen to at home and so on. It's like playing summer songs in the winter and vice versa (on the radio) i think people just get sick of it being played early when they are labelled as christmas songs. Only reason i can think of anyway lol.

When we have the radio on at work the presenters were asking if people would like christmas songs played, and people were phoneing in and saying "We haven't even had Halloween yet"

So i think to a lot of people they should only be played at christmas when it feels more like they should be, rather than any time of the year.

Personally, I try and hold out until at least November. The reason I do that is that I feel like listening to to Christmas songs during the rest of the year diminishes how great it feels when the Christmas seasons finally comes around again. I get a real kick out of listening to the Home Alone soundtrack for the first time every November. It kicks off the season for me. Keeping those songs for Christmas time only just adds to the atmosphere to me. 🙂

This is the answer I get the most often and I sorta get it... but not really. Listening to the songs when it's not Christmas just makes me excited. But I guess I sorta get leaving it to be the beginning of the season... like eggnog. There's nothing like that first sip of eggnog in November.

We don't do eggnog here 🙂

I don't just do it for Christmas, I have Summer songs too that I pretty much reserve for May through August.

This will be the first Christmas since moving back to our hometown in about 4 years for my husband and I. We are super excited this year since A. will be 1 1/2 and will be interested in the tree and presents etc. It'll be awesome to not have to travel on Christmas. I'm most excited about that. All the family, none of the driving 😀 I can't wait until thanksgiving to put up our tree!!

You don't do eggnog in Ireland?! WHY NOT?! It's so good! I feel bad for you now. Everyone else in my house hates it, but I love it so much.

And ok... see, you're consistent. you listen to songs about the seasons during those seasons. And that makes more sense to me. I mean it makes a hell of a lot more sense than the people who do the seasonal thing ONLY with winter/Christmas songs. That's my biggest issue with people saying I'm crazy for listening to Christmas music year round... when they do the seasonal thing with ONLY this season.

If there were Spring and Autumn songs, I'd do it for then too!

Nope, we don't do the eggnog and I have to say I wasn't crazy about it when I lived in the states either. I don't understand how you can have more than a sip without feeling sick! 😛

I really dislike christmas at the moment because it means all my assessment deadlines are sooner than I'd like them to be! What kind of sadists arrange deadlines around christmas anyway?

Yay Christmas!! 😀

We usually put our Christmas tree up last minute... (At least I know where I get my procrastination from), but I'll definitely post a pic of it when it's up. 😀

I even made my own Christmas playlist on my iPod for this year. 🙂 Anyways, here's a really nice song that will put you in a Christmasy mood...
