I have studied film for a while too, so I've seen all the oldest movies (like the Lumiére ones) of course.Being too a film student, I feel like I've seen every damn (and utterly boring) silent movie ever made. Which is almost true. Oldest movies I've seen, if you can count these as a movies, are the experiments of Muybridge, Reynaud, and Edison. Oldest "real" movie must be "Workers Leaving the Factory" by the Lumiére brothers.
Oldest movie that I really really liked though was Citizen Kane. I was in a bad mood when we saw this movie, and I figured it'd be boring, but god that movie could have been made yesterday as well as then, I loved it.
Hm, more modern classics..? Well imo Tarantino, and he's my big hero..
