The Crazy Ones Season 1 Discussion

Felt this episode was back on track after the dip last week. The show has a really likeable cast, and works much better focusing on them as a group rather then just certain characters.

There were some really funny lines in the episode.
 
Hmm, I guess I'm in the minority because both my husband and I loved the 3 episodes I've seen so far (haven't seen last week's yet)! I'm missing the outtakes though, stopping the DVR because I didn't realize they were there. Are you guys saying that the outtakes are actually being shown on TV immediately after the episode? Or are they just online?

I LOVED this episode. I finally like Sarah in this show! This was 110% better then she had been before, she felt way more comfortable in the show.

Sarahs rant when she burst into Joshs office was hilarious and perfectly delivered. I loved how clumsy and dorky she was. Even in the outtakes in the end she seemed more comfortable then she has before.

Her line about watching a 6 hour Bones marathon, then questioning if Josh 'even liked David Boreanaz' was just amazing, I love all that meta stuff from Boston Legal, hope we see more of that!
 
I watched this ep because BEG mentioned the DB reference on Twitter. I found the ep really jumbled, almost like it was missing huge sections but I must say I haven't seen SMG be so watchable since Buffy. Maybe because she had a certain Buffy dorkiness about her? It just worked.

Also, just putting it out there; given all the nods to the cast's tv and film pasts, I think David E.Kelly will be seriously up for guest appearances by famous former co-stars of the cast. I could totally see David, or one of the Scoobies guesting on an ep. I mean, look what he did on Ally McBeal. During May Sweeps, perhaps?

Completly agree, she was incredibly likable in this episode.

I also agree about the "missing section", I said it before for one of the other episodes that it's like this show is a 40 minuet show cut down to 30 mins, it has the same episode layout of Boston Legal or Ally McBeal but squished down to 20 mins, which can cause it to be a bit all over the place and hop from funny to sympathetic a little too fast. Aparently there was a show called Ally, which is Ally McBeal cut down to a 20 min show, either cutting out the lawyer stuff or her personal life stuff I can't remember - I feel it's like that except they still juggle both halves.

Deffinetly! Both shows always had big guest stars and given that TCO is smashing it in the ratings I'd say there is a very good possibility.

Given the previous Sunnydale reference in the outtakes and last nights mention of David Boreanz I'd be very surprised if they dont bring someone in along the way. Though Williams also have an impressive back catalog of actors to call from.

I see Ally McBeal strokes all over this and even from one ep I can see how it would work better as a 40 minute show. I don't see how anything could ever really happen when they have so little time. Though, I think maybe they have to find their feet yet. I'm not sure the creators know exactly what this show will be yet.

Kelly seems like he would have anyone guest. I get the impression that it's the more the merrier. During the scene where Sydney and her Dad are walking down the street and the see the bus I remembered that Alyson Hannigan is on the same network (that scene was very clearly shot on the same city set as HIMYM). It would be very cool if AH made an appearance.
 
Last nights episode was really good, I think the cast have settled into their characters comfortably, at the start I though Andrew and Lauren were going to be more background players, so I'm glad they are more main cast.

The joke about the Randi doll people treating her like she was real was so Boston Legal/Ally McBeal, that was brilliant. The assistant giving the doll tea was hilarious. I'm still not sure the show is working that line between zany like Boston Legal and being more serious in just the 20 minuets, it plays much better over 40 minuets like on BL or Ally McBeal.

But the series has definitely gotten better as it goes on, I found this episode really funny.

Is that cough cover technique called that? I've never heard it before and it's hilarious, took me a minuet to work out why it was called that, but I literally lol'd (which is always nice) when it hit me, do people actually call it that, or was that just to give Sarah a vampire joke (which is hilarious anyway)

Was actually wondering the exact same thing when I saw that Vampire Cough. Brilliant though...
Things aren't looking great for TCO, the series was cut short a while ago so will be ending it's run on April 17th, and CBS renewed most of it's line up today, leaving out TCO. TCO is also CBS's lowest rated comedy show, which I think is an almost certain to axed position.

It was ahead of Mom, but the last few months it's been behind Mom in the ratings.

It's not definite yet, as there are still some more mid season replacements to come on and CBS will probably release the final renewed/cancelled verdict once they see how they do.

It's kinda a pity, the show has some good moments, it's not fantastic but it's enjoyable and it way better than Mom.
 
I just started watching the Crazy Ones and I think it's hilarious. Great cast, everyone does the comedy well, but Robin is awesome and I love when SMG does comedy. She was always my favorite comedic relief on Buffy. I really hope it comes back for another season.
 
I'm really enjoying this show, which I didn't expect to, as I hate SMG in everything other than Buffy, especially her last show, The Ringer: I watched two episodes and was borderline suicidal with boredom.
