The end. Of it all...as in the world. To be honest, it doesn't frighten me anymore. I used to freak out thinking about the end of the world because it feels like you'd be losing so many family and friends...but it would be the end of EVERYTHING. You'd die with everyone! And plus I've just gotten over my paranoia about the end of the world...

Moving on, what are your thoughts/feelings about the end? And do you think it's coming anytime soon and if so, why?

Well there are some people who don't think the world will ever end. 🙂 I'm not one of them though.

To be honest, the end of the world itself doesn't scare me. However, some of the things that might happen around that time are very scary to think about it. I hope I'm dead by then, but I think the end will come in the next hundred years or so.

Even though I consider myself a Christian, I prefer the Norse story of the Ragnarök to the Christian Apocalypse. The end is nothing more than the old world making way for a newer, better one where all the old mistakes are corrected and forgotten about.

It scares me to think that the world is going to end some day. I don't think it will happen any time soon, but I worry about it every day. I believe that it will happen when we least expect it, and I expect it to happen every day, so, because of that, I don't think we have anything to fear right now. I do believe, however, that we're in the beginning of the Apocalypse. It's just a gut feeling I have.

Does any of this make any sense to anyone? I oughta teach a college course on the logic of Tru Mackney.

yep, it makes sense, specially cause of your...erm, abilities. ;)
The world will end whenever the sun decides to go nova. Humanity might very well end long before then, because we seem intent on committing suicide as a specie. I doubt I'll be around to see that, but some people alive today very well could be unless the human race manages to finally GROW THE F*** UP, which doesn't seem any too likely in view of the way it appears to be regressing steadily.

Yes, I'm depressed tonight - what was the tip-off?

Well, the world will end eventually... when the sun completes its natural lifecycle.

As for humanity... well, we are a remarkably adaptive species. I think we'll probably adapt to changing circumstances and environments. I think that, eventually, when we deplete the resources of this planet, we'll go and deplete some more. We may even evolve further in ways that we can't yet anticipate. Extinction is likely at some point, but I don't think that will occur unless or until Earth is in the path of another object in space.

Well, I'm atheist. So i see the end of the world as a scientific inevitability.

Will it be any time soon? Heck no. I'll be dead and gone long before it happens.

Will the end of the human race happen before the end of the "world?" possibly. Many species become extinct.

But again, ill still be dead before it happens. So i don't worry about it.

As long as it's not a very looong slow process, I'm cool with it. 🙂

But I guess we kinda are already in a long slow process.

I'm weird...

Well I wouldn't worry about the sun as much as I would the moon. The moon moves an inch and a half away from the earth every year. When the earth was truly created 3.5 billion years ago the moon was 10 times as big as it is today. One of these days the moon will pull too far away from the earth. The earth will spin out of cycle causing the earth to rotate well, out of whack. The deserts will be cold and the poles will be hot. It's scary. Watch, If We Had No Moon.
Not to say this will happen in our lifetime of course. Cause well, it wont. Unless something knocks the moon off it's course.

I'm one of those few people who actually has faith in the human species. I honestly don't think we're starting the Apoclypse, but I think its the start of WW3. Honestly though, I think the human race will continue for quite a long time. And the sun won't go for another like 5 million years, so I'm not gonna worry about it 😛

Yeah. WWIII sounds way more likely than the end of the world. That makes me sad, though. :-(

What?!?!?!
You need to back away from the Internet. Turn off the TV and stop drinking as much caffeine.

Science Fiction is a great thing but the end of the world/humanity won't be happening for a long while yet.
As Pala says, we as a species are very adaptive and will win out against most things that occur. We've already fought things that could be 'Apocalyptic' and survived, thats what we do. The other stuff, well we'll get a warning.

Seriously, your gut feeling is nothing more than trapped wind.

I believe in God but I also believe it to be a Scientific Inevitability.
I don't believe Doomsayers and the like, we will end in a natural way at a natural time which will be long after the bones of our great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandchildrens bones have turned to dust.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. We're in the beginning stages of the Apocalypse.

no wer're not

Interestingly the Moon will take Millions of years for this to become an issue so don't buy that overcoat if you live in the dessert just yet.

Listen people, we have our entire lives left on this planet, so of us will be around for decades to come and some of our posters children may even see in 2100. We have nothing to fear in the human race being killed off(7 billion people - thats going to take alot) and the planet will last longer than that.

Enjoy life, love the people that love you, care for those who need you and bring peace to your little corner of the world.
Thats all you have to do.

I totally agree! The world and humanity are both pretty durable. Making your little piece of it better is good advice.

Right, which is why I said it wont happen in our lifetime.
I just want it to be quick for me and my family and friends. I'm such a wimp, I hate pain!! But I totally agree the world will come to an end sooner or later. Maybe humans will develope 'Firefly' technology! Duno if that would be a life I would want to live though.

If it was to happen suddenly and all at once, I hope I'm not alone!

Death is the one journey we ALL have to take alone, no matter how many people are at your side.

There is nothing to fear in death, the fear is in life. If you live life as much as you can/want to then death should be seen as nothing more than the next step in your journey.

the quote "everybody feels alone, everybody is. Until they die." from conversations with dead people comes to mind...

I really dont have feelings about the end of the world...personally I think its way to complicated and depressing to think aobut so I really just don't...it will happen when it happens IF it happens.

I doubt I will be alive to see it and well if I am its just death...me My fear involving death is only that I am left behind to feel the pain of lossing the ones I love...

if its the end of the world though I die with them...so there is no "pain" in death...no one is left behind to feel loss.

just my thought...

Have you always been this optimistic? Cause I can't remember 😛

I on the other hand am pretty sure than humanity will start to die out in about 40 years or so, and it won't take much to kill us all. Remember the tsunami of 2004 and hurricane Katrina? That's NOTHING compared to what earth is cooking up for the future. Natre is gonna be all wack and it's our fault only, so I don't feel sorry for us at all. I'm sort of an nihilist when it comes to things like the end of makind, so I just say w00t! for that cause we friggin deserve it. No civilization has ever managed to screw up earth like we have, no generation has sucked as much as ours. I'm gonna throw a huge going away party the day humanity ends. Earth will then recover and start again from scratch; whoever put us huamans here on earth should learn from their mistakes.

Earth, on the other hand, will never end, not even if the sun dies. Well, the sun is probably gonna go out with a bang so I'm seeing earth as nothing but dust after that.

(perhaps I just need a prozac?)

No no, 6 months ago we were all going to die but with the success I'm making of my life, I'm more Glass is completely full:)

Have you ever thought about the possibility of a Zombie attack? That would pretty much decimate the human population. Just read The Zombie Survival Guide, it's all in there. Better watch out, Al. They're coming after you first!!!

Seriously, don't think I'll live to see the end of the world, so I'm not too concerned about it.

If they are coming after me - who can blame them, they are running on pure instinct and it is also natural instinct to go after perfection - me🙂

Saying that, what if your death brought about the end?
What if this place we exist is in fact all in your subconcious mind and you are, in reality, in a mental hospital or in a coma....we've seen Normal Again!!!
