The final end of BtVS - My theory

I am looking for an ending that is a bit anti-climatic. If Faith really is appearing in the last five episodes (though I thought she was appearing in the middle)...than I want to see Buffy and Faith battle the big bad together, than at the end Faith offering Buffy a chance to disappear. What I mean is that they enter the hellmouth, kill the demon, but only Faith returns, letting everyone believe Buffy is dead...than we see Buffy walking away in the sunset (chosing life over Dawn, ie Joyce's warning) and leaving Faith and the rest of the gang to carry on the series!!!

We're not sure wether Dawn was really visited by Joyce or that it may be the First Evil, but the rest of your theory sounds ok, but let's just hope, that this won't be the last season. (Faith will appear in the middle of this season of Angel, maybe tgat's were you got it mixed up)

Even though having Buffy end up crazy would be a interesting end to the show; i really hope it doesn't end that way. If Buffy's world wasn't real that means that Angel was just in her head too. Then "Angel" will get screwed. If there was no real Buffy the vampire slayer then there couldn't have been a spinn-off with Angel.

So then who is Dawn's mother if it isn't Joyce .... the monks? or maybe a nun?

I hope that none of this 'its all in buffy's head' stuff is true in any way. First, it would be an ending far below the abilties of joss and the writers. It is the single most hackneyed, overused clicheed soap opera ending possible. ***Then they woke up and it was all a dream*** It's terrible! Although they did give cordelia amnesia, so maybe it's not too far below them. I don't know if buffy will die though. I mean, she has already died a few times, (master, master in paralell universe, glory, episode where she turned into a vampire as per giles nightmare, etc.) I think there will be something more creative than death, but I certainly have no idea what it is.

I Belived in the end Buffy when be evil....Something is going to turn her against the gang and world. Anthony Stewart Head said they are going back to season 2. If the two shows are being connected its somehow has to go back to Angel-Buffy....Wouldnt it be weird. IF Angel had to kill Buffy to save the world!!

I don't mean it as a dream, but just that all slayers are really from a different dimension, where they're psyco-patient. The theory of Angel having to kill her would be cool too, if she dies she'll be brought back into her home dimension, where she can be happy and where she feels at home (she doesn't feel like she really fits in here!). This would make a great reason for her to become evil, but she'll have Faith and all the Sits on her side!

I don't think it would work to have all of this be in Buffy's head. It would not work with Angel. It just wouldn't work for me, and I think most viewers. It is an interesting theory, but I think Joss will come up with an entire new idea. I have a little trouble believeing that Buffy would choose to leave Dawn. I think it was Joyce, and I what I first thought of when Joyce said about Buffy, I thought of Buffy having to kill Angel to save the world. But, at the same time, Buffy wouldn't allow anyone to kill Dawn to save the world in Season 5. So, I don't know, but I think that Joss will work it out.

I didn't say it was all in Buffy's head, again! She is from another dimension, the Buffyverse is real and all, but the slayers are girls, being called trans-dimensional, and in their home dimension they go insane. But I, however, do see it as a possibility for Buffy to NOT come true for Dawn, at some point Dawn isn't even real!

I wasn't replying to specifically your comment alleycat, but I will now. As far as being in a different dimension, I think that would definately work better then this being in her head, however, unless they, the writers, were to start implying such early on, I would have a hard time believeing it. The ending of the show must be different then every other ending, especially the apcolypse. It's been done, and I would love to see something new and unique that would truly portray what the show is about. The alternate dimesnsion is on the right track to being unique.

And why, after how far she and Dawn's relationship has evolved, would she choose to turn away from her now? If she was going to do that, she would have logically done it in Season 5 when their relationship was new. Now, they seem to have a very honest and open relationship, I can't see Buffy breaking that unless she could prove it would be better for Dawn.

You know, we all expect that, but wasn't there some question about whether season five was that last season, even after the finale? I've read where Joss has said that they currently don't know what will happen after this season, but it doesn't really affect this season at all. This leads me to believe that he will always leave things open; the season finale won't be "This is THE END."

Yeah, I read that season 5 was going to be the end, but then UPN picked it up. I think it would be best to leave things open, that way you can always return to those chracters through other formats.

...-ent alleycat, bu-...

Grr! Arrgh! (from Mutant Enemy) It's Allycat!

Buffy has been doing everything for Dawn, she needs a life of her own, she has always been a little different from the rest, though she was the centre of the show, she always was some kind of an outcast. She needs a life of her own. She has beeen hiding her own sorrows behind protecting Dawn.

The season finale will be like this is the End, but only nearly it will be endy-like, but will leave openings!

And for the shows ending it definatly needs to be different!

I agree, she does need a life of her own, but that doesn't mean she can just chuck her responisibilities. She's Dawn's guardian and she needs to see it through.

She's not Dawns gaurdian, she's her sister, and though Dawn really needs a mother, Buffy can't stand in, she needs a mother too. Slowly but surely the whole taking care of Dawn will take Buffy to a nerve-breakdown!

Actually Allycat Buffy is Dawn's legal guardian as well as her sister. Dawn is a minor and after their mother's death Buffy was given guardianship of Dawn!
And why would Buffy have a nervous breakdown. I think if she was ever gonna have one of those it would have been when she discovered her destiny. If she can handle preventing the apocolyps (several times) I think she can handle looking after her little sister for a couple of years. As soon as Dawn is 18 (if it's the same in the US as it is in the UK) she won't need Buffy to look after her anymore because she is legally an adult.

Yes, but I ment something different from the legal stuff, Dawn needs to be taken care of by a mother, and thus Buffy became a replacement parent, while she herself still needs a mother, she needs a sholder to cry on, this will be unique coming from me, she needs Riley. She still does, do you think she's over it ... being a slayer, killing Angel, her biggest love, hurting Faith, breaking up with Angel, her mother dying, taking care of Dawn, herself dying, being brought back from heaven, a friend (Tara) getting killed, seeing your best friend turning dark, seeing your new lover going crazy ... there was never a point in which we could say, she was over any of these things, it's still a heavy burden on her shoulders and some day she'll crack, because after all .... "She's just a girl!"

It could work, but if it were to end, I'd like it too be in some mayor apocalypse or something. End it with a movie of both Buffy and Angel. They fight apocalypse thing ... yadiyadiyada ... lots of fighting. At the end she saves the day, but dies. All friends said for her death and happy for the survival of the world. Then at the end we also see Buffy waking up in the ward and going back home with Joyce and Hank! And then fade back to the friends. That would give a nice twist! But then it would not leave us totally clueless and it would show that the Scoobs and AI exsisted! And than it wouldn't be useless, what they had been doing the last 7 season (and many more, I hope)!

wow i think that would be an awesome ending!! That is def a great twist! I can't wait to see what happens!

About Buffy's relatives not coming to visit her after mother died...

I think the reason they don't come knocking on their door is because Buffy never called them. Buffy's father doesn't even know about her death. She knows that if she tells them, it will all be over for her. They'll take Dawn away for sure, and leave Buffy with nothing.
