The Fourth Annual Buffy-Boards Awards Ceremony Thread

*Breathless, sweaty from dancing, and looking more than a little worse for wear, PV departs from congratulating Joyce and takes the stage.*

This time, I really am the presenter!

Anywho, storytelling is a topic dear to my heart. That's why I'm thrilled to announce the nominees for the Storyteller award.

And the nominees are:

The nominees in this category keep Buffy alive by offering up the good stuff -- free of charge and for our exclusive BB pleasure. Congrats to each and every one of them.

Now, I personally dig a good story as much as the next gal. I dig a good story about Giles even more. That's why I'm so excited to announce OM 3.0 as the winner. His Giles Incarnate piece garnered two common reactions from the judges: first off, everyone marveled at how masterfully OM 3.0 manages to capture Giles' unique voice; secondly, we appreciated the way he inspired emotion in the reader. The word "chilling" came up a lot.

Here are a couple of examples of what the judges had to say:

They're chilling. I'm really afraid of these mysterious monsters and intrigued by these new girls. Also, I really like the voice. It sounds very much like Giles, but because he is keeping a journal, he sounds a bit more free and real (more curses I notice) than he might in person.

and

My vote goes for OM's epistolary Giles story...he has a real feel for Rupert's world.

Nice job, OM 3.0! I'd tell him to run on up here and accept his Golden Buffy, but unfortunately, OM 3.0 can't be here tonight.

*Having been freed from her straight jacket, but still without her heels, Lyri walks back on stage and takes the award from Palabra.*

Um, wow, I don't actually know what you say here, seeing as how I didn't...

*The shininess of the award makes Lyri loose her focus, and she grins at the trophy in her hands.*

WOW! I can't believe I won!! Thank you guys SO much for voting for me, this means more to me than you could possibly know!

*Lyri starts to cry great heaving sobs*

I'm so touch that you all think I deserve this wonderful award! I don't know what to say! Who to thank! Oh, GOSH!

*Lyri looks up as Kean walks out onto the stages.*

Um...gotta go!

*Lyri runs*

"Umm, what?" PV asks, staring rather stupidly after Lyri's retreating form. "What just happened here?"

 

[Kean]

"Oh for the love of God!...Lyri I DID not sign up for this gig just to follow your klepto psycho self around all night!!"

"Now I know why Pointy worked alone"

Kean strode purposefully towards Lyri...she was not happy.

Kean didn't want to have to resort of this kindof action but Lyri had given her no choice...from behind her back she produced Faith's infamous broadsword.

"So you see it's very simple hun...either you hand over OM'S Award or I gotyou arms off"

"What will it be?"

Lyri looked at the Buffie and then at her hands. A look of utter conflict took over her face. It last but mere seconds though...she looked at Kean, THREW the Buffie at her and ran.

Kean ducked just in time.

Um...ok once again I apologise for psycho Lyri...now on with the awards!

The Goldenboy Award is probably my favourite Buffie award. It represents all that is great about BB...the members. This award is given to the member that has carried the BB spirit to the fullest in the past year. The nominees are people who gave of their time and good humour to these boards. Who brought something special with them in every post and conversation.

We are lucky to have a community like this.

*Lou stumbles less gracefully back onto the stage dragging Cardboard Clem as awkwardly behind her like a ragged teddy bear and steals a box of Kleenex along the way.
*Lou squeaks out a, "th...." then tries again.

All the love in the last few months may just give me a heart condition!
This is one of those moments when being nominated was honor enough.
I'm really not sure what to say.
It's hard to believe I did anything special.
I was just responding to the AMAZING group of people on this board that make me want to log in every day and see what's going on.

There was a day last month when I was FORCED to sit upstairs and wait for a delivery guy. I didn't make it all day, and ended up sneaking downstairs and leaving the dog to watch the door. But, only because it reminded me how sad and quiet my life was before the Buffyboards.

All the people I've met, the time zones I've learned, the mudhut dwellings native to hell dimensions, the fact that the Scottish invented Neptune....all things that weren't part of my life at all about a year and a half ago.

Can it really be a surprise that when I met a group of people like the ones we have here that I dove in with both feet and chained myself down? I appeared utterly insane before and now, thanks to you guys, I appear slightly less insane by comparison.

I consider you people my family and I don't think I could live without you if I tried!
Thank you SO MUCH! I accept this award in honor of EVERYONE who has made it so easy and FABULOUS to be a part of this place!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

*Lou stumbles crying back off the stage using Cardboard Clem as a make shift cane waving her Buffie award at the crowd! While Mandy music plays loudly in the background

 

[Lyri]

*Stepping back onto the stage, Lyri gathers her composure and walks to the microphone*

Wow, who'dya thunk I'D have an evil twin?

*Lyri clears her throat.*

So, anyway, I'd like to invite Black Eye Guy back to the stage now, to hand out the next award. BEG?

*Lyri hurries back off the stage.*

 

[Black Eye Guy]

BEG walks back out onto the stage.

“Well I have to say it has been an eventful evening so far, the cat fighting, and shoe throwing , straight jackets and that insider joke Buffy made about a member - ha ha ha.

How this stuff doesn’t end up as headlines in a trashy magazine somewhere is beyond me!

So here we are, the final award of the night, this award is the House Cup, During the course of the year, we do house games so that when the others house that aren’t Drogyn win, they get to feel what it would be like to be sorted into Drogyn.

Sorry but that had to be said, I mean we see you from our Drogyn castle, trying to get as close as possible to see what’s going on in there, and we turn on the sprinklers and the electric fence, and we have a good old laugh, but we d feel sorry for you not knowing what it’s like to be in there, and we feel sorry for you.

Side note to our wonderful hosts, if either of you lovely ladies would like a private tour of the castle let me know and I’ll hook you up 😉

So after a year of games and fun, trials and competition, banners and stories we have a winner, and the house that gets to hold the house cup for one more year is….

Well, WOW.

I am deeply honoured to accept this award. The people in VH are some of the greatest people I have ever met. We have people that are always willing to help you and friendly like The Kinslayer. We have some of the best artists around in ~angelic slayer~ and CrazyFlakes. We have the generally cool people like Fake Shemp, Bluebird, Perny and Aussie.

But enough with listing people, I'd be here all night.

Vahla Ha'nesh is more than happy to win the House Cup. Words can't describe how we feel.

All the other houses deserve a big applause for the fierce competition provided in the Interdorm Comptetions and in the house wars in the IRC.

Once again a congratulations to all the other houses, you all do rule a hell of a lot...

..just not as much as VH (sw)

* Buffy and Faith walk onto the stage together, and stop just behind the podium. Buffy bends the mic towards her, making eye contact around the room and flashing a bright smile before beginning. *

"I've seen a lot of message boards in my day, and met a lot of people, worked with a lot of people. I've not yet been able to get rid of Faith here for long."

* pauses for laughs *

"But despite the thousands of members we have met, there are those members that come into your heart and you never forget."

* Buffy takes a deep breath. *

"We've been asked here tonight to present a special award, to someone that we certainly will never and could never forget. They are the type of person who would never raise a hand in anger against another member, whose patience and kindness has touched every member here, and who is such that even Edmund Blackadder can't find fault with them..."

* She smiles and steps back so that Faith can continue, winking good naturedly at EB. *

 

[Faith]

*Taking her rightful place in the spolight next to her friend, Faith smiles a genuine warm smile for once*

"I have been doing this for many years now, I have come across numerous members and staff that make an impression....be it good or bad."

"I would like to call out one particular staff member who has run the awards for serveral years and has conducted it as a gentleman, and as you will see....running these awards are no easy thing. Adding onto this he has the patience of a saint and has put in so much work on the boards, more than any of you will even realise.

*From under the podium Faith pulls out a special shaped award...shaped like a sharp stick...stakelike even"
