Okay I heard this saying once Friends Are The Family Your Heart Picks
I truly believe this. Looking back on my life I've had a very rough time. But I knew I could always count on my friends they've always been there even if it was only to talk. I think if it wasn't for them I probably would have stopped waking up in the morning a very long time ago. And since joining the BB I have made so many more new friends (you know who you are) I'm very grateful for them. So that's why I started this thread now this is just my opinion feel free to add something else in.

P.S Thanks for being truly wonderful people in my life you are my light at the end of this very dark tunnel.

You know, we've never really been close, which is nice, 'cause I don't really like you that much, but...
lol, jk...hope you recognize that quote.
But, i dont really know you that well, but to me you seem pretty cool.
And i so know what u mean about the friends are the family your heart picks thing..only...can sometimes your heart pick wrong?
See, theres this crap going on, and some people whom i thought were my really close friends decided to go hang out with new friends, and the friends that i have left are all secretly not liking her at the moment, but anyways, my point is, can sometimes your heart choose wrong? Or does it test you when you need it to be tested?

Okay that's a really good question. I think it could be either one of the 2 or maybe your heart didn't pick them you just made yourself believe it did? If that makes sense I hope things work out for you though. And I'm always here willimg to make new friends it's what I live for.

Oh, someone put a stake in me. Your friends are the pussies that agree with everything you say. The twits that have not the bottle to challenge you, even when they think you are wrong. Your friends are also the people whom in a clinch moment will betray you to further their own gains.

A friend is someone who always says 'yes', and when they do say 'no', you fall out with them.

I don't think you've got true friends if that's what your friends are like, either that or you have NO friends!
Not true. It depends who your friends are and how close you are I find the closer you get to people the more you're able to open up and express your opinions. Maybe you just picked the wrong kind of friends

I don't know PJ, I mean I admit I've had experiences (all too) much like that in the past, and often times that is true, you can obviously have falling outs with your friends over the most pointless of issues (as well as the not-so-pointless ones)

But in my experience at least, I have a lot of people I classify as friends, but I have a couple people I've known just as long as them, I think of them as my best friends, and we're all nothing like that.

I mean yes, we do agree a lot of the time, but we do most of the stuff you mention A LOT of the time. We challenge each other (and not even in the aggressive way most of the time, mostly just because we all have different opinions and we're all too stubborn not to support them 😉), we regularily disagree- just instead of letting it get to us we agree to disagree. I'm not saying we're perfect, I'm going through a lot of problems with one of my best friends right now and have been for a while.... but that's just the thing, it's been 3 months off and on of this, and we're still trying to work it out. No, we're not a WHOLE lot further ahead than we were, but to me, the fact that we haven't "fallen out" and aren't letting our issues completley tear apart our friendship, just goes to show that you don't always fall out with your friends over them disagreeing with you (or getting you brassed off for that matter)- you work through it. But again, this is just me, and I know from experience this isn't always the case.

sk8rj04- I'm sorry to hear about your friends 🙁 I don't know about the heart "picking wrong" thing, but I guess I just see it as you can't help who your heart "picks" to love (whether it be in strictly friendship or maybe even not that far), so maybe stuff like that happens so we can learn from mistakes? I hope everything works out alright! *hugs and chocolate to ya!* 🙂

Wannabe Slayer: I know what you mean about the people at BB almost like being a family of friends or something (oddly enough I just posted a banner on that, lol). I find these boards have that feel to them, that a lot of people are more than willing to make friends, and although we disagree, it's still a lot more "homey" than any other boards I've been on 🙂

Friends mean alot to me, they stick by you no matter what, but arent afraid to DISAGREE with you. Some of my best friends will say 'no' Who wants a friends who ALWAYS agrees with you? Thats rather boring. My friends will tell me they don't like somethign I do or they disagree with something I do, yet they still support ME. Because thats what friends are for.

Oh, someone put a stake in me. Your friends are the pussies that agree with everything you say.

Again with the Oh my, are you on some type of troll crusade to bring up the heat on BB? See I really do appreciate you actually creating some dialogue instead of all us going "me to", but I pity you if these are your real feelings.

Friends don't always agree, the once who aren't your friends. You might disagree with them and fight them and ha´ve strange love/hate relationships with them, but when push comes to show you always tell em you love em when you get too drunk, those are the real friends. Who picks em? No idea, but I don't it's as much a picking process as something random that just happens. The rest of the world push you away from them and there on the outskirts of the world you find em and why not stay together, it's just more fun than being apart.

A friend is someone who always says 'yes', and when they do say 'no', you fall out with them.

I actually think you could not be more wrong, if they are your friends, and they say know you should know what them mean by it, you should be able to take the advice they are giving, like another part of your conscience, because they are not going to advise you wrong on purpose! and it works visa versa too.

Is anyone friends with people from when they were children, cuz I have a friend who I have been friends with since I was 5, and in secondary school when you say that people are like wow, that's impressive, because they change their friends when they go into secondary school, and again when they go to collage!

Yep. I wouldn't want 'friends' that agreed with me all the time, that would be boring!

BEG, I don't, but I don't live in the same places where I grew up, either....I have some from High School, tho....that's been 20 years ago.

I think my friends have always been one of the most important things in my life. I've relied on them more than I would my family. I don't know if that's because I'm an only child, so didn't have siblings to go to with problems or to use as a sounding board, or what....but I've always had one or two very close friends that were there for me when I needed to talk, or needed a place to stay, or....whatever.

Well, I don't agree, I would never really count on my friends. Sorry, but it's true. I'd count on them to save my life if they had to and I'd count on them to help them if I asked them to... But I'm not counting on them to be there when I really need them, 'cause when I need people, I am usually extremely annoying (if I'm depressed and stuff).. and that's usually when I lose friends. (I'm not blaming them.)

My family is the only ones I'll always count on. My parents and my stepdad. And my grandma. Heh.

Having said that, I do agree that friends are extremely important though, of course. I have realized though, that I do quite ok without close friends around me. I don't have that many friends here, only one that I would at all call close, but we still don't tell eachother personal stuff and such...

I actualyl have BB to thank for most of my close friends, heh.. Like Carolina/Fran/doppelgänger, she's a pain in the ass, she never agrees with me and she's kinda mean 😀 But I love her and she's one of my best friends, lol....

Yeah I have found some great friends here on BB and other boards.
" Friends Are The Family Your Heart Picks"

I definitely agree with this but I think it depends on what experiences you are going through in your life!

I have found some great friends at the moment and we are always there to support each other, but I have also made friendship choices that are not so great!

Last year I was going through a bad time with work and family, and I started to hang around with a group of people who messed up my life even more! We were all battling our own personal demons and so we were drawn to each other. We started on a path of self destruction, were we would all go out every night of the week and drink and smoke heavily and un-beknown to me they would also disappear off to the loos to add a little coke to the mix. It got to the point were all of us were suffering from lack of sleep, and too much alcohol. Because we were all living this kind of life we started to hate each other and take out our problems on each other. I was the first to withdraw from the group, but one by one people have been leaving the group and sorting their lives out! Unfortunately some people are still stuck in that rut, and they look awful, I'm glad I left when I did.

Luckily for me I had some friends to fall back on, they were the friends that I had left behind when I joined the new group, and if it wasn't for them I would have been a lost cause! I know now that they are my true friends and that I'd just chose the wrong path for a while.

I think we need these experiences in our lives to make us who we are, so perhaps we do chose the wrong friends everynow and again, but I think it's to make us stronger and give us something to learn from!

Thanks...things are starting to settle down...i mean, we're still close and all, but whenever [Name] and [Other Name] comes along, it's like she's got to be with them, and not us. But those of us left behind have gotten closer. So, I guess thats a positive, right?

No. I was just in a foul mood when I posted that. Its not even what I was intending to say.

What are friends? Your friends are the people that make you feel good, otherwise they wouldn't be your friends. Why would you be friends with someone that makes you feel like crap. Now, if your friends always told you the truth, more often than not, it wouldn't be complimentary. For that reason, your friends lie to you, and you to them. And don't say you don't or they don't, because everybody lies. It is human nature, something you can break down to a very simple form, like wearing make-up, or dying your hair because it has hints of gray. All friendships are formed around or because of deception. People are selfish, you're not there to make your friends feel good, you're there for them to make you feel good.

Now, when I said "Your friends are also the people whom in a clinch moment will betray you to further their own gains." What I meant was. Lets say, your greatest desire in life is to be rich. If given the opportunity to fufill that wish by being offered 10 million and all you had to do was kill your best friend(without fear of being inprisoned). I find it extremely hard to believe a person wouldn't do it.

And Summers Blood. I have friends, I just don't need them, or rely on them. I don't need someone else to make me feel better, or happy. Or any of that other tosh you lot are talking about.

My friends are the best friends in the world.

I have two sets of friends. One set in at home where I grew up. All girls. Love them to bits. But theyre the complete opposite of me.

Whereas my friends in Glasgow, all but one are guys. Ive found that every girl ive made friends with in the past 5 years living in Glasgow have stabbed me in the back for one reason or another. So I just dont bother anymore.

In my group of friends, there are 9 of us.(besides me, only one girl) I can count on them for absolutely anything. Whenever I need them, they will be there, and vicce versa. I know this for fact cos there have been situations recently when Ive needed them and they were there, and situations where theyve needed me, and I helped anyway I could.

Like I said, best friends in the world.

Are you really that cynical? It seems like a lonely and sad way to live.

Are you really that cynical? It seems like a lonely and sad way to live.

Are you really that ignorant of reality? Ignorant of the nature of man?

Also, why did you quote what I said as a whole, but remove this line?

Why would you be friends with someone that makes you feel like crap.

+ Matt + agrees: lmao at your first sentence...I smiled for one of the first time's this weekend 🙂 Thank you!
Glad to be of help. Heh...excuse the pun, but...that's what friends are for..🙂
