The Little Things that make Season 6 so Good

I rewatched the 3 final episodes last night, I thought I'd watch them as one long three part finale to the series.

In villains most of the Jonathan/Andrew dialogue in prison is funny, Andrew thinking Warren's gonna rescue them, Andrew saying he was going to carry Jonathan when he was questioning why he didn't get a jet-pack. Other than that it's all about the Willow/Warren showdown, from which arises the question, Is Willow's form of eye for an eye justice right, or is Buffy right to insist that they don't kill humans?

In two to go, a great Xanya moment is this bit of dialogue:

ANYA: She (Willow) tried to use you for a hood ornament, Xander. She doesn't care if you live or die.
XANDER: Guess you two finally have something in common
ANYA: I care if you live or die, Xander. I'm just not sure which one I want.

Then there's Andrew referring to Willow as a magic mama, here's the whole quote:

ANDREW: And then what? You think your little witch buddy's gonna stop with us? You saw her! She's a truck-driving Magic Mama! And we've got maybe seconds before Darth Rosenberg grinds everybody into Jawa-burgers, and not one of you bunch has the midichlorians to stop her.
XANDER: You've never had any tiny bit of sex, have you?
ANYA: The annoying virgin has a point. What if Willow fillets their soles and then comes after us?

Xander calling Jonathan dabble-boy is another funny moment

Willow criticising Whiny Dawn! I feet a bit more sorry for Dawn each time I see it, but it still cracks me up a bit

Finally Grave:

1) Anya wanting a hug from Giles, saying, I'm blond too
2) Alyson Hannigan does great in all 3 episodes, just little things in her performance make it so believable and dramatic
3) Xander managing to connect with Willow, and of course the yellow crayon moment!
4) Buffy realising she's let Dawn down at the end, saying she wants to show her the world now, not protect her from it.

So that's my season 6 rewatch complete, it's still as good as I remember it to be from past viewing it, and I'm sure there's still loads more little moments in it to be unearthed. 🙂

I just realized Buffy's return from the grave incorporates the 5 stages of grief:

Denial: She tries to deny there's something wrong with her and go about life the usual way.
Anger: I wouldn't say she ever gets angry, but she understandably carries some resentment towards the Scoobies for resurrecting her.
Bargaining: One example is that she desperately wants to believe she came back wrong so she can accept her own behavior, as seen in 'Dead Things'.
Depression: This one goes without saying.
Acceptance: Breaking up with Spike and really with 'Grave'.

Of course, I wouldn't call this a 'little thing'. 😛

In "Hells Bells" when Buffy is stalling for time playing 20 questions with the guests she puts her fingers up to her head like horns and one of them yells out "Deathwok Clan!" made me laugh 😀

thank you! I never noticed that!
1) Definitely the exercising scene with Spike and Xander walking in
2) Buffy chasing after Spike in OMWF and immediately beginning to sing
3) Anya saying "You think it's sensible for me to go down into that pit of cottontail hell and let them hippity hop all over my vulnerable flesh?" in Tabula Rasa
4) Umm...Randy Giles and Giles awkward hug in TR
5) Willow slashing Xander's face first when he says "I love you" in Grave, then his heart when he says it again. That means something to me. Love begins with flesh, then it goes deeper to the heart.
6) Spike continually covering up his relationship with Buffy to protect her
7) The very first episode of season six: Bargaining 1, Buffy has to endure her biggest fear she revealed in the episode Fear Itself..being buried alive. What foreshadowing!

- Anya patting Giles' shoulder in OMWF, right before Spike's song scene comes up.

Fantastic 😀 no one else ever found that funny that Iv laughed in front of 🙂

My fav bits are
-Tara and Buffy finally getting close (big heart warming surge)
-Tara's speech to Willow about 'Can you just be kissing me now'
-The way it deals with REAL LIFE..people always say they dont like where it went but I dont know what they expected Buffy to come back and it be dandelions and roses?
-OMWF..enough said 🙂
-Spuffy..Enough said haha..one of my fav being him Tabula rasa kiss and him getting his lighter 😉
-Xander saving the world 🙂
-oh and Anya and Giles 😀
-and in my warped way all those moments that tear your gut out!🙁

oh god so many more i cant even name them..S6 is my favourite by far 🙂

Is that right, I didn't know that, explains it a bit, and heads up to him for saying he wouldn't do it again, it must be horrible to have to act something like that

That's a good moment that, it's almost like Anya saying "the show must go on, even without the groom if need be!". It makes a great ending to Hells Bells

It sounds like they perhaps added in the attempted rape when viewers were still accepting of Spike and his actions in season 6. I personally don't think it's out of character.

I don't think it was out of character necessarily, I just think they could have led up to it in a way that was more believable. Buffy did nothing at all to provoke Spike or upset him, so why then was he particularly motivated at that time to go over there and rape her, having not long ago just had a heart to heart conversation with Dawn, Buffy's sister?

James has actually said that he had therapy afterwards and took him 4 months to stop thinking bout it all..he really dealt with it badly 🙁
