The memorability of Angel

Am I the only person who finds it difficult to remember stuff that happens in Angel?

I never had that problem with Buffy. Though that could be because I'm taking longer to watch Angel than I took to watch BTVS.
 
Yeah I definitely know how you feel. Angel, IMO, just didnt have those iconic episodes the way Buffy did. Nothing in Angel really stood out for me. Buffy, on the other hand, I know from the inside out. 😛
 
It's true that I can't remember much from Angel compared to BtVS.

But I'm not sure if it actually has anything do to with show itself or if it's just because that I think Buffy is the better show and I'm more interested and invested in it.
I've watched Buffy more times, I read much more discussions about Buffy etc.

It's true, I do have a hard time remembering Angel, maybe it's because each season of Buffy is so different while Angel keeps the same tone (except for season 5). Which is weird, because I like Angel more than Buffy...

I have the same problem. I don't know anything about season 1 -3 from Angel! (*shame*). I don't had this problem with Buffy.
In my eyes the explanation is very simple: In BTVS the episodes build on each other and are very individual. Sometimes they fight vampires then inca mummy and sometimes ghosts or werewolves! In Angel there are a lot of very similar episodes where Angel slays some vampires while Darla and Dru fear the city. The episodes are not as individual as in Buffy. That's why I forget the details very easily!

I have problems remembering what was the main story in the seasons and also I can't tell what episode was in what season.
In Buffy I know everything. Liky give me a scene and I'll get the episode, the season, the plot of the episode and probably the dialogue too 😛
 
Apart from S5 (which I think I've watched like 2000 times), I didn't get as invested in Angel than in Buffy... I didn't get all seasons up until this year (I bought S1 and S2 in January) and as I was watching, it's like I had never watched it before... There are bits here and there that I remembered (like Doyle kissing Cordy before he died, Darla making Angel crazy, Darla and Dru killing the lawyers from WR&H, Pylea, etc.), but there were big holes in my memory as to what happened generally...
 
I wasn't a huge fan of Angel first time round. I recently bought the DVDs cheap on ebay and am going to watch it through again, but I don't remember much of the series except that I wasn't a huge fan of Connor or Jasmine.
 
Yeah I find it hard to remember a lot of what happens in Angel. Suppose it's not as relateable, doesn't stick in the mind like Buffy.
 
I'm the odd one out for now it seems, I don't have much trouble forgetting things from Angel, it's pretty much burned into my mind with the exception of a few episode (that I don't care for, skip and thusly don't recall too well 😉), the only thing I can have problems remembering about the show in general is exact quotations but then I have that problem with Buffy too.
 
No, I remember Angel just as good as Buffy, except for season 5 becuase I hardly ever watch it..
 
Not for me. I remember everything about Angel, could be cause I've seen it more then Buffy and vidding helps ingrain the littlest things into your mind haha.

I think it might also have to do which show you prefer. Like if you dont like Angel as much youre not going to remember it as well. I love Angel more then Buffy so I know it better. But I know Buffy really well too.
 
I love Angel and I still forget things. Although to be honest I forget things about pretty much all shows I watch. Like a few others have mentioned, I think with BTVS the seasons all have a very different tone and look, so it is easier to distinguish between the seasons/arcs which (IMO) helps make it more memorable.

Whaaaa? Angel was very arc-driven too... In fact, overall it was more than Buffy. S1 to S4 in itself was a HUGE arc. See Skip explanation in 'Inside Out'.

Just shush, Marsh. 😉 😛 Angel had plenty of iconic episodes... You're Welcome, Smile Time, A Hole In The World, Sanctuary, I Will Always Remember You, Deep Down and Not Fade Away. All those episodes I'd put over *most* BtVS eps. 🙂

Angel's story arcs aren't as poignant as Buffy's are. I think it's as simple as that!

I disagree. Angel S4 had the most poignant story arc of either show. And overall, the story was great!

Agreed. Personally I love both shows about equally, and I have seen them both around the same amount of times. They're both as memorable for me. I think I'd give an edge for the story to Buffy, and an edge to the characters in Angel.

I have to disagree... for me Angel was much better than buffy, and the story arcs were better by comparison, although it was harder to piece everything together because the arcs were spread out over more than one season, which for me was much more realistic, than a new enemy who comes once a year and is defeated around the same time each year.
 
Nah, quite the opposite for me. I remember a lot of individual episodes of Angel over Buffy. In general, Buffy was more arc-based so it became harder to pick out specific eps in a season, whereas Angel had more stand-alones. Not really the case with season 4, but season 4 was insane.
