The new, the old, and the changes on Angel (Good or Bad?)

While I agree that change is good, it's too early for me to decide one way or the other if the specific changes that have been made to Angel will serve the show well.

One thing's for sure: I'm gonna miss both the Hyperion AND Cordelia. Spike may be enough to fill the void, but we'll have to wait and see to be sure.

ok, i havn't really been watching Angel all along, i just kinda started last season, but i think that adding spike is defiently a good thing! I'm not sure about losing cordy...might be bad, might be good

I've been watching Angel since before I knew what it was really about. even before I knew it had something to do with Buffy. Thats right I became a buffy fan the first season of Angel!

Cordy was awesome and I loved her but I hated where they went with her and I'm angry that they left it the way they did. I want more answers. She deserved more.

I couldn't agree more!!! The thing people that say they ruined Cordy forget is rhat Cordy was possessed. If Cordy were to come back and not be possessed she could be as cool as season 1-3...I could just see her..."I was possessed!!! How can you think *I* sleep with Conner? I changed his diapers!! EWWW!!" If the writers brought her back, and made her the Cordy we love, a lot could be forgiven for last season.

Hmm...

I do think that it is way too early to tell whether or not the changes are good or bad.

However, I am glad to hear that the show will be going back to the roots of season 1. Having me stand alone episodes whilst still being able to develop the characters. That's what's different about Angel. The show works really well when it comes to stand-alone eps. The whole arc thing is usually fine by me, but sometimes it's better to have a season without any arcs.

Getting rid of Cordy - Pro (Though I really liked him a lot, I see that it was essential, so I don't mind.)
Getting rid of Conner - Definite Pro (She was a pain in the ass last season, good riddens.)
Switching from the Hotel to Wolfram and Hart - Definite Pro (THE most essential change and so far, so good!)
Having Spike come to the show - Definite Pro (Adds a nice twist to the mix, plus Spike's hot!).
Adding Harmony - Definite Pro (She's awesome and sooo funny!).
Adding Eve - ??? (Don't know yet, but I don't like her!)
Adding Knoxy - Con (I don't like him!)

I definitely think the changes were good. It's always good to add a new level to the show after a couple of seasons. Getting into W&H definitely opens up a lot more opportunity. The switching out of characters will take some getting used to...but I think it was a good move.

If the writers brought her back, why would she need to make a reference to doing anything with Conner? The only person who has any memories of him (besides the Senior Partners and Eve) is Angel. Cordy's have probably been altered too.


And Rayne, I don't think you need to worry about Spike getting back together with Harmony. We all know Spike loves syphillis more than he loves Harmony. Besides, didn't you notice how sexy Fred has become since last season? I'll give you one mighty guess who I think will be the NEW target of Spike's attention/affection this season.

Eh, I don't know. I wouldn't much like Spike and Fred being together. She's already been with Gunn, had feelings for Wesley, had a crush on Angel, and has something fishy going on with the W&H scientist guy...

Her and Spike would just be too much.

This looks like a good thread for my first post here on the boards.
I'm very excited about the changes for this season. Spike is my favorite character in the Buffyverse so I'm obviously very pleased that he's joining the show. His past with Angel gives the writers something extra to work with and I'm also looking forward to seeing him interact with the other characters. I also like the decision to bring back Harmony. I knew that Spike would be on the show this season but I hadn't heard that Harmony would be on and it was a very pleasant surprise. She adds some comic relief and, well, I like looking at Mercedes too. I liked Cordelia until last season but I'm not really affected one way or the other by her departure. I never really liked Connor so I'm glad he's gone. That's not a knock on Vincent K, it's really a knock on the way the character was written.

The switch to W&H is great IMO. There are several avenues they can explore here. Can you beat the system from the inside? How will working there affect the characters? You know that there will be attempts to corrupt them and a lot of temptations. They suddenly have things that might seem like a dream come true to them. Fred has a massive science lab with cutting-edge technology, Wesley has the occult library of all occult libraries, Lorne has his own entertainment empire to run, etc. How will this change them? I think Joss and the writers have a lot of cool stuff to work with and my expectations are very high. I think this should be the best season of Angel and I can't wait to see what happens.
