I have finally caught up, so let's talk Fringe!
I love love love love love this show. I can't even tell you how much. I just started watching last Decemberish and it took me forever to get through it since Netflix only had it available on DVD (I'm on the 3-at a time plan & was watching some other things too). Then when I finally finished watching seasons 1 and 2 I had to wait until September for season 3 to come out on DVD. Geesh!
So, favorite characters? Favorite episodes?
I loved Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, as well as 6B- hilarious lines from Walter in there! There really are very few characters I dislike. I really hated the alternate universe's characters at first, but the scene where Fauxlivia is giving birth was really moving, plus her interaction with alt-Lincoln (I like him more than the prime Lincoln). After that I started having more of an emotional connection with the characters in the alternate universe, although I still can't stand Walternate. Now, the characters working together across universes is interesting.
I love all of the slight differences in cultural references in the alternative universe. Really, the writing on this show is so superb. Why has John Noble not won an Oscar yet?!?!?!?!
My only caveat is that if JJ Abrams thinks I can keep all these universes straight in his mind, he is freaking crazy: the prime universe, the alternate universe, the flashbacks to Olivia & Peter's childhoods, the future possible universe as seen in The Day We Died, and now the prime universe that has been changed by Peter's "death". And I'm assuming that at some point Peter is going to re-emerge, so what will happen to everybody's memories of him being gone (& some characters not even knowing him at all)? Will his & Fauxlivia's baby suddenly re-emerge? I just don't know how they're going to put all of this back together, and hopefully they haven't ruined the series by doing this.
Trivia: I'm looking at Wikipedia's Fringe entry- I had no idea that Zack Whedon wrote some of season 1's episodes!
