The omitted dialogues: What conversations did you really want to hear?

I could list tons of reasons why Giles/Buffy isn't an unusual pairing! 🙂 And Hey! to the B/A comment. I love Bangel & Spuffy.

I always wanted Buffy to confront Xander after Phases when he let his sleep that he remembered everything from when he was semi-posessed in The Pack. I mean, the guy faked amnesia so he wouldn't have to apologize for trying to rape Buffy! You could tell it bothered her when she realized he lied about not knowing what happened. "You said you didn't remember".

I was REALLY upset that I didn't get to see Willow telling Angel what happened. He walks in, sees Willow, his face falls, and he says "Buffy". And the next episode picks up five months later after the shock is gone and he has survived the hardest part of the grieving process. Did he cry? Did she tell him *exactly* how Buffy died? (mystickal energy frying her internal organs) How did he spend that first day that he knew?

The real irony of that to me is that Angel gave up his humanity and the chance for a normal relationship with Buffy in IWRY so that she wouldn't die protecting him, and then she dies protecting Dawn in "The Gift."

I love how the Buffyverse is so developed and 3-dimensional that we could discuss for hours what might have happened off-screen or off-panel.

I think Angel assumed that if Buffy was ever in need of his help the Powers That Be would send another vision to Doyle or Cordelia the way they did in Bachelor Party. At the time of Buffy's death Cordy was the Cow Queen in the demon dimension of Pylea. Too far away to have a vision of Buffy in danger. Or maybe the "death" that the Oracles were talking about was Caleb killing her in End of Days, which Angel DID prevent from happening and she went on to kill Caleb instead.

I wanted to see more scenes of Spike & Drusilla's relationship post-Becoming #2. I was really happy to get to see their breakup with him catching her making out with a Chaos Demon ("all slime and antlers") and Dru accusing him of being absolutely Buffy-obsessed.

Drusilla: Why can't you kill her?
Spike: I haven't said a word about the bloody Slayer since we left California, Dru! She's on the other side of the globe!
Drusilla: You lie. I can still see her floating all around you, laughing. Why Spike? Why can't you push her away?
Spike: But I did, Pet. I did it for you and you keep punishing me.
Drusilla: You're all covered in her. When I look at you all I see is the Slayer.

I wanted to see Cassie's funeral. Azura Skye was great as her!

I wanted flashback episodes of Buffy's life before she moved to Sunnydale.

And the BIGGEST omitted scene of all, the almost two years between the end of Season 7 and the beginning of Season 8. You just know that all kinds of absolutely FASCINATING things must have happened during that time.

The secret B/A meeting. Obviously.

Buffy and Angel talking about her sending him to hell. She obviously felt extremely guilty about it. Also talking about him turning evil; some strong guilt there for Buff too. She really blamed herself for him turning evil. Although I get why the subject wasn't touched, since it was probably too painful to talk about.

Will/Xander ending their relationship (or fling, whichever). I thought it was kind of odd, though understandable, that they just completely ended it without ever saying anything about it again. They knew it was wrong from the get-go, but they continued on with the kissage because they couldn't control themselves. I don't really get how Oz and Cordy finding out made it any less difficult to control their hormones. But, I guess it's because of the guilt. Still though 😛

Buffy finding out about Cordelia and Connor and Darla. And pretty much anything else that happened to Angel, lol.

Buffy finding out about Joyce's 'little talk' with Angel in The Prom.

I definitely wanted more interaction about the whole 'Kick his ass' thing. When Buffy brought it up in Selfless, it's obvious the line really bothered her.

Xander and Cor after she had changed. Actually pretty much any interaction between Cor and the Scoobies after she'd changed would've been really cool. We got some between Will & Cor in Orpheus, but that wasn't really Cordy.

There's probably a bunch more... but that's all I have for now 😛

I wanted to see how Buffy created the Watchers Council (Slayer Edition), Xander spending MONTHS with Dracula, Dawn being the awkard social outcast (her own fault, she just doesn't have that cool gene that lets you not make a fool of youself in public), Buffy mourning Spike's death (she said "I love you" for the first time since Angel), the breakup of Wood/Faith (happy that was over!), Buffy's decision to be an international jewel thief to fund her global organization, how Buffy picked the castle in Scotland as the main headquarters, etc.

After "Chosen," Xander gets away from the gang for some all alone grieving and drinking time. Somewhere about halfway through the first bottle, he feels a gentle hand on his shoulder and hears a familiar voice, "Wanta buy a girl a drink" He looks up, and sees Cordelia.

(I know, it couldn't have happened according to the "Angel" Season 4 and 5 story line, but it would still have made a great scene if they could have done it as a dream sequence or something)

Angel became Twilight. He seems to know about the evolution thing, but who told him? And what influenced him to become Twilight? It can't be the same Angel from the end of AtS but we have no idea what happened to him in between AtS and S8.

InsaneMystic agrees: Joyce never got to see Ted's robotic damage face... and gives Buffy a very shocked face at B's line "lies on the junkyard. ... of life!"

I really wanted to see Buffy's time in Los Angeles post-Becoming #2/pre-Anne. We know she got an apartment and became a waitress at Helen's Kitchen. How did she spend her first few days and nights? Did she have enough money to get a place to stay right away? Was she on the streets until she got a full-time job or did she live in a motel?

I wanted to see Caleb's story before he came to Sunnydale. I mean, he aligned with the First Evil, helped start an apocalypse, blew up the Watchers Council, hunted and stabbed to death Potentials/SITs, and blinded Xander in one eye. He was a VERY important character. And yet we only had five episodes with him. I would have liked to know more about him.

I would really have liked to see how the Scoobies and Spike continued to fight her mission after Buffy left at the end of Season 2. I can imagine some really funny adventures they must have had, without Buffy to constantly save them 😉

The moment in Pangs right after Xander lets it slip that Angel was in town and everyone looks at Buffy. You just know she shouted "I knew it!" since she was sensing his presence the entire three days he was there.

I have this theory that Xander kind of wanted Buffy to be mad at Angel so he "accidentally" let slip that he was in town. I mean, it's either that or he's just really dim.

I forgive him the slipup since he was suffering from Smallpox and Syphillis at the time and I don't think anybody told him that they were trying to keep Angel being in SunnyD a secret.

I really wanted a scene of Buffy seeing Angel in his towel right out of the shower. There were a ton of half naked Angel just took a shower scenes on AtS.

Exactly. I think it was pretty clear what an inefficient team the Scoobies were without Buffy around.

Come to think of it, though -they did have Spike. He was pretty competent with fighting evil and all that, even despite his whole not playing well with others thing.

I think it was that the Scoobies needed Buffy to physically save them while Buffy needed them emotionally so that she would have something to stave off her "death wish". Buffy has proven quite capable (martial arts, supernatural abilities, cleverness) on her own while the Scoobies (Anne, Fool For Love, Listening to Fear, Bargainning, Touched) are a sad sight without her leadership and the fact that she did 80% of the fighting in the group.

It wasn't just emotional. They did research that she didn't want to do, they've helped her in the final battles per season. (I'm sure she could have started breathing on her own or fought the giant snake mayor on her own though...) They've saved her life (granted not as many times as she has saved theirs but if it doesn't count then...well, I don't know 😛.)

Writing this I just thought of "Killed by Death" when Buffy was sick. Angelus attacked in the graveyard and the scoobies fended him off.

Sarcasm is just so...sarcastic! I didn't mean to imply that they NEVER not even once helped her on more than an emotional level. I do think that she could survive against the forces of darkness and Monsters of the Week without them. She is very formidable and resourceful. When one area of assistance is cut off she would hone another skill or find another way to fight. The reason she went to face The Master with a renewed sense of nihilistic purpose was due to Willow's state after finding classmates slaughtered in the AV room and Giles with his earlier comments about how she is their only hope. If she had stuck to her original plan of staying in for the night she wouldn't have been killed and The Master wouldn't have risen "You're the one that sets me free". The reason that Buffy was out patrolling with a 103 temperature was guilt over Jenny's death. Without that emotional tie she wouldn't have been that reckless with her life that night.
