As with every season of the show, I'm sure there's one thing about S6 that we dislike. So, what's yours?

Personally, if I had to go with the thing I hated most about S6, it would have to be Tara's death. I look at it from a writers stand-point, and there was no real reason why she had to be killed off, other than to get the main villians of the season out of the way. Although it did give us Dark Willow (one of my favorite parts of Willow's character), it seems meaningless otherwise. It's hardly ever brought up again S7, apart from the earliest episodes of the season, before Kennedy and Willow start having a relationship

I loved Tara. But the episode where she died was such a shock. I wouldn't want it to have happened any other way.

What I disliked about the series was the magic as drug metaphor. That was painted a bit broadly for my liking.
 
Probably sloppy writing and plotting when it came to Willow's addiction arc. I loved the dark themes that season 6 had. OMWF would have been a gigantic cheesefest if they didn't have those themes.

A runner up would be (and I imagine alot of people will mention the magic as heroin arc) the lack of Whedon as a director. Poorly executed episodes such as As You Were could have instantly been better.
 
What was there between Tabula Rasa and Seeing Red?

Okay, I'm asking that rhetorically, but that's really my problem with the season. There's so much nothing in that space -- the only episode that really sticks out is Normal Again -- that I kind of forget everything in the middle, which considering that that makes up about half of the season, is a real problem in my mind.
 
Willow, just in general, is one that sticks out for me. I don't dislike the character at all, and didn't in S6 either, but I thought that so much of what happened with her occurred very suddenly and didn't always make a lot of sense. There was a huge problem with her split with Tara too. I ended up liking Tara far, far more once she split with Willow. She came out of her shell far more anyways.

And the drug metaphor made me roll my eyes more than once, sad to say. It was executed poorly and most of the writing was pretty cringe-worthy. The fact that it was basically just dropped entirely in S7 because the writers couldn't come up with anything to do with Willow without magic just made it worse.
 
I was going to write something about the poorly executed magic/drug addiction arc until I saw 'As You Were' mentioned above. I really don't like this episode. To me, it makes no sense. Why did Riley have to come back? Why was he married? How was Spike 'The Doctor'? - none of it made any remote sense to me. The ending of the episode with Buffy and Spike 'breaking up' or whatever you want to call it - broke my heart. For him. Just...yep, didn't like the whole episode. It's almost as if the writers went 'okay, we need Buffy to end things with Spike, what can we do? OH I KNOW! Let's make Spike this evil-demon-egg-minder which the viewers have never heard about before and act like it's a big deal AND bring Riley back because Buffy needs to have it shoved in her face how happy he is now!' 😡

I personally think Riley coming back was completely necessary, it was just done badly, a generic plot with bad villains. Plus, that's the thing. Shoving Riley's oh so perfect life in Buffy's face was pretty much the point. It broke my heart to see Buffy undergo the awful treatment by Warren and Spike in ''Dead Things'' and the only that made me slightly happy was that wonderful moment she shared with Tara at the end. It took Riley's appearance to bring back the memories of what long term happiness means for her to gain perspective, and to undergo a road of recovery... that continued at the end of Normal Again, and peaked in Grave.

As for Spike minding demon eggs, I found it very much in character. As the season progressed, we saw a more beastly, ugly side to Spike. I could write a whole essay on this, but As You Were and Riley's presence was the push that Buffy received to improve her life.

Agreed. As You Were was very much a bright spot for me in S6. It not only reminded Buffy who she could be but also was a breath of fresh air for the audience in a season so thoroughly mired in despair and degradation.

The problem I had with the demon eggs was the fact it was so out of the blue. No one (audience included) had any idea that this egg thing was happening. It was just thrown in as a plot device - I do agree that it was in character for him to do something like that, but it was very, very poorly written. Unless of course this was the point; that we were all supposed to be blind-sided by his attempt at being well-behaved. It just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm not sure about the inclusion of Riley as one of her defining moments of clarity - her relationship with him ended because it wasn't working and they weren't happy together. She could have easily drawn on her experiences with Angel to gain that same feeling of past happiness - but I do understand your point🙂
 
Hands down it was the magic as a drug metaphor. It was really lame.
As an add-on to the overwhelmingly lame & roll your eyes obviousness of the drug metaphor is calling magic "magics" all the time. I dunno. Just grated on my nerves.
 
Without a doubt, the "magic addiction" storyline and Dark Willow. That story arc completely ruined Willow for me.
 
Abysmal writing

Massive problems with continuity and internal coherency. Lame metaphors. Lack of character development. Main character being barely a part of the main storyline, like seriously, when did Willow become the lead? And why in the world is a B-movie inspired action-adventure show suddenly turning into a boring, shallow, pretentious, lifeless drama? What is this garbage?

This. The show becomes a boring slog, no engaging storyline, no entertainment value, no nothing.

BTVS has always been a DRAMA!
My main issue with season 6 is that it just gets too depressing.
I don't mind some problems, heartache and stuff during a season but when it's never-ending it gets a bit much.

It's so typical for the season that when things finally seems to lighten up a bit with Willow and Tara it last for about 3 seconds.

My problem with season 6 is Warren. I hated him, which probably means he was a very good villain. I also don't like the fact that Tara died. That set into motion the events that brought Kennedy into the show.

I'm not Warren's number 1 fan either, but what I liked about him was that he wasn't a vampire or demon. He was just an evil human being. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the real world who are like him.
