This is becoming a sickness...😛

@Octavia if your house has an attic, you might benefit from adding some attic vents. I did that some time ago and got the temperature in the attic over the kitchen to go from 140°F / 60°C to outside ambient for a radius of about five feet around the vent. I used stainless steel hardware and it has stayed clean and rust-free for over 20 years. Soffit vents also work well because they are shielded from rain.

The roof has a few of those whirlybird things, most houses in Australia have them. A good idea 🙂

Its extra warm this year because the shire cut down the trees across the road in front of me and now the tree across the sunrise side too. They havent yet replaced the trees since the construction across the road has finished so it is just a big sun suck car park and reflective building. They will have to put some greenery in eventually but it is too hot now to plant anything. I used to have shade until about 10am, now its FULL SUN FULL FORCE from 5am until about 3pm when it falls behind my trees at the back. I really hope the air con survives! Its only in the lounge room but that is all I need.

I planted some frangipanis out the front before winter but it doesnt look like they have taken root 🙁 . I do need a couple of trees out the front but the electric wires run there so it would have to be something I can prune myself. Maybe some more liquid amber types, but if I can find a native deciduous that would be preferable. Something that the birds like to eat would be perfect 😀

The roads have melted twice already this summer, but I don't have near on as many trucks coming past as I have in previous years so there haven't been any road works up this end of town. They have to keep dumping blue metal road base stuff to melt in to the tar up the other end of town, the dust is awful so I am very thankful to have avoided that this year!

ARGH! THERE IS A SNAKE IN MY HOUSE! IT IS BEHIND THE DISHWASHER! I AM FREAKING OUT! I emailed my mum to help call a snake catcher... i dont think it is huge but im not going near it! my boots are in the same room. I have baracaded myself in the lounge room with the bunnies.

THIS is one of the reasons I'll NEVER live in Australia. 🙁

Still better than a volcano
I ran to my neighbours who gave me a beer and then let me use his phone to call a snake catcher. The lady rekons the snake would have nicked off since i took my eyes off it. Pray we find it or i will never sleep again! Its not a big snake but i paniced. If it was outside no worries. I left water outside and everything. Duno why it came in !!!

I know it is only a little snake, she practically laughed when i told her but i freaked out bad. It came at me with its mouth open! Please please please pray it is still under the dishwasher cos if its not I will start a spewathon in fear, i just know it!!! Might do that anyway, really worked myself up and its so bloody hot. Im watching the dishwasher to see if it makes a move but i cant even hear it any more 🙁 i hope it is there and not somewhere else!!!

We couldnt find it 🙁 🙁 🙁 That is the worst! We pulled out the dishwasher and the fridge and she thinks its either gone behind the cabinets or back under the house. There was a big gap behind the dishwasher where mice have been getting in and that is exactly where I saw it so I hope it went back out. I have no problem with it if it is under the house as long as its not IN the house. She told me to wear shoes for a while and sweep it out with a broom if I see it. I know it was only a little one, but I set off a migraine anyway 🙁

I had heard strange movement behind near the fridge and dishwasher the last few days but wrote it off as mice, it is more likely the snake only came in today because it is so bloody hot outside. I have heard lots of stories from people in town about snakes in their houses but they are always so little people just sweep them out with a broom. My neighbour told me he has had them right up in his bar but once they go you never see them again.

The bunnies will have to fend for themselves tonight. I will feed them and lock the ducks up and then block up that gap in the floor best I can - then I will have a cold shower and go to bed. I have to walk through the kitchen to get to the toilet though so this is a problem I am going to have to figure out. Shoes still kill my feet since they are burnt but I would rather that than stepping on a snake (as I have in the past bushwalking!)

WAAAAA I wish we had found it so i knew it was gone. I have more stuff to move in the kitchen, we couldnt possibly look under everything. She helped me take some rubbish out and was really kind once she heard I live alone, she kept saying dont tell myself I will get sick and I wont but the headache had well already started by then lol. At least I got some kindness which was a big help, she could see how stressed I was.

Uhoh Xander is thumping - that is rabbit for DANGER! EEK

Well, the kitchen is clean now hahaha. I had actually cleared the table yesterday but in snake hunting I piled it so high that the damn thing collapsed... Most of my boxes are out the back now. I filled the gaps and sprayed eucalyptus oil around. If it did get behind the kitchen cabinets, its not getting out again. I saw it right near the gap in the floor that it would have entered so I hope it just went back out there (I also discovered I had left the back door open a smidgen.)

I have searched every where else in the house super thoroughly, except my bedroom (I just cant bend over any more to pick up those clothes) and behind the TV cabinet. I doubt it would be in either of those places though because it would have had to gone out under the floor and come back up through the floor to get to the TV cabinet, and got past me freaking out trying to put shoes on to get in to the bedroom before I had stuffed towels under the doors.

I have had a snake behind my fridge before when I lived in the shed. A MUCH bigger MUCH nasty snake. But I didn't freak out like this cos I was so overmedicated 😂 The snake lady practically laughed at me when I told her the size of it, granted I only saw bits of it and its tiny head WITH ITS MOUTH OPEN (a whole inch...) she kindly just told me to sweep it out of the house with a broom like everyone else in the neighbourhood does. She did recommend a guy in town if I couldn't manage it though. I defo have to find a phone I can use. My neighbours push button one did not hurt my head as much as smart phones, but who knows, maybe it did cos this migraine is epic already. I don't think I can sleep.

I keep hearing mice, which is what I hope Xander is thumping at. It is harvest time so mice are inevitable right now. There were two untouched packets of rat poison behind the dishwasher and last night one of them set off the mouse trap but wasn't caught. I wouldn't mind if the snake hung around under the house and ate the mice as long as its knows its place and doesn't come inside again! I'm less worried about me and more worried about the bunnies. I live extremely close to a medical centre, but the vets are 60kms away.

Haven't had a shower yet but boy do I need one. I think dinner is just out of the question tonight but I should find some sort of snack at least. I rarely take paracetamol but I'm going to need it tonight! I need to calm down haha.

There's a good possibility that it's gone, but nevertheless, remain vigilant. Have you tried poking under the dishwasher with a broom, or...? Its better to know if it's there rather than...being surprised. 🐍

I would've torn the entire place down looking for it. I've had large lizards get in here, and even though I was terrified, I took a deep breath, then did what I could to flush it out.

God, I hate reptiles.

How odd...an hour ago, when I opened the front door there was a lizard on the threshold. No shit. It wasn't very big, but still! The timing! 😂 Usually they only pop up during hot weather... I guess this one was trying to escape the cool weather. Little bastard. I whacked it with the broom which I ALWAYS keep by the door, for situations like this. 🦎

Oooh, look what I found. 😍

Omg the reptilians are taking over!!
The snake probably came in just to eat the mice. Did you identify what breed the snake was?
Yeah, the breed of snake could be kind of important down under! 😲

I honestly didnt see enough of it to identify it but the snake lady thinks it was most likely a tiger snake as they are the most common around here (and also usually smaller as far as I know). It looked a dark grey to me, but it was behind the dishwasher and not in the light at all. Im not a great witness, when the snake in the shed was behind the fridge I swore it was red, when they got that one out it was defo a green tiger snake lol 😛 I had a heck of a lot more snakes there than I do here, and much much bigger ones, which is probably where I developed such a fear because I used to be ok with them when I was a teen.

You're right @Ethan Reigns that it was following the mice, there was quite a lot of "evidence" behind the dishwasher, that is for sure! Its all VERY clean now though. I spent today blocking every little tiny gap between the floor boards with antibacterial wipes haha. The lady said any strong cleaners would help deter it.

I have not seen or heard any sign of it today but I have been very quick through the kitchen when I have gone though lol. Still pretty stressy myself though. I dont want to make dinner! Also its stupid hot again today and stupid hot in the kitchen. I just want to chill out with the bunnies and watch Heartland. Anya gave me wonderful cuddles earlier, she can sense when I'm off. Xander is super grumpy so he's not been out to see me yet.

Speaking of the little devils, Anya just tried to run up a vertical tunnel... I think that means I should spread their playground out again.

Only putting this here cos that where the rest of my scary snake talk is .... I went to the cafe for breakfast this morning and they said they had a snake in their kitchen last week! They accidentally cut its tail off instead of its head and it was - - -
mad as a cut snake 😛

I think I have to thank @Last Watcher for that bad joke influence... True story though!

And now I need a nap. Exhausted from human interaction lol.
