I don't have one of those high metabolisms so I have to work really hard. I find that in my case, most diets don't work because I love food way too much.
I am also really lazy and hate to work out. But we all have to take really great care of our bodies. So I will share with you how I keep in shape.
I truly do try to eat a lot through out the day. But not alot of heavy stuff. If I am up early enough I eat a nice breakfast. Usually Canadian bacon, instead of real fatty bacon, and an egg, and I add a little cheese to the egg and even some of the bacon. Just chop it into bits. And try to add a piece of fruit like a couple of orange slices or kiwi or anything you enjoy. And I always have a glass of orange juice and a glass of milk.
Between breaky and lunch I try to eat a handful of nuts, like almonds or peanuts. In their most purest form. If not nuts then a fruit or some veggie sticks. This helps keep a slow metabolism on the move.
Then for lunch. I try to eat a salad or depending on my snack, some veggies. Pita's and things like that, contrary to popular belief, are not as healthy as you think they are. So if you want a sandwich. Use white bread instead. Look it up if you don't believe me. 🙂
for dinner, now dinner is the tricky part. We are all most likely used to a nice hearty dinner. Well it's best to have a grilled 'something' whether it be Chicken breast, turkey breast or sometimes even a steak. If you want a side, best thing is salad or a very healthy rice. If you must have potatoe then find a way to have it without adding too much crap to it. 😉
Then dessert. They changed the last time of the day you should eat from 6pm to 7pm. So if you eat dinner at these times, it's best to leave a snack out. If you eat before hand, try to throw in another handful of nuts, or some fat free jello. A yogurt at this time isn't the best thing to have, but it's not a terrible thing either. Always best to keep all that dairy in the beginning of your day, so your body has time to work it off.
Now how do I keep my body in shape? By getting off my lazy butt. It really sucks and most times I dread actually getting up to do it. But once I am doing it, it's fine. I enjoy it.
I joined a gym that has raquetball. So I play that as often as possible. Then if I am tired of that I use the cardio machines and weight machines. Doing weights can be more beneficial in some cases and it makes you work harder. If you don't believe me there either, I say, look it up. Always good to be knowledgable.
Now that the spring is rolling around we, my spouse and I, have started filling up our daily activities planner. Now that may sound geeky to you, but it really works for us.
Everyday we write an activity down. Whether it's Rollerblading for the day, or biking, a long walk with the dogs at the park or going to the gym. We try to change up the activities daily so we don't get too bored. We also throw in here and there a game of catch, or kicking the soccer ball to each other. It may not seem as active as the other activities but it gets us off our butts, out of the house, and active.
If you want to pm me on any meal ideas, please do, I can really help you out. Or, if you want to ask flat out in this forum and arent shy, I can do it here too.
