No? I estimate that zoos should contain hairy emus. Well, assuming silly nihilists understand today's school.

I think it falls in line with the no proof we actually exist or what were doing is actually happening debate doesn't it? Only heard philosophy through a friend, and wasn't really interested.

yeah, but who said that emus are emus... like "does a tree make a noise when nobody is there?" who said the grass is green.. or the sky is blue... or emus in zoos... you know what I am saying? WHO ...

^ LOL good point!

By definition, a fact is "something that is known to have happened or to be true or to exist", and that sounds a lot like what I learned. But I myself think it all has to do with human perception. A fact (or any fact for that matter) may not be true, but we typically see it as such; to the human mind it appears to be without a doubt proven and correct. So it all really depends on how we as a species see something.

For example, it's a well know "fact" that (typically) the sky is blue. It's one of the most basic facts out there, really. But I wonder, some animals are colourblind right? So they would see things differently, maybe the world as a shade of gray or what not. So how do we know, for sure, that our way is the "right" way of seeing the sky? How do we know that humans don't have some altered sight perception as well, and the sky is really red? If that's how we've seen it for our entire existence, we wouldn't know any better. And because we (as a whole, at least) seem to have this frame of mind that we're a superior species in our evoloution, and that our way IS the true way things are, we wouldn't ever think to really question it. Looking at it like this, it seems that much more possible that the sky is differently coloured, perhaps every colour is REALLY the opposite of how we see it, and since every human on earth is like this, we'd all agree on something that really isn't true.

So, if you look at it like that, facts really are a complex thing. If a fact is really something that is BELIEVED to be correct, than yes, there would be facts in life. But if a fact is really something that is ACTUALLY correct, than no, there really aren't any facts out there, at least none that we know about. And at this point, we really can't know if the two ever "overlap" (or are the same), or not. So we now have "believed facts" and "actual facts".

So, in my opinion, no, there are no real "facts" 🙂

That was fun! ^_^

ye"does a tree make a noise when nobody is there?"
It's doesn't, when a tree falls it makes vibrations but vibrations are only converted into noise when they come into contact with the bones in your ear which is what makes the sound!

who said the grass is green
It isn't, All the colours of the spectrum are absorbed by plants and are used to make energy or different things inside the plant, Green is the only colour that plants can't absorb, so they bounce the green light back out where we see it and the plant appears green!

FACT!

I was spelling 'Nietzsche was nuts', using the first letters of each word..

"There are no facts, just interpretations", or something to that effect.

I know what you are saying guys, but 'who'... one day someones goes this is a tree... why is it a tree? why name it that... what is this particalur thing this name.... thats what i meant.... by there being no facts... but i do agree with all of your opinions!

Facts are disproved pretty much every day...at one point in time most peopel thought the world was flat...so if facts are being disproved how can you really have faith that anythign is a fact when it may turn out the fact is not really true...
