Oh Yea!! Catherine was brilliant as Donna...despite traces of sweary Gran coming through (I'm thinking of the "mate" scene)...though I'm glad her character has come a long way from what it was in "Runaway Bride". The miming through the window bit was superb.
I think we all knew that Rose was coming back but (I thought) probably in the last two or three eps. I was completely gobsmacked when she turned round after Donna talked to her and then walked off, fading away...flippin' 'eck! I have a feeling (and I'm not the only one from reading in other forums) that Rose could well be the arc for this series...don't ask me to explain how that is going to work though 🙂

Mediocre episode, ill-suited for introducing friends to the series (as I experienced).
But OMG... the Rose-thing totally blew me away! I knew she was coming back, but I never expected it this episode. The music was the same as we heard in Doomsday when her and the Doctor parted ways. It totally brought me back to that moment; one of the most emotional scenes in television imho.
BTW: When we're talking spoilers (in the thread title) you mean for upcoming UK-episodes or from episodes that have aired and that might not have reached the States (or other locales) yet?

That was pretty good. I'll tell you one I bet the Doctor Who sites don't know.
Did you notice how many times they mention parthenogenesis. At one time that was going to be the title of the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I doubt that has any significance. Just another useless fact I guess.
It means something like virgin birth. I had to look it up when I saw the titles for the future Buffy episodes back in Season 7 of BTVS. That's how I know that bit of trivia.
I was so excited for the new Doctor Who...! When it first came on and I saw the little blob-thingies my first reaction was 'wtf?' but it was such a good episode, and I literally went into a hyper frenzy when I saw Rose. I heard Rose would be in the season but I didn't think she'd been in it that quickly. Also, I'm glad Donna is the Doctor's 'assistant' now, 'cause I didn't really like Martha, but it would be better as Rose, though...
First of all can I just say 'YAY!!!', it's back! 😀 I cannot remember the last time a TV show managed to get all of my family in front of the TV at the same time...well apart from Buffy! The lads made sure they were back for before 6.20pm, and when it started Evie, who is 4yr, sat by me through the whole episode....quietly!
Such a great opening episode, and I love Donna already - I've taken to her more than Martha...but ROSE??!! Like most of you've already said, I knew she was in this season, but honestly never expected to see her in the premiere episode...what a start!
Of course I had to also watch the Doctor Who Confidential, and as expected they gave absolutely nothing away about Rose...I'm having a really hard time because it's killing me not to go in search of spoilers/theories/rumours about why & how she could be there.
The only thing that sucks is that I have to wait till next Saturday to see a new episode 'lol' 😀
I don't know much about the Rose-situation except which (if any) episode(s) she'll be in this season.
11, 12, and 13.
The BBC has released the cast list for most of the episodes, so if you wanna know if any other familiar faces are going to turn up..
Martha is in 4, 5, and 6. Episode 12 is a still a mystery, but since it's part 1 of 2, and episode 13 has Martha and Jack, I expect they might be in 12 too. Episode six is called the Doctor's Daughter; whether it's Susan's mother or aunt remains to be seen, if it even is his real daughter.
The Doctors Daughter really IS the Doctors daughter as Georgia Moffett is the daughter of Peter Moffett, better knowns as Peter Davison the 5th Doctore. Also, I have read that she plays a character that says she is the Doctors daughter AND in a recent interview, David Tennant said that episode 6 really rocks the Doctor to his core and affects him for longer than the 50 minutes. Doesn't take a genius to work out there is a connection.

I know what you mean. OK, my family live in a different part of the country but my nan, mam, dad and brother were ALL sat watching Dr Who. That is amazing.
I have been 'pro-Donna' since it was announced. I think on After-Darkness, when Donna was announced, there was alot of 'oh, nos' but I had faith. Last night I was vindicated in my belief. She was magnificent, especially in the Window scene.
I also loved her because she is SO practical. I mean I bet we ALL laughed with the bag scene, but think about it. She has prepared herself, she things about things, which the Doctor needs because he is so impulsive.
This is echoed in the 'Tell me what you need, Doctor'.
I think she could be the best ASSISTANT. Companion, I'll forever believe that's Rose, but assistant, she could be.

I loved the Adipose. It was nice that they were just these cute little baby creatures.
This was a great season opener (Allycat, I recommend Rose to be the one to get people into it, or maybe Army of Ghosts/Doomsday) and I loved everything about it.
Rose, doomsday tune and fading like the cybermen in AOG's is the crack bet both worlds a natural occurance as a result of the evil plan by the season finale villain?
She didn't look happy, I guess it is part of what she is doing, and happening, all linked as the Dr Who people have said to Donna's life story unravelling (Actually It was on Ross said by DT himself) as the arc like Bad Wolf.
Anyway I was glad he admited he treated Martha badly and made some mistakes, and ACKNOWLEDGED she had a good affect on him! I hope he repeats it to her next time he see's her.
The constant missing eachother was quite funny, and their conversation was hilarious, through the windows, then realised they were spotted.
the Big letdown was the way in which it ended, an anticlimax with the problem solved by Donna conveniently having the other pendant on her and the nanny being killed without a big whoha after the evil plan is defeated. *sigh* If only miss Foster had up a tiny plackcard that had "Help" on it before falling ala WileCyote style it would of been quite hilarious.
I like the ominous signs that follow without the two's knowlege like Rose appearing and dissappearing, which kept the eppy's strengh, otherwise it was ok, with Donna's hilarious bit handing her suitcases to the Doc which made me chuckle a lot!
It wasn't convenient - she got one just like the Doctor had gotten his.
ALSO that was a pure example of who Donna is going to be, very practical.
She won't take crap from the Doctor and will knock some sense into him.
I loved that about her.
Willow RosenbergMe too - I think she is going to be excellent for him & the show! She has something Martha & Rose didn't...not to knock either one of them. ;)
I just rewatched Partners in Crime and something occurred to me.
The Doctor - Regenerated
Rose - Trapped in another Universe
Donna - Didn't want to travel
Martha - Gave it up because of personal feelings
Astrid - Died heroically
I have a funny feeling that the end of this season will end with Donna dying a senseless death.
Think about it.
They've had someone leave at the end of all the seasons and we KNOW that Donna is only on for this season. They've done a few variations of the leaving but the one they haven't done yet is the senseless death.
Leads me to suspect Donna will die🙁
Ohhh and did anyone catch the 'Bee' comment on the roof.
Wonder what thats about😉 Maybe they'll need Poirot to solve that case🙂:lmao:
I can't get myself past Donna. I just .. eh, don't like her at all.
Martha was great. Rose was perfect. Donna is annoying.
Anyways, loved the episode, sorta. Atleast the little scene at the end with Rose was refreshing. Otherwise I wouldn't be too sure about this season. Plus next weeks episode looks cool. Can't wait 🙂

I'm warming to Donna... slowly. I'm still worried that she's going to burst into a spot of 'Am I bovvered??', but she amused me alot on saturday, so as BotD requested, I'm giving her a chance, and so far, she's not failing.
She's no Rose, but that's a good thing- if we can't have Rose, why would we want another sidekick EXACTLY like her? I like the variation in sidekicks- it keeps from things getting stale, because there's a whole new relationship to balance out and watch unfold- if it was the same relationship with every different sidekick, I for one, would get a little bored.
Also- am I the only person who wants to adopt an adipose after that episode??
Well it was obviously going to be me that gets it... this whole similarity connection thing is getting freaky... in a good way! 🙂
Ooh good point on the adult adipose front... I mean if it ends up like the blob that ate everyone, I might change my mind.
Although, I wouldn't mind the adipose dieting pills- I mean, lose a pound and gain a cute alien pet all at once- genius!
