not grinding! anyone have any remedies for grinding teeth? Usually only at work.. but my jaw is starting to really hurt and become sore from grinding.

I have a similar problem--with clenching. When I get really stressed, I'll catch myself with my back teeth clamped together so tightly my jaw hurts. My remedy is being hyper aware of it and forcing myself to unclench and stretch my jaw muscles. It doesn't look sexy, but at least I'm not clenching.

Yeah I clench my teeth too, and then my jaw locks, and then I have to hit myself in the face to fix it.... I like your solution better!

Is it wrong I find this funny and have a mental image of you just hitting yourself?
your jaw locks? good! I was thinking I was really messed up.. I am a hypochondriac and was starting to freak a bit. okay.. good. word of advice.. if you dont have a mouth guard, even though the heel end of an insole (it was new) looks like it would work, and does make an excellent fit, I would not recommend it. It lacked something. Plus a bitter aftertaste.

Oh God, I'm always grinding my teeth, I do it in my sleep too apparently, I don't even notice I'm doing it til my whole jaw and neck and head are aching.

I got it:
blend it. Make a smoothie outta everything. You'll never have to use your teeth again.

...unless you count in pronouncing a proper "th" :p
I was gonna suggest the whole mouth guard thingie, but you guys beat me to it.

Just go through the rest of your life with your mouth open, that'll solve it!

I am no help whatsoever, I do realize this.

actually i did make a diff!
Do you actually GRIND.... or just CLENCH? They are two different things.... my husband is a grinder, while I am a clencher. We both wear mouth guards at night. It really helps. You don't have to go to the dentist to get one. You can buy one at places like WalMart - in the toothpaste section, or even in the sporting goods section.

Good luck... cause this really COULD cause major problems as you grow older.

Actually I need to give credit where credit is due; and thanks go out to Blondie Bear for making it a mind over matter thing. (as only time i do it is at work) so.. been very mindful all day yesterday and would not allow my mouth to close. It seems to have worked as this morning.... I was pain free.

Granted, I did not look too bright with an always open mouth, but it worked.

you? with your mouth open all day? Surely not. Seems so unlikely.
Well, you don't have to sit there with your mouth open (I don't). Just be aware of how tightly closed your jaw is. You can relax it without opening your mouth.

Silly face. 😛

i have to.. really. if I close my mouth they immediately begin to clinch.
Where can I get a mouthguard? I grind, alot. Do I need to wear it all the time?

I never had problem with grinding, but my lil sis did. She grinded in her sleep when she was younger, now it's more or less over. But she had one of thous mouth thingeys, and if you only grind your teeth while you're sleeping, you only have to wear them when you're sleeping. That's at least what I thought.

Anyway, slightly off topic, but still related, does someone knwo something for snoring? Or am I just hopeless? 😛

1. But that sister thing has nothing to do, with you retaliating at your sister? ^^

2. Ah, snoring. That explains alot of noises I hear at night *fg* No just kidding, I don't hear anything. ^^

3. Well, you might could check yourself out at a sleep laboratory, if there is something wrong with you. Otherwise, you might want to reconsider your sleeping position or see if you always snore, or just sometimes and finally, who cares, as long as you don't waken yourself up ^^

4. There is probably some more medical advice available on the internet or from you home doctor on this, so you could always ask him.

9 3/4. Uhm, well I used to have to wear braces, I think in a way it helped with my teeth, but I never got into trouble with grinding my teeth. I would suggest maybe going to an Orthodontics. He might know something about these teeth issues. But perhaps a mouth guard will do the job.

42. The answer to everything.

**** yea! I wanted to give you Hitchhikersguidetothegalaxy karma, but you were the last one I karma-ed, so, here. Have some imaginary karma 😛

Bedankt.

Aaand goddamit I can't even karma you back ^^ Uhm. Well imagina it would drop down on you like mana from heaven. And this is not a Latin joke reference to my name 😛
