I just learned that Buffy was supposed to be the character to get Angel back on track in "You're Welcome" instead of Cordelia. But Sarah had some scheduling issues.

That really would have made things very different I think, as far as the Cangel and Bangel conversations go. Interesting.

This is what SMG knew in advance about what was going to happen in the show: “Joss has had certain episodes planned from the get-go. I knew Dawn was coming two years in advance… Willow was always supposed to go bad. Willow was supposed to go bad a year before she did, but Joss loved Tara and Willow, so that story line was pushed a year… I honestly believe his original intentions was to put Buffy and Xander together. I really do believe that.”


This a very old news, Xander was supposed to die in Chosen instead of Anya, but what's new is the episode script here:

I'm glad Xander didn't die! But I wish Bander would have happened. 🙁

As for what I found out lately... Another BB member (who I won't name here) told me that Buffy was supposed to discover that Faith hung herself in her apt after the Deputy Mayor crap. If that is real, I'm glad it didn't happen, even though I'm not the biggest Faith fan.

I was just readoing [MENTION=9740]Tome[/MENTION]'s thread on "Restless" and went to check Buffy wiki to read up on the dreams and found this:

Angel (David Boreanaz) and Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) were supposed to appear, but were written out when scheduling conflicted with Angel. Initially, Angel was written as the dream guide for the gang (a role which was eventually given to Tara) and Cordelia was one of the students insulting Willow in the classroom.

I don't think the show or the character had "earned" that at that stage. Her breakdown in Five by Five is so powerful because we had journeyed the depths of her self-hatred with her.

If she had committed suicide in Consequences her pain never would not have meant anything to the audience.

Quite the contrary. Her breakdown in Five by Five makes me angry because it took her so long to get there. If she had committed suicide in Consequences, I would have much more respect for her and it would have hit me a thousand times harder than Five by Five.

I also didn't realise that Oz's full name was Daniel Osbourne or that Anya has two last names mentioned in Buffy, Emerson and later on Jenkins. I learnt this from the top trumps cards my boyfriend bought me last week 🙂

Oh, yes - apparently Joss saw a lot of potential in Faith and "spared" her.

It's interesting that several recurring characters ultimately became big players in Jossverse. Angel was a recurring character in the first season; Spike was supposed to be killed after five episodes. As fas as I know, Wesley was also brought in to be killed in "Consequences" - but Joss liked Alexis Denisoff and decided to keep him.

Something I found out: In the episode "Conversations with Dead People", there was gonna be a storyline where The First takes the form of Jesse McNally (Xander's best friend from the first episode) and haunts Xander. This never happened and this episode became the only episode where Xander dose not appear.

I also just discovered the actor (Mark Metcalf) who plays "The Master" in Buffy is "The Maestro" from Seinfeld. That is awesome.
