Things you would change about Bangel story...

Do you ship Bangel?
If they could actually be together I would. So I'm pro Bangel, but it has been established many times that they can't. So I would just like to see them both move on instead of coming back to the same point in their lives over and over when they ask "are we absolutely sure that we can't be together?".
But I'm not shipping Spuffy either if you were wondering. I actually love them together but it's feels like a temporary thing, not THE relationship to end all relationships for Buffy.
The problem with Bangel is that it feels like THE relationship but it cannot work. That's why all the frustration and coming back to each other, wondering "what could happen if...."

Now, if they had a magic condom like Cordy and Groo had..... 😛

Wow, my entire mind recoiled reading that comment. I don't think the shows have given us any reason to be so defeatist about Buffy/Angel. If Cordy and Groo can get a magic condom and Spike can get a soul with no happiness clause, then expecting Buffy and Angel to give up on the idea of a future together is ludicrous. They could potentially fix his curse, and there's always the Shanshu prophecy. Why give up when both characters ended their shows still harboring hopes of being together, the obstacles are purely external, and neither of them has ever had another relationship that compared? I can't even fathom not wanting them to beat the odds and get what they both long for so badly.

I see your point. It's just in my head canon the comics don't exist, Angel eventually becomes human and he continues to help Buffy fight as a human. I know it's silly, but so are those damn comics lol.

Even in the comics has not been written off. The opportunity for Shanshu might still be in play. Buffy has mentioned that she still has feelings for Angel. It's not over folks !

I just can't read the comics, not after everything that has been said on the boards about them lol.

But that is good news!!

Ok I'm gonna express a very unpopular opinion on this site (and especially on that thread) but I've never really shipped Bangel and season 2 honestly annoyed me the first time I saw it. And I don't even think it's because I've never been in love or stuff like that because I can really appreciate other relationships in other movies and tv series. For instance, I just saw The Big Sick and it was heartbreaking and I was sooo into the will-they-won't-they dynamic on the film.
I guess Bangel never worked for me.
But when I say I'm pro Bangel, it's true. I would love for them both to end up with their true love (each other, apparently).

(but I still believe that their relationship is doomed)

The not being a big fan of Bangel opinion is not all that an unpopular opinion. I encourage you to go and look at the Lover's Walk section. But this section is reserved for Bangel fans, just FYI.

Evil Seal
Evil Seal
thanks I'll check it out
Here is how I could see it play out:

1. Angel comes into contact with another Mohra demon as seen in I Will Remember You.
2. He milks it for all its transformative juice.
3. He takes some of it. With no one to give him dire warnings of his actions causing Buffy's impending death, he has no reservations about it.
4. He loads paintballs with Mohra juice and gives the paintball gun to Buffy.
5. With Angel finally available with no curse following him, Buffy tosses Spike aside and marries Angel.
6. They both go out hunting for vampires with Mohra juice and instead of killing Vampires, they transform them back to human.
7. But they don't transform Spike because he could never adapt to living a normal human life.
8. Spike goes back to Drusilla.

THE END

Tiny flaw here - the vampires they transform would have no souls so all they'd end up with are soulless humans, like grown up Ryan Andersons. Basically they'd end up unleashing a bunch of unstakeable sociopaths/psychopaths on the population. 😱

So apart from the inevitable murder and terrorisation of innocents, your logic is perfectly sound, lol! 😛
