This has got to be too young, surely? 13 year old Dad

Ok well whatever you say. This thread isn't about arguing about my beliefs (I can start one though)
But we should probably get back to talking about the actual story hahah.

If you are actually serious, then you're the most shallow person I've ever known. Unbelievable.

But let's stop talking about your shallowness and get back on topic. 🙂

there is nothing wrong with being shallow.
I've seen some people mentioning sex ed, and how these kids could've been so stupid to conceive a baby although they probably had sex ed.

Well, here's my history of sex ed at school:
4th grade (age 9/10): this was more of the time 'there are certain diferences between boys and girls' and sex was only mentioned once at all, and no word about contraceptions of any type
6th grade (11/12): we only had 2 days of class left at that point for the topic, and all our teacher talked about was basically menstuation. There was also a short mentioning about conception, but nothing specific and especially nothing about contraception
9th grade (14/15, which, in this time, is probably too late anyway): that one was only about STDs mainly AIDS ('m not saying this was not important, but, well, there are in fact other dangers to sex as well). For the purpose of STDs we were also introduced to conomds, but our teacher who tried to demonstrate to us how to use them on this model-thingy didn#t even manage to do it properly herself. And there was no handig out of condoms of any time.

So, if those kids had sex ed anything like me, it's sort of a bit more understandle as to why the whole thing happened.

You also need to ask the question of who is responsible for Sex Ed....the school or the parents? Personally I don't believe the onus should be on the education authority to cover something like this.

Agreed. From what the father said, it seemed like he hadn't even considered it until now. By thirteen. In that environment.

I think it's all soo wrong!! I mean my brother is thirteen and it's just wrong....i mean a urgh no sorry i can't say anymore.

It is no big secret that children are having sex younger and younger, there was a report on the news this evening saying that the UK has the highest underage pregnancy rate in the UK.

I'm not saying that the schools should not give sex ed but it should not fall solely on then because after all isn't it part of being a parent? Our sex ed was by nunds (Catholic School) and they didn't even teach about condoms but that is a whole other thread.

But wouldn't it be good if they covered it for everyone at school relatively early.
I think my parents were never really eager to talk about sex with us in any way. (I think they are probably way too prude...when I was 18 and moved out they gave me condoms and even then my Mom so kept avoiding the topic, it was actually quite funny.)
I'm a smart girl, I figured out what precautions to take when having sex myself in time before I actually had sex, but apparently not all kids/teenagers seem to be able to do that.
You can't really force all the parents to talk to their kids about sex, but you can make sure that every school provides good sex ed.

That is beyond scary, He doesn't look old enough to have started puberty!

He'll be celebrating his 21st as his kid will be 8, being 21 that is petrifying!

Interesting the story to make is seem like the kids are really responsible, if the genders were reversed do you think it would be written the same way, like if the boy was 15 and the girl was 13 the story would be so different!

Yeah that's what I was saying to my aunt. If it was the other way around everyone would be like "ew what a creepy little pedophile to be that 15 year old guy is!" hahaha

This is partly to do with the different ages at which boys and girls mature, though. Boys become sexually mature at an earlier age than girls, so the playing field in that example isn't as level.

Edit: Although, it is kind of a fair point what with the guy looking the way he does. It's a very strange situation.

This is so a whole other thread and I could ramble on forever about it. But what is and what should be the schools resonsibility? "You can´t force parents to talk about it"? Maybe not (my parents certainly didn´t have that conversation with me) but what can you force them to do? The schools are gonna be responsible for everything that we can´t force the parents to do? I´m not sayin sex-ed shouldn´t be had in schools but if things go "wrong" the blame is on the school? Seems to be a more common attitude nowdays let me tell you.

Yep. that's why I said pedophile TO BE.

read.

Still doesn't make a bit of sense.

The definition of pedophile:

An adult who is sexually attracted to young children.

All children are attracted to other children. Most people grow out of it, but the very concept of calling someone a pedophile to be doesn't make sense.

Think.

Once again, that's why I said TO BE.
like he will be when he's an adult because he's going for younger girls.
I personally don't think that but I know a lot of people who would.

It really doesn't even matter, because that's just a scenario but like for reals
you don't need to like pick everything apart. It's uber lame.

the guy is younger though, your argument makes no sense

You're taking the subject off topic again, with another post that makes absolutely no sense. Well done. 😉

but it looks like I'm not the one who went of subject this time now am I?
Granted, my kids aren't 12 or 13, my son is only 9. But he has shown NO interest in girls, in fact, he claims he's allergic to them and ONLY seems to care about playing Pokemon on his Nintendo.
He makes horrible sounds at people kissing on TV.

Needless to say, although he knows a TINY bit about growing up, getting married, having babies.....we've never discussed birth control or safe sex with him.
It hasn't seemed to be an issue.

Now on the other hand, he's also not "missing" for any amounts of time that he COULD get someone pregnant. He's supervised as much as he was when he was 4, basically, other than we don't put up gates on the stairs when we go to bed.

Still, this is just SHOCKING!

But the very idea of a pedophile TO BE doesn't make sense. Were you attracted to other 12 year olds when you were 12? Does that mean you will be at 25? Just because "he" (a non-point since this article was about an older girl) is attracted to a girl a couple years younger than him does not mean he will grow up to be attracted to someone that age. The entire concept of a pedophile to be is stupid.

but people WOULD think that. I wouldn't but that's what people would call it. People would call him sick.
