Thoughts on Cordy becoming part demon/higher being

But still that confuses me, Doyle was half demon and the visions still caused him pain(a bad headache) and when Cordy turned half demon how come they didnot cause her any pain whatso ever? Do you think it all depends on what type of demon they are?

Yes. My theory on Cordy becoming part demon/higherbeing is really simple. Skip was Cordy's spirital guide. He also worked for Jasmine. Cordy was given a choice from the Powers that Be: Give up the visions and live the life you once dreamed of or slip into a coma and die from the visions when they blow the back of your head out. There was no other choice.

But what about the choice Skip offered Cordy, the choice to become part demon? That choice wasn't part of the Powers that Be's plan. Skip wanted to allow Jasmine entry to the world. A humanbeing was never supposed to have visions and the Powers interviened on Cordy's behalf to prevent her death. Skip essentially took over their intervention by offering Cordy another option after she made her choice. She could become part demon. I think that Cordy had to agree willingly to have Jasmine in her body. Skip tricked her into doing so.

The reason that Cordy no longer felt pain with her visions and began to act uncharacteristicly after becoming "part demon" is that she had Jasmine inside of her. Normal part-demons hurt when they have the visions. Cordy didn't hurt any longer. It is a more concise and satisfactory explination that Jasmine entered Cordy when she met Skip than when she is taken to be a higher power. Skip also intervines to take Cordy to a higher plane. Maybe she has to be there for Jasmine to arrise?

Notice that when she was a higher being Cordy glowed the same way Jasmine glowed when she was born. She also glowed while cleansing Connor and when driving the "slugg-watersucking-creatures" off.

The best evidence for the demon being Jasmine is that after Jasmine is born Cory slips into a coma just like Skip said she would before she was infused with "demon essence". In other words, Cordy returns to the same state she was in previously after the "demon/power that was" leaves her. don't read the spoiler if you haven't seen You're Welcome trust me
In the episode Your're Welcome Cordy comes to Angel to say goodbye after she is dead. Cordy died after having a vision in the hospital, which she comes to tell Angel about. This is even better evidence that Cordy's body returned to it's original state after Jasmine's birth. Essentially the visions killed Cordy

You make a exceleent point but what about what angel told the gang in "Not Fade Away"
When he told them that Cordy had given him the visions after they kissed in Your Welcome. Why did he get the visions if they were going to make him insane?

Cordy was imbued with Jasmine while she was on the higher plane. She needed to be up there in order to receive Jasmine. She was still Cordy until she came down from the higher plane in season 4.

How do you know she didn't have Jasmine in her earlier?

What was her demon if it wasn't Jasmine?

I think she need to go to the higher plane to allow Jasmine to emerge, but already had Jasmine in her.

Why? First Skip who later admitted to working for Jasmine was her spirt guide. He offered her the initial choice as well as taking her to the higher plane. Secondly, and more tellingly the nature of the demonic essence inside Cordy points to a present although unaware Jasmine.

Cordy glowed the same way Jasmine later glowed after becoming part demon. She felt no pain at all from the visions, which means that whatever was in her was very powerful. She was also able to cleanse Connor and drive the water-sucking squid monsters from the hotel. These are not the actions of an ordinary part-demon person. Clearly whatever was in Cordy was frightenly powerful, and since the least complex explanation is that it was Jasmine and not some other force I am inclined to go with Jasmine.

Also, Cordy eventually died after Jasmine was born. When she was knocked out of her body, Skip told her that she would slip into a coma and die when she had the next vision if she stayed human. That is exactly what happened.

If Cordy still had demon essence in her why would she die after having a vision? Remember that Whedon & co. like arching storylines so its quite probable that an earlier episode holds the key to what happened to Cordy.

I never really saw Power Play.

yeah she did because
when angel was telling the story about why he needed to destroy the black thorn and all, he tole them that he woke up from having a vision. and he states that cordy passsed the visions on to him.

They never discussed what kind of demon Cordy had partly become. It is quite possible that this type of demon was better suited to handle the visions than Doyle was.

Also, Cordy died when Jasmine was born because she gave birth to a woman who was bigger than she was and the birth, however mystical was the cause of her death.

What vision did Cordy have that killed her? 😕

OK-1st thing-Cordelia did not pass the visions on to Angel. What she gave to Angel was ONE vision-a one shot deal to set him along on his path.

2nd thing-If Cordy died from giving birth to Jasmine, she would have died a year ago. She died in Season 5 in the episode, Your Welcome, because she had the vision of Angel in danger that she had in the beginning of the episode. The only reason she stayed around as long as she did was so the PTB could pass that final vision along to Angel.

My bad on the Cordy died during Jasmine thing...I forgot about Season 5 for a second...

We should do a poll on when people believe Cordy was imbued with Jasmine...

I think the episode was excellent. And I think that Cordy becoming part demon was a good thing. Becaues it showed her character evolving. And it showed how much mature she had grown over the years aswell. Because she could have kept her dream life, of being a successful actress like she wanted. But instead she became part demon in order to free Angel from his pain. Even though it ment she might get a tail, or some other demon part. And plus, I didn't want to see Cordy die so soon, just becaues of her visions. I would've been so mad ::rm:: And later on it gave her a chance to become a higher being. Which showed us her character evolving to something greater then we would have ever imagined of Cordy.
