Thoughts on Season 4

Personally i didn't really like season 4, thought it got a bit Dawsons Creek for my liking. Especially at the begining.
It wasn't really very interesting, (my disliking for Riley has nothing to do with it!) I just thought Adam was good potential for a really nasty boss, but they didn't really put him in the story lines much.
So, thats what i think of Season 4, what do you all think? Like whats your favourite eps and the episode you hate more than anything.

I thought Season Four was pretty good, although there were a few less than great episodes (Where the Wild Things Are in particular.), and the introduction of my second least-favorite character, Riley. On the other hand, though, there were a bunch of great episodes; Hush, New Moon Rising, and Restless come to mind.

Same here.
I didn't hate season 4 but it is probably my least favorite. I didn't care for Riley with his "Captain America" thing going on. I liked the idea of Buffy bascially facing the first "man" in the mutant Adam, but I didn't really find him very convincing as a Big Bad. That was probably because the actor wasn't very convincing to me though.

However, this was the season that started the Tara and Willow relationship and I have to give it credit for that. And like AustinA123 mentioned, the season did include one of my favorite episodes of the series "Restless".

At first I thought it was kinda of odd that Whedon and Co would do a dream episode to conclude a season, thought it was because they ran out of ideas. How very wrong I was. The whole episode tells you a lot about what is to come in the series. Tara telling Buffy "to be back before Dawn." Hinting at Dawn coming to the series. Xander and Anyas failed engagement when Xander says "Thats not that way out" when his parents are fighting. Xander, Willow and Buffys search for self. Buffy denying/ignoring that she has a darkness in her, when she tells the first slayer that "You are going to go away and I'm going to ignore you". The list goes on I'm sure.

Willows dream was my favorite. The very womb like red curtains of Taras room and the threater was cool. Her fear that everyone thought she was putting on a act both as a lesbian and her new look made me sad because I know how that goes. And of course a have naked Tara was an added bonus. :biggrin:.
 
Yeah Restless was an amazing episode.'CHEESE!' I just thought that Season 4 wasn't as good as the other series, and yeah there were episodes that were rubbish and had no purpose. But there were episode that were brill, but i think Riley ruined it and so did Adam.

Great season wish i could erase my mind and watch it all again cos they'e where so many cool moments.

By season 5 Spike had become overused and they where running out of ideas.

You were'nt meant to like Riley.
 
Something Blue is pretty amusing. And Pangs and Restless are a couple of my favorite episodes, but I agree the whole Initiative storyline was pretty weak. Riley was just boring as all hell.
 
Overall, I always call this season the 'comedy season'. There are some amazingly funny episodes in season 4 but I wouldn't say this is a season I would want to use to promote BtVS to someone new.
I hate the initiative, I hate Adam and I HATE Riley but other than that it's a good season 😛
 
Its easily one of my favorite seasons, the lack of main arc never bothered me, plus i thought the Initiative was ok, i even dont hate Riley(that much).
Spike and Giles were also great in s4, so was Faiths comeback.
There were just Too many amazing episodes, more than most seasons, Who are you, Hush, Fear itself, something blue and Restless(for example) are as good as anything in the whole series.
 
It's funny, when I think of this season as a whole, I'm like, "Meh, Adam, not that great." But then when I think about the episodes individually, I'm like, "That's one of my favorite seasons." lol

I know what you mean. I love a lot of episodes from season four also.

That's actually so true. And when you think about it, Adam isn't nearly as prominent throughout as most other big-bads. He doesn't even make it to the end of the season!
 
Funnily enough, Season 4 is my least favourite season but it has some of the best episodes (aswell as the worst - Beer Bad and the one where Buffy and Riley have sex all the time come to mind). Fear Itself, Hush, New Moon Rising, This Year's Girl, Who Are You, Restless and Wild At Heart are some of my favourite episodes. But yeah, Riley, Adam and the Initiative - eurgh.
 
I agree with most of what has already been said-- weakest season, probably, but with some really good individual episodes. 🙂
 
I love season 4 its one of my favourite seasons. i love the fact that it shows us the characters maturing and getting older, showing them change. I like it.
 
Although I don't really like Season 4 overall, I LOVE a lot of the episodes. My favorite episode in the whole show was Restless, and I love Seeing Blue, Who Are You, and Superstar. So, I suppose it was OK, but Buffy and Riley? Umm, no. 😀
 
It was ok. For mu full of the new things. Angel was gonne, so there is a big fat minus, and Oz was gonne, another minus. I never liked Tara and Willow, but I never had anything against them, just I liked her with Oz more. Riley was ok, intersting new guy in the begining, it had some good episodes like Hish, Fear, Itself and Something Blue (I admit it was funny, but Buffy and Spike kissing-yuck for me). It wasn't worst, Buffy was happy, and that was the begining for Xander and Anya 🙂 so plus there 🙂 but it has one of the worst seasons finale, I really didn't like it, because season finale for first 3 seasons were so good, so I was little disapointed.

I'm sorry, but how can you hate Restless. It's so good.
I just realized lately how much I love it. It was one of my least favorite seasons. But turns out, I watch it the most in this past 3 months. I love Hush that I would get married with it. And This Year's Girl/Who Are You? are just awesome. Plus, I love Riley. 😉

after Who are you, Five by Five and Sanctuary are obligatory eps, then I resume BtVS
I never really understood the indifference towards season four. Okay, the season arc may not be the strongest, but some of the show's best ever episodes are there. Any year of television that features Hush, Something Blue, Restless or Who's That Girl has something good going for it if you ask me.
