Ooh, I think I have some!

- People who suggests/requests changes/to add something to the boards and think that they will get their way because they don't get a definite NO.
- People who sign up just to promote their petition/podcast/BtVS-related issue etc
- People who have obviously signed up with another alias to support their a) change/suggestion b) petition/podcast/BtVS-related issue etc

I think if I were a mod, what would really annoy me would be these two things -

People constantly sucking up to me

People PMing me just to alert me to something that they considered naughty

My friends thinking they could get away with things because they're my friend, you know?

But, as a moderator, it would be awesome if when I've been asked to deal with something and I do, I don't get a member giving me a hard time for that, just accepting what I've had to say to them and dealing with it. Although I think someone said something about attitude on the other page!

To expand a little bit on Alexa's peeve, when the person obviously realized that there's another thread on it cause they POSTED something like "Oh, oops, there's a thread on this already" and it's not an edit, so they could have just CANCELLED their post instead of being a dummy.

I used to be an administrator in this huge German chatroom (it's knuddels, really famous in German-speaking countries, 3,1 million users til February 2007 (so probably a lot more by now), even has it's own article on wikipedia (Knuddels - Wikipedia)) and what just really got me so annoyed was when people came to me with problems they could've solved themselves, or even worse, if they went to a channel moderator first who could've solved the problem but he/she was too lazy for it. Also, the site has a huge problems with all kinds of faking to get other people's passwords. We all warned users frequently, but still they were too stupid to realize they should NEVER give their password to anybody else. So after some time we reacher a point where we couldn't give people their nicknames back anymore because we just had way too many password cases.
Another thing really going on my nerves was all these cool kids writing their qAnqStA German. That alone was not bad enough, no, some even had the grammar to match just to ensure no remotely educated human being could understand any of it. The sad thing is, some of these kids even used this way of writing in tests at school.
There's a lot more that annoyed me while I ws administrator, but I think you get the pictures. In December I stopped being administrator and was tired of this stupid chatroom in general, so I don't go there anymore.

Okay, now you might wonder why I wrote all of this. The reason is I think mods here are annoyed by similar things, so we have
-people not solving their problems themselves if it would've been so easy for them to do so
-people too stupid to take care of their password and then complaining if anyone did something bad with their nick
-people not capable of writing normal language

I cannot stand all CAPS and bad spelling. Maybe it's because I won the spelling bee in 3rd grade ( my only claim to fame), but I don't get how you can just type without worrying how others will be able to read your posts. It drives you nuts!

1. People who sign up and tell you how crappy and inactive the boards are yet they never go away.
2. People who get a warning and then say, "Well Joe Shmoe is doing this. Why aren't you PM'ing them too?"
3. People who can't carry a discussion without making it personal.
4. People who ask to be a mod.
5. People who post threads in the wrong forum. Like a Xander quote thread in the Anya forum.
6. Members who are banned then come back denying they were ever that other member.
7. People who don't include capital letters and punctuation marks in their posts.
8. People who think that just because you are friendly, you won't open up a can of mod whoop ass on them.

People who disrespect the whole reason for the board.

Lets be honest the only reason we ALL join this site is a love of things made by Whedon.

When we deviate from that, then I would assume that just aggravates the MODs because it detracts from the purpose of this board.


Ohh and I assume it will also annoy ALL the MODs that they don't look as good as Visionguy - well at least that is what he told me in an email recently.

I don't know about mods, but it annoys ME when people act like their opinion of something is FACT and treat you like you're an idiot child if you don't agree with them.

Hmmm, well one that comes to mind would be when people use wrong formatting for the "quotes" add-on.... in several quotes 🙂blush: I owe Buffy Summers some serious karma for that one!).

Others that I'd imagine would get annoying after a while....

When people repeatedly argue with you over rules of the board.... despite the fact that you're a mod 😉

Members whose posts you have to edit every other day

When people PM you/post in the AI forums with a question that's easily answered by the latest News Post

People who start a threat to ask when an actor was born/lives now/is up to now instead of just going to IMDB/Wikipedia/Google? That at least, annoys me.

Honestly people who use Kool talk and caps lock way to much not to mention when the poster has nothing past a first grader's spelling skills.

You hit my biggest peeve on the head. Those I worked with can vouch for the hours I used to spend editing posts and pming not to mention ranting and raving.

There is just no need for it. In a text message I understand it, you have limited space, but it does not take long to type a paragraph or even a few lines.

Not to mention those people who write it caps, or even start sentences without capital letters!

Err I have a few that I can think of that annoy me and I'm not a mod!

1. People signing up for more than one account, and then having a hissy fit because they are found out.

2. People been banned and then coming back with a similar name and thinking the mods and buffy are mean for finding them out!

3. Double posts... I know sometimes you can't help it because the edit feature has gone but you could always wait!

4. People arguing with the mods about a decision they've made, e.g. closing a thread or deleting a post!

5. Kewl/text. It annoys me in texts, msn and on discussion boards! For gods sake just write properley how hard is it!!!

6. Bad grammar and spelling, some people are just so lazy.

All kidding aside, surely these people asking to be mods haven't spent much time here, right?
Sure, the idea of creating my own Avatar is a little intriguing, but it didn't take long to see that the Mods do a LOT of work. (Perhaps more work than I thought of before considering the board isn't FLOODED with spam and "kewl" text)

I can't say I would turn the job down....on the other hand, I couldn't handle it now. And when and if one of the "PTB" ever deemed me fit, by that time, maybe I could.

I keep wondering if it's too late to get adopted. I don't know if I need it because I don't know how much of the fun I'm missing doing things the way I am. But, I find myself wanting to adopt others, but I'm afraid to even do THAT considering I don't know if I'm doing it "right".
Heck, I STILL post in my posts in the wrong spots. Luckily, I seem to even stump the mods sometimes and even they don't know where to move them to. So, I guess it's not too bad to be confused if I can stump the "big dogs" in the process.
