Tru Not Looking at Bright Future

I thought ratings were based on how many ppl are actually tuned into that channel. That's what it's like here anyway. We don't have any boxes or anything, but when we buy the tv/radio license thing you're registrered and the tvstation can tell how many are watching. Well atleast I think that's how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong... that's just how I thought it worked...
That other thing sucks...

I'm not really sure... I just know that there is the share of users and then the total... I'm still not really sure how ratings work exactly... If anyone knows, could you explain the share and the collection methods. Thanks everyone! 😀

It's different here because we don't have the license system. Rating are based on the 5000 homes with Nielsen boxes (which will be expanding to 10000 at some point).

I will put my 2 cents in since I know how it is my family used to be a nielson rating family

What you do is every time you watch something you punch into this box they give you and that goes for everything you tape as well so if there is only one tv and you and your family want to watch different things and you tape one you can count that one as well

But I know how you feel and there is one more way you can help start a writing campaign to let them know who all loves that show. I know of several shows that were saved from cancelation because of the letters from fans.

START IT NOW! That way they have time to get the letters before they decide to cancel it or not

Does anyone have the mailing address of the show's producers or who they need to contact that would be in charge of canceling the show and would they post it here so all can start writing into the show

I know for a fact how this works: Party of Five was about to be canceled when it first aired and people wrote in they wrote into fox and TV guide and TV guide named it the best show people aren't watching and that show of support got fox to keep it going and it got more viewers from the TV guide interview and became a hit

IT WORKS!!! : rotate : 😀

I got this from another post 😀

can anyone confirm that this is the address?

Roswell almost got cancelled first season, and after people wrote in it was confirmed for a second season.

Roswell almost got cancelled for a second season, and after people wrote in it was confirmed for a third season.

Roswell got cancelled in its third season. It ended in episode 3x18, "Graduation."

I have Roswell season one now on DVD. Something went right, eh?

ALSO many shows are finding success on DVD.. and convincing networks to bring them back.

Family guy was cancelled, but it has been almost constantly a top seller. It has also gotten a fanbase thanks to Cartoon Network who airs it everyweeknight. I, myself, found out about Family Guy through Cartoon Network and purchased the DVD.

Family Guy is now being brought back for the fall 2005 season.

See what I mean it really does work so we need to start writing letters now 🙂

Thanks for that example 🙂

Yes, that's the correct address for Gail Berman.

I'm in contact with the producers. They're supporting our efforts to save the show.

Visit SupportTruCalling.com for the lastest news and efforts to save TC.

Right now things look rather good. The producers are very positive they will be renewed, despite the low ratings.

What should I write in my letter? I know not to sound rude or anything like that but other than that?

just write about how much u like it and why and um.. how much it would suck if it wouldn't get a 2nd season. i don't know i guess anything else u would want to add

Great Thanks a lot 🙂 if enough people write in I am sure we can get them a second season 🙂

I think FOX would be stupid if they cancelled the show. Shows like this gain cult like followings, and TC will as well, if given the proper time.

Yes, they can bring shows back. Fox's Family Guy sold 500,000 copies on dvd this year, and fox admitted a mistake in cancelling it prematurely. They're supposedly bringing it back in 2005!
THe only problem is, once a show is cancelled, the actors may go on to different things, they may et in a movie, or a new show, or whatever. Then it's really hard to get everyone together again to continue the show. Better to keep everyone on the payroll than have to pick up the pieces later, so everyone, write letters!

Thats a good point. Family Guy is slightly different because its a cartoon, they could just get someone else to voice characters if the original is unable. Although it wouldn't be the same.

I agree that the episodes are getting a lot better and we can definetely see better ratings, hopefully in the near future. I think so far we've gone from not predictable to predictable and hopefully soon it will go back to not predictable. Just my opinion though.

okay

okay, but that really wasn't my point at all. My point was, if you read the whole thing, that the things people do affect the shows. The viewers of Roswell saved it twice giving it three seasons, which is amazing. It was a great show even though the third season blew like a bullimic. And my point is also that Family Guy was saved due to the fans of the show. : mad3 :
