Tru Vs Faith

Tru's charrie

I Think Tru's Gonna be Different to Faith In some aspects.

I really hope they keep the sarcasm that faith had and a lil of the attitude But i think it's Cool if Eliza Plays Tru differently 🙂

Thanx Guyz

Faith. I couldn't disagree more

I think Eliza made a wonderful decision. She didn't want to start a spin off right after Buffy ended, so people wouldn't give it one look, and compare it to Buffy.

Unfortunately, it seems the Faith fans are doing that anyway. I feel sorry for Eliza. I don't think she could win with the fans, either way.

I love the premise of Tru Calling. I probably would have checked it out, no matter who was in it. Lucky for me, Eliza is the star. 🙂

As for her decisions lately??
Wrong Turn made over a million dollars over it's production costs, BEFORE it went to other countries, second run theaters, rentals, and to video. Fox will be MORE than happy with it's performance. Horror films DO NOT make $100 million dollars in the theaters. Ever.

City by the Sea was a wonderful film for her to show off her talents.

I know that Fox is not patient with genre shows, but with Friends ending, grabbing viewers the year before it ends...is smart. Maybe Fox has gotten a clue.

Wrong Turn hasn't made back it's production costs yet. Fox doesn't receive all of the box office gross. A good percentage goes to the theaters. Plus there was about $8 M in marketing costs and at least $5 M for prints. Wrong Turn would have to have made at least $25M to be profitable just on US box office results alone. Fox is probably very disappointed, since most similar films make at least that.

Wrong Turn's Trailer was pulled from TV audiences, AND movie theaters. If they spent $8 Million on Marketing...They got ripped off!!!

Wrong Turn's biggest problem was the lack of promotion,( due to the trailer being pulled), and coming out with Matrix 2, X-Men 2, and Finding Nemo.

Wrong Turn wasn't scheduled to come out until October. They pushed it up, most likely to be able to release the DVD by Halloween.

Take it as you will...with a horror / slasher movie with no big name actors, I don't think Fox's expectations were extremely high.

I don't think i have chekced it out if eliza wasn't in it... well not as soon as i do now.... 😀

I would love it if Tru was like Faith, but I dont think she will be...this doesnt seem like a badass show

I agree with TaintedFaith. I hope Tru has the same attitude as Faith. I loved Faith's sarcasm.

Originally TC was scheduled to come out in September the week before Underworld, which would have kicked its butt. The film is awesome, according to friends at Sony. So there would have been competion whenever it was released. Maybe moreso in summer, but with a summer release it has the potential to make more money since there's more people seeing movies then. It was a huge gamble to put it out then, and it had to be supported by marketing. It could have been a sleeper hit. The New Guy last year made decent money just being an alternative to all the other teen movies out there.

I don't want to get into all the WT trailer and marketing costs stuff, but making trailers ain't cheap. Those editors, finishers and mixers make huge bucks. Every time Fox changed the WT trailer (that never made it to theaters) for the MPAA, it cost huge bucks. There were some spots airing during prime time, which ain't cheap either. Nowadays, marketing any film cost about $15M, so Fox did get off rather cheaply with WT.

IMO, the problem with the lack of marketing was that Fox's marketing department was over worked with all the other films coming out (Down With Love, X-Men, Bend Like Beckham, League, ect) and Wrong Turn became an after thought when it wasn't testing well. Last year, the same thing nearly happened with the New Guy, but it was testing well so Sony/Columbia decided to some money on the campaign - about $20M in marketing was spent on the New Guy, more than it cost to make the film. Sony did the same for Darkness Falls, about $25M.

Trying to get somewhat back on topic, I'm worried about Tru Calling's lack of marketing so far, but I'll hold off complaining for a few more weeks. But maybe if I start whining now I'll jinx myself and Fox will start putting on ads tonight.

Well, advertisment is obviously the problem here. Heck, just adverstise, maybe it will slightly get better. But FOX is being a tight pocket now. They always get me nervous *sighs*.

faith, tru hopefully share some similarities

Personally I hope Eliza retains a bit of her faithness. Faith was crazyed, cool, and sexy. She was the anti slayer! but no one else could have played that part and grown such a fan base. Dont push faith away eliza, she was a big break for u!

I think that we have seen enough of Tru that we know that she isn't like Faith, and I find that to be a good thing because the one of the major reason that Eliza is doing the show is to expand on her horizons as far as I can tell. She's doing awesome. I love Tru Calling... and just like Birds... I think I will be crushed if they cancel it...

even if she isnt at all like faith i still love her character. She wanted to do something different and she got to play a great character on a great show!

I would be crushed too. If they canceled it. Tru Calling is a great show and She plays her role so well. That's what makes the show so great and her a great actress.
