Trump - the Republican candidate

I don't know what's worse: Having Trump/Clinton as president or the possibility that Kayne West might be running for president in 2020.

Well once in a WCW storyline Hulk Hogan claimed that he was retiring from wrestling to run for president now who wouldn't want to see that!😛

I don't buy that he's a nice guy anyway, you can't really have the beliefs he does and be a nice guy in my book, and if he is just saying those things to get a reaction well that kind of makes it worse.

Are you talking about Obama or Trump?

GwenRaiden: Most politicians are. Even the "good guys".

Yes, but this guy takes it to a whole new level. Making downright bad decisions, abusing his power, etc. Caring more about being the guest on talk shows than doing his job. It's all about him - not about the country.

GwenRaiden: I'm not conservative in the slightest but I can't stand Obama. I'd rather have a Republican being honest about who they are than a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Amen. He fooled a lot of people in the beginning, including me.

Chicago politician. People mentioned it before the election how on the north part of the state he would say one thing, the south part another, but he was a media darling so all the negative was drowned out.

I think to be fair to Obama part of his struggle has been because the system makes it so hard for a lot of policies to get passed out right, and then if they do sometimes it takes years for them to take effect. I'd say he's had mixed reign but then you would know better than me. You not a fan of his health care plan? That does divide people from what I gather.

Well, a fair part of the blame goes to congress-critters who think it's okay to take bribes, take tax money, and then refuse to do their jobs.

And saying Trump is an unknown quality would be a bit like calling Nigel Frague an unknown quality

Not really because Nigel is the leader of a right wing party- for many years now- but Trump has been linked with BOTH main parties in the US.
That's right, Trump has campaigned as a Democrat in the past

He ran for some political office I'm sure- at least in those early stages.

The point I guess is the guy hasn't been that Republican in the past- on social issues, big government- he's more left of centre.

I only remember him trying for the Reform a long time ago and then supporting (I think) it was Romney. Contributing to democrats is not the same as campaigning as one, especially as a business owner.

EDIT: Sadly most of the Republicans are now either center or left of...

He donated to the Dems until 2008 - and in 2004 he told CNN in 2004 that he identified as a Democrat. That was back when he was pro-choice, etc. The problem with Trump is that everything he does is for a purpose. It's impossible to say what Trump you'll see on any given day.

He promised to calm down and unify the party, and two days later he was attacking various Republicans all over the board.

Thats not surprising considering the majority of big business leans democrat and small leans republican.

In other words he does things just to draw a shocking reaction from people, and to make himself standout more. That is partly why I used the Frange comparesion.

Donald J. Trump has attracted enormous attention for his proposal to temporarily bar Muslims from entering the United States. But on Monday he said he was “happy” that London had elected its first Muslim mayor and suggested that the new official would be among the exceptions to his proposal.

“There will always be exceptions,” Mr. Trump said when asked in an interview on Monday how his proposed ban would affect London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan.

Khan, the capital’s first Muslim mayor, said the call by the presumptive Republican nominee for president for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US was something that directly affected those closest to him, and said making an exception for him was not the answer.

“This isn’t just about me – it’s about my friends, my family and everyone who comes from a background similar to mine, anywhere in the world,” Khan said.

“Donald Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe – it risks alienating mainstream Muslims around the world and plays into the hands of the extremists. Donald Trump and those around him think that western liberal values are incompatible with mainstream Islam – London has proved him wrong.”

So not a complete ban then!

I'm actually appalled at the media-fueled assassination of Trump's character. No, he's not my favourite person in the world, but I enjoy his "don't give a crap" attitude. He doesn't have to pander to the Hollywood set, nor anyone else for that matter. He has his own money, which is refreshing.

So many people are practically frothing at the mouth because of him. It's hilarious.

I think he's just giving the finger to all of his detractors. Which is awesome AF.

I've always been drawn to people who don't try to please everyone. 😀
