UFOs and extraterrestrials

Mr Giles agrees: seriously, being religious has zero to do with aliens.

I'm not religious at all, and I don't really understand why people who are religious react badly to the idea of aliens, but they do regardless of whether aliens really have anything to do with religion.

Mr Giles I wasn't implying that you are religious. 😛 😉

soz (how do you do that pink face with tongue out?)
By the way, i have no problem with people believing in Aliens. I myself am just unsure of them. For me, the chances are aliens do exist.

UFOs are Unidentified Flying Objects, which do in fact exist. It may not be alien spacecraft, but the fact that it's unidentifiable makes it a UFO. 😉

I personally believe in extra-terrestrials. I mean come on, space has no end to it, Earth can't be the only planet in the entire never-ending universe with life on it. I think it makes a lot of sense. All these mysterious crashes (like Roswell) that the government has hidden. All these unexplained UFOs in the sky. And if we have the technology to visit other planets, then so could these extra-terrestrials. 🙂

But that's just my opinion, and I don't try to convince people that aliens exist because my belief may be wrong, maybe there isn't such a thing. Which is also the reason why I struggle with religion.

I think it would be egocentric of the human kind to say that there are no aliens out there.

That being said, I do believe in aliens - whatever form they may take (and I'm not talking about little green men with big black eyes...) - but I don't believe they ever visited us (if they are able to travel) since the start of human kind. Why? Because I don't understand why they would have visited us and never came back in a way that would leave us no other choice but believe.

Also, people that 'see' UFO's or ghosts! You gotta take that with a pinch of salt. If i said i just saw a ufo, would you believe me?

If someone I know and trust were to tell me they saw a ghost...then yes, I'd believe them. I'm not sure about a UFO because...how do they know what one looks like haha

I do have a pretty strong feeling that there is life out there, somewhere. I really can't believe anything without proof though.

Well if I threw my shoe at you and no one knew what it was, it'd be a UFO. So if someone sees something flying and don't know what it is, then they've seen a UFO. :p
I actually don't really believe that there are extra terrestrials simply because I just don't see enough evidence for them. Now, I freely admit I could be very wrong. I just personally feel that all these "accounts" or ancient evidence can be too easily explained away to convince me yet. If there is life on other planets, I would assume that it is a very small form like germs etc. I'm not saying I'm right as I have absolutely no way of knowing, I'm just saying none of the "evidence" has convinced me yet.

I'm watching Ancient Aliens S04 episode 1. I just had a very enthusiatic man explain to me what rubble is.... 😕

I believe there's something else out there, I just don't necessarily believe in the UFO sightings and whatnot we often hear about. I dunno maybe they're real, maybe not, but I think if aliens were sending stuff our way they wouldn't be so subtle about it. Like if they were coming to us I think we'd know about it. But I do believe there must be other life out there in the universe. I find it hard to believe that in this absolutely mind-blowingly large universe out there that we are the sole living inhabitants. That's just too farfetched for me. I think there's other life out there but it may not necessarily be like us. Even if it's just fish in an alien pond, I think it's out there.

I don't believe in the idea that stuff can't exist because there's no oxygen either. I don't for a second think we've seen every single type of element/gas/whatever out there and I imagine if a creature were to evolve on a planet devoid of oxygen it might just function in another way than what we do is all.

I don't think it's anything we'll ever see in our lifetime but I just don't think we can be the only ones out there in that huge universe. And if we are, how lonely is that?

Maybe it takes a mind blowing large universe for just our life to exist?

I agree with you these. Also sometimes I wonder if we're here because we need oxygen, or if we need oxygen because it was already here.

Do you believe we're alone in the universe?
I'm pretty sure that we're not alone in the universe. The universe is infinitely large, since it's still getting bigger and bigger.
The likelihood of us being alone is approximately 0.

Do you believe extraterrestrials are visiting our planet?
I don't believe that extraterrestrials are visiting our planet. The planets of our galaxy probably have some forms of life on them, but probably in the form of bacteria etc.
And since the laws of physics apply to the whole universe there's almost no way that intelligent life forms from other planets could travel to earth, because it's simply too far and would take thousands of years.

Big universe does not mean the likelihood is approximately 0. Thats based on nothing comparable.
I am very interested in UFO stuff. I don't think they are allready on earth but I can't believe that we are the only life in the hole universe. I am a very down to earth living guy, I search for science-explanations if there is something mysterious. But I love this mysterious things. I hope one day they'll find something supernatural! 🙂

It's true what you're saying. But couldn't there be a civilization somewhere that is so advanced, like millions of years ahead of us, they've been exist so many years longer than us, that they have developed that thechnology? I mean, thousands of years ago we didn't have the technology we have today. And because we invented things and made them better and better, we've reached to the kind of techonology that we have today. And if we're still alive millions of years in the future, couldn't we achieve that high thechnology?

Anyone ever heard what Carl Sagan has to say about this? Its very interesting, but totally debunked.

It's always so fascinating to think how the universe came to be, how big it is, whats out there, and where does it end!?!? And if it ends.... whats on the other side of it? But yeah.. since there is so much unexplained things about the galaxy, I wouldn't rule out other life forms somewhere out there. There could be another planet with living things that is many many lightyears away.

Mr Giles agrees: Big universe does not mean the likelihood is approximately 0. Thats based on nothing comparable.

No, it's based on research of scientists. I didn't come up with this, of course, but I think it's pretty reasonable.
A planet has to circle its sun with a certain distance between the sun and itself, so there can be life forms similar to those we have on earth.
When you think about the billions and billions of sonar systems, the probability of this to happen is not too low.

Well, there could be that kind of civilization, of course. But I don't know if the necessary technology can ever be developed. (That question had to answer some qualified scientist)
I also don't think that the human race is still around in a million years. I read or heard that in some thousand years or something, the humans will probably have become extinct or they maybe will have regressed to... well, cave men.
Aside from that, I don't know what other intelligent life forms would want from us. For recourses they should rather travel to a different and bigger planet that earth.

I love this topic. It's so fricking interesting! 🙂

Agree completely!

Even the UFO sightings, we have experts for that too. Experts in many fields: pilots, the air force, astronomies, scientists, technology and all kinds of human flying objects (plains I mean) experts, who saw in many cases unknown flying objects (UFOs), whether it was by eye (like many pilots, who often see those things and get shushed), or in the radar on the ground, by photographs, by videos or by stories... those experts couldn't come up with any known human flying object, nothing that looked like anything we (and they, the experts) know and recognize, or it has abilities that our technology doesn't have. Those people know about plains and stuff, and what they see they couldn't recognize as something from earth. Simply because it's not possible.
Saying those statements (UFOs coming to earth, the universe mysteries, etc.) are based on nothing is simply not true.

Right, not necessarily. It's seems like magic to us. Things we think aren't possible. Though those civilizations might have found the right formula. Many things we thought weren't possible, we did them! The man of thousands of years ago wouldn't have believed building such thing as a computer is possible. It would seem like magic to him (or more possibly, gods' tool). So you never know what other civilization discovered. Even to me, who's not a scientist, I can't grasp the fact that building a computer is possible and how they could pull it off. But there are people who know and do.
There's also the possibility that other planets have materials that we on earth don't have or know of.

I couldn't agree more about us not here anymore in a million years. So many civilizations have been wiped out from earth, some we don't even know about yet, and for so many reasons.
Personally, I think our civilization of today will be destroyed by itself. With everything that's going on in the world, we're near self destruction. That's not a fairytale story, it's very possible. I almost see no chance of us still being here in a million years.

Aside from that, I don't know what other intelligent life forms would want from us. For recourses they should rather travel to a different and bigger planet that earth.

Who knows. There are many theories. Including them seeing us as we see bacterias, like we see in a dish, because we're so primitive, and they're trying to figure us out, just like we do to smaller and primitive forms than us.
There's also the theory of them putting us here (which is a much longere story than I'm gonna write here, because there are many theories for that too) and they're checking in on us once in a while, for good or for bad. We don't even know if their intentions are good or evil.
And about bigger planets than earth for resources, bigger planets or closer plantes don't mean better or more resources, the resources they actually need. Who don't know what they need. There's even a theory about them needing gold (again, this theory is based on things people discovered), maybe we're the only planet in our galaxy that has gold.

I guess those are things we won't get to find out. I don't think we're gonna live that long to find out. And I'm not even sure I wanna know those stuff, or live at the era when humans do find out.
